Very nice review. I fly a LOT for my channel (no pun intended) and with new handluggage regulations here in the EU i'm looking into a new bag as well. Since i'm out in the field for 10-12 hrs a day i need to have a small compartment for food/drinks etc and it seems the top compartment with a BYOB could do the trick. Still undecided whether I want the Axis 20L or the fulton 16L, but Tenba for sure makes the perfect bag! Oh and before I forget, THANK YOU for actually taking the bag on a plane and showing the fit, not many do that.

I love the experience of being in a cinema, seeing a highly anticipated flick in the company of like-minded people. Kills me that future generations might not get to experience that.

Great video! I am currently researching the anamorphic world for a feature I'm about to shoot and I have a doubt. It is my understanding that the v-lites are 1.3x and the x series are 2x, so I'm guessing they had to crop out the image to end up in that aspect ratio? I believe there is a shot in one making-of video where you can see the monitor and how the image actually covers more to the sides, so maybe the vignetting was only from the v-lites? Have you found anything in this regard? Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the nice video! Yes. Filters are still a very useful tool. On my old Sony a7R2 I used a Tiffen Varm black pro mist filter to get a good skin tone after spending many hours adjusting in camera and in Resolve. It looks like an external filter did something a little different that couldn't be done internally. I prefer to turn down the colors a lot when I (rarely) use a blue filter for a night look.

I went for an fx3 in 2024 about 1 month ago, it's good because I think of the fan. So you could say I am a fan of it. Not because it was used in the creator.

The main point of focus has to be the SENSOR. If for 4000$ you get a sensor that's good enough for FotoKem colorists to deliver the 80 million dollar look, then that means the sensor IS Hollywood quality. It's a bargain. So, buy the FX3

Stitching the snorricam in that shot makes it seem like they had some sort of connector on the talents vest. I think that’s why it’s so “way out there” as you said. Komodo owner here btw. Glad to see this investment being used professionally like this

“You don’t need 300 million” It wasn’t the camera, and even the script was dumb. Washington doesn’t need to be paid at the same rate as say, his dad, or Leonardo. AI prob wrote the script. $80 mil makes sense, as long as you have their most important part: Industrial Light & Magic. It’s the most legendary post houses ever

Software? Video capture requires post production. Every device renders colors differently. You CAN'T escape it. That is when you step in as a "video editor" to correct color balance, hues, levels, shadow/highlight values. You can be a youtube person that doesn't care about the footage or you can be a PHOTOGRAPHER that actually understands that there are resources that allow you to take control over your final product. Be a Facebook content provider or be an actual serious artist. If you are on your phone this does not apply to you because you are not an actual artist, you are a social media addict. Hope that helps.

I am about to buy a bag this one is in my top 3 I am still deciding but I have a question, how is the zipper area, do they hold (lets say tourist work in the Europe crowded streets, with the bag on the back) how dangerous for someone to open you the bag and grab the laptop, or the side door, how easy is for a thief to get your gear?, that is my only concern.

What he doesn't tell you as this will 100X increase your render times. I run a 28 core xeon and 4090. I typical video for me takes 5min to render. Now with a few clips using this plugin my render time was 3+ hours. Hardly worth it id say.

it's an interesting hypothesis you're laying out, that it was orchestrated to wow audiences with the marketing... but honestly there's probably only several dozen thousand people around the world who would know what an FX3 is compared to other contemporary cinema cameras and be impressed enough by that to buy a ticket to go see The Creator.. i don't think they would have weighted that in the production pipeline when kitting out the camera department. Maybe yeah at the end of the production process the DP and others realized they could impress all these camera nerds with some details of the production and thus we hear their anecdotes in the interviews, but really doubt it went into the original planning for what cameras to use

  • @davidwurtzel5198

Doc DP here that shoots for NPR / PBS. I had the opportunity to meet Oren about 6 years ago too, awesome guy. They definitely didn't choose the camera for marketing purposes. Oren said in an interview they used it because they were able to have about 8 of them - all set up for different rigs / scenarios. That way they were able to bounce from one to the other seamlessly. Not to mention pivot very quickly when one camera movement maybe didn't feel quite right. It's a tool that gets the job done the way the director wanted to work (fast). It let them have more time for takes and get quality moments. Not to get buzz for their movie. Believe me that's the last thing that was on their minds when choosing a camera. I'm also pretty sure the director shot the proof of concept film on a nikon Z series camera, he operated a lot of this movie and probably wanted a similar form factor.

Ive been trying Ai to fix denoise, using two of the more popular AI software out there...there is NOTHING as affordable and as good as NEAT VIDEO! Great tutorial and Thanks! One more thing I've found is if you place NEAT first as processes to run first in effect controls, render time is much faster. I place my adjustments with Lumetri Color AFTER Neat Video and works GREAT!

This is a great video. My setup is very rugged compared to this. I stapled foam strips on the ceiling. And I use steel plumbing pipe for rails. It’s probably heavier than it needs to be but it can span long distances without bowing. 🫣😂 I need to upgrade a bit maybe. Love your suggestions.

great review! the lens guard is removable, just not sanctioned by Insta360. I carry a couple of the 3rd party lens guard replacements with me on my trips ;) I also own the DJI A4 for 10 bit LOG and color grading but you're right, with this camera I haven't really had the need to do much color grading because it handles color/dynamic range quite impressively.

i think the low-light performance was huge reason. as someone who has been shooting on a sony a7sii since 2015. Lowlight performance means you can use lighter smaller lights, and move them around more quickly. theoretically an fx6 could have been used as on option aswell (same sensor as an fx3)
