This just goes by soooo quickly...😅
Great video! Do you usually make your yogurt at a certain hour of the day so you are awake and able to monitor the time, preparation, and transfers?
I do each time I make yogurt, but I don't have a standard time I always do it. I basically make it so I know I will be starting it at a time that 24 hours later I will be home. i also heat the milk early enough that I can cool it down before I go to bed, but if I use my quick method that i show in this video, it doesn't take long.
Does it have a coconut flavor?
Not really. The peppermint overtakes the flavor.
Sorry, what are the ingredients and the ratio? Thanks
The ingredients are in the long form video that is linked and you can find my recipe here: scdforlife.com/2021/01/scd-recipe-easy-vanilla-cashew-butter-candy-honey-sweetened.html
@@happygutforlife Thank you so much. ❤️
Yum 😋
Looks delightful! I will make it exactly like you showed! Thank you!
I have all of the above😮
It's amazing what I've realized is linked to my gut health. Part 2 will deal with how to help it - as does the long video linked.
"Your videos are a joy to watch!"
Looks great and love these are butter free! Just going to try this with some flax instead of eggs as I have a family history of Cancer and learned I now need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy and the the lead and choline in eggs. Thanks for posting
Flax "eggs" should work fine. I also have a family history and from what I've looked into, an adequate choline intake has been shown to reduce breast cancer risk. Newer studies also show estrogen to be linked to lower rates of breast cancer instead of higher. Of course things are always changing. When it comes to estrogen it has more to do with metabolism and presence in the blood in post-menopausal women, which can come from gaining weight and being less active as we age. Of course, I'm not suggesting you eat anything you're not comfortable with. BLV is more concerning, though results are fairly inconclusive right now. Of course that can change too. I live in an area where BLV rates are low and I don't consume very much beef. I primarily eat grass-fed and use grass-fed milk for yogurt and eat grass-fed cheese most of the time. I couldn't really find if that was better as far as BLV was concerned, but it is higher in Omega 3s and lower in cholesterol.
Sherry, you are so creative with this diet. I don’t know what we would do without you!

Do you find the Ninja beneficial to have for other Scd purposes? I’ve debated getting one but wasn’t sure if it was worth it.
The Creami is only used for frozen desserts. I like the ice cream/frozen yogurt I make with it the best, so for me it was worth the purchase. It's also great for fruit sorbets.
@@happygutforlifesuper helpful thanks! Love your channel!
Did you only use heavy cream? Zero milk?
Yes, only heavy cream.
@@happygutforlife nice. I will have to try that, but that is $10 a bottle! Ordered a Luvele today can’t wait to make my first batch
Also, why are we instructed to heat the milk before? What are the consequences of skipping the whole heat/cool down process?
@@thinkchair96 Heating the milk kills any bacteria that shouldn't be in your yogurt. I still heat even when I use ultra-pasteurized milk to be on the safe side. Also, heating the milk breaks down the proteins and makes a smoother, creamier yogurt.
@@thinkchair96 Yes, getting heavy cream or whipping cream without gums is more expensive. I don't make it all the time, but I like to have it from time to time. I just made some because I have a new recipe I want to create.
Love your videos!!!
Thank you for sharing your experiences! Are you doing the diet ketogenic?
I have been using organic lactose free milk to make my yogurt and it works great. That said I still like to let it ferment for 12 hours at least. I may try it longer to see if it is thicker. Thank you for the video.
Nice recipe. My personal favorite is to use two parts milk kefir and one part cottage cheese blended together with whatever additional ingredients are desired. I especially like dates (blended smooth) as a sweetener. You are getting away from vanilla now, but there are so many variations possible here. I use 2% dairy milk and 2% cottage cheese, but I am sure there are non-dairy equivalents. If I want more fat, I add a nut butter. I appreciate your thoughtful recipes.
Thank you! I haven't tried Kefir yet.
Hi, Sherry. Where did you get your yogurt strainer? It seems like it works well! I'm using cheese cloth and it's making some waste.
I love my yogurt strainer. I got it almost 20 years ago now, so it's worthwhile investment. Amazon still has the same one. amzn.to/3UtOAHn (my affiliate link)
@@happygutforlife thank you! I’ll follow the link and get one next payday!
Honey is sugar. This is stupid. Your "certification" is not from an accredited educational institution...clearly.
I know the nutritional properties. However, my recipes are for Specific Carbohydrate Diet which does not include refined sugar. Honey is a monosaccharide, which SCD diet focuses on. Refined sugar is a disaccharide, which are not a part of SCD diet. Thanks for the feedback.
Hey Sherry, thanks for the videos! You taught me how to make yogurt two years ago when diagnosed w colitis and I think it saved me! Question-if I use Ultra Pasteurized Milk, must I boil it first or can the cold method work? I buy Simply Nature organic whole milk that says Ultra Pasteurized
I always use ultra pasteurized milk and I still heat it (note: boiling should be around 180 - 190F.) There could be rogue bacteria, but also boiling makes for a richer, better tasting yogurt because it breaks down the proteins.
@@happygutforlife thanks… I’m going to make L-reuteri yogurt and can’t use IP since it has to ferment at 100°… will sous vide but first boil… thanks for your knowledge!
Thank you very much for this informative video! I have liked and subscribed! 🙂
@@jeanettemosey1 Thank you!
Ok...
Any thoughts on Powder starters?
I prefer commercial yogurt for a starter personally. it's easier to get and i think the yogurt tastes better when made with yogurt rather than powder. I should note that I don't avoid Bifidus so I can use any plain starter I like.
My gut has always been a mess . I just saw your book. And happened to see you here. I have the luvelle, I tried it once but it failed somehow. I'm so grateful to find you for both reasons ! Your book and I wanted to try yogurt again ! Thank you
Thank you! Let me know if you have any questions about yogurt. I am planning a yogurt FAQ video and I'm thinking of publishing a short e-book on making and cooking with yogurt.
That looks great. I have to learn it!
This was great, just bought one of these yogurt makers and am in the process right now of fermenting my first batch using the L.Reuteri bacteria plus others. I need to understand more about the SCD program. I tried to take screenshots of your recommendations do you think you could put down the steps in a "recipe" type document? Great video, I just subscribed and am looking forward to more information from you to help me on my journey.
Yes, I will put this on my site to go with the video. I’m also planning a yogurt FAQ video.
I have crohn’s as well. Had my first surgery last month. Gastro doctor wants to put me on a biologic pretty soon. I’m trying not to go that route so I went to a natural medicine doctor. She recommended the SCD diet along with some supplements she thought would benefit me. I bought the book and started the diet this past week. Made my own yogurt in the instant pot which was surprisingly easy. I’ll do anything to stay off a biologic so I’m praying this diet will work for me.
I'm so glad your natural medicine doctor recommended trying SCD. Are you still having Crohn's symptoms? My doctor put me on mesalamine after surgery for maintenance, but it turned out I am allergic to it. So, he just said I could do nothing for the time being. That's how I discovered SCD, because I wanted to do something for maintenance. I'm always happy to help and answer questions. I hope the diet works well for you.
I was on mesalamine for the past five years and I still developed a stricture. Gastro took me off it. I’m on nothing now. She wants to put me on Skyrizi in the future. I see her in June. Since my surgery, I’ve been symptom free. If this diet works, I’ll delay the biologic.
😣 Promo sm
omg i thought you were gonna mix actual eggs into the peaunut butter 😭 looks good
Same!
Greetings, do you have easy almond bread recipe?
I wish I did, but I've never come up with anything I like a lot when it comes to almond flour bread - that's easy at least. I do like my SCD Bagels, but they're not what I would put in the easy column. 🙂 scdforlife.com/2019/07/scd-recipe-grain-free-bagels.html
@@happygutforlife I wouldn't even try that one :-) I used to do Flaxseed bread, it was so easy, but due to kidney stones lately, I had to drop it.
I just received my deluxe ninja creami yesterday, froze up some of my homemade yogurt with local raw honey and some freeze dried raspberries.... Just mixed and ate it and it was so delicious!! Thank you for your video! It inspired me to make it! Healthy and delicious!
Thank you! I wish I had waited a little bit and got the deluxe, but mine does pretty much everything I need. I haven't tried mixing freeze-dried fruit in. That sounds good and I imagine it makes it a pretty color!
@@happygutforlife the color is pretty! I blended it in the base but tomorrow I am going to try some freeze dried berries as a mix in!
Do you have a Vitamix? How do feel the ninja compare to the vitamix? Does the ninjas blade come out to be washed?
I don't have a Vitamix. My blender and the Creami are both Ninja. I don't know how it compares, but the Ninja blender is pretty powerful. The blades do come out to be washed and they are very sharp! The Creami doesn't work like a blender. It has blades that fit into the lid and they spin and drop down to make the ice cream. They also come out and can be washed separately.
@@happygutforlife I have a cheap vitamix and it is very hard to clean as nothing comes apart. That’s why I ask, would be nice to have a blender that is easier for me to wash as I have arthritis .
Yumm.
looks good, I'm going to try it...
looks tasty might try it out
This looks delicious - looking forward to trying it out! Thanks!
You're a saint for making these, Sherry! I do have a question... about green beans. Do they have to be soaked before we cook them?
Thank you! No, fresh green beans don't have to be soaked. Only dry beans do.
Omg, Thank you for that ( trip down memory lane) i remember going to " Roller Rinks back in the 80's 😂❤
What's scd?

Oh I will let you know, girl (I have IBD)
I have to try this. Thanks 🙏
I really dislike banana-flavored anything. Can I ditch the bananas & sub something else?
You could use other types of fruit. You would probably need more honey or sweetener of your choice. I've used cashew butter with strawberry frozen yogurt and it was also very creamy.
@@happygutforlife that sounds yum! Thanks
it does look good and thus gives me an idea
Sherry, which brands of spices and seasonings do you recommend? I have seen some say McCormick's is safe (but to read ingredients). I also saw Simply Organics are labeled correctly. Which do you use? (I'm just now getting brave enough to try adding those if I can find a good brand. Until now, we've been using fresh herbs and spices which is way too much work for the long haul.) Also, we bought your new dessert book, and we love it! Thank you for your work and devotion to SCD.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying my cookbook! I mostly use Simply Organics spices. I will sometimes use Sprouts brand. I do use Balanced Bites as well. They confirmed with me that there is nothing "hidden" in them and they have some nice blends - a little expensive so I buy when she has a sale. I'm thinking of trying Danielle Walker's spice blends, but I have so many right now.
@@happygutforlife I guess I'll order the Simply Organic. It's expensive and I can't find it locally in our small town. Thank you again!
Bro that's me 24/7 😂❤☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕👍
Hi Sherry. I make yogurt with skim milk for my husband as he is trying to watch his cholesterol. I found using 0% greek yogurt as a starter makes a very creamy, non tart tasting yogurt. Thanks for your video!
Thanks! I don't think I ever tried that the few times I made yogurt with skim milk.
