I always thought a nature preserve, was forever protected?? Was that way in lower Michigan, they didn't even want you to pick mushrooms or berries, now it's just saved for cutting timber??

This one is a “reserve” instead of a preserve. They have 50,000 acres in reserves across the UP. Not sure how many preserves.

American robins do have a difference in their feather colors. Males have a darker black head & brighter orange chest. Females have a grayer head & less bright orange chest.

Love the segment about Sylvania Wilderness. Is the trails into the lakes a hike or is there primitive boat launches? I know you portaged to one lake. Just did not see how you started. Love the show keep up the good work and topics.

Thanks! Yes we drove up to the boat launch and launched our canoes into Crooked Lake, the first lake. There is a large parking lot at the Crooked Lake launch. I didn't film the initial launch part. I'll make sure to do that next time :)

You washed my face...again....oh how wonderful! CCMH at Camp Josh...I worked in a number of places...and Mental Health was my absolute FAVORITE..it's been decades, but so wonderful to see some old friends. And the Rice Lake Fishing Derby?? I can't do it anymore, but that's an old MUST....it's one of the best days in this area. And you with the little kids....that was just phenomenal! All the littles waving BYE when you boated off....omg....so beautiful!

The wolf numbers in SW Alger County, are so high now, they have decimated what deer we did have. I own 40 acres surrounded by State Forest, and close to farm land. The last 3 years have gotten worse and worse. Wolf scat on my land, wolf tracks in the snow, and when deer to come through, they are chased by wolf. Why has the State DNR shoved their heads in the sand? 3 more years, it will be impossible to recover the deer herd. Many of my friends are even saying, they are willing to not hunt for one or two years, but then I guess that will give the wolves more fresh meat. Why does one species have a higher inherent value.? I've seen the same thing happen out west with elk. At least the fish and game agencies out west are willing to place the blame on the reality of the wolf population.
