My question is why does hearsay have a weight?? It is legal to own firearms in England. So if someone phones in and says you might have a gun and you are in public. The response should be. So what?? These is a man in the woods with a gun. AND?? Nothing!! The entire saga seems very interesting?? Not in a good way! Will the jogger be held accountable for harassment and the abuse of public funds??

This has the vibe of some of the US channels where they transport huge amounts of kit, reproduce all the comforts of home and call it camping. At least you haven’t got the word ‘survival’ in your title unlike your pal from Kent. I have no issue with another outdoor cooking show but anyone trying to enjoy the outdoors on a budget is going to have a hard time relating to a landowner in their heated blow up house who casually refers to all the free tents and stoves they own.

Lovely camp and an interesting tent too! As a firearms and shotgun shooter with many years experience in a wide variety of shooting situations, from woodland pest control, deer stalking, game shooting, clay shooting and stacks of target rifle shooting and coaching with young people, at Bisley, small bore and full bore ranges all over the place and military ranges, I have now heard so many stories from friends and colleagues about these incidents. To be honest, you were actually really 'lucky' not to have had a full armed response team rock up in full on tactical gear! It gets very tense, very fast and there is always the capacity for a situation to get out of shape. I know of many who have experienced these events while carrying out perfectly legal shooting sports with full permission. Unfortunately, we live in a very sad time of anti shooting and terrible misinformation and poor education surrounding gun ownership and sporting shooting. There are a lot of folk who totally hate the fact that poor old fluffy bunnykins or squirrel nutkin might be requiring thinning out to protect land interests and if they decide to call the police, then of course, they must react and follow up. It is important obviously, that these situations are fully investigated, but it is so often the result of poor judgement or even total malice on the part of a dog walker, runner, cyclist....anyone out in the countryside, who either just has no idea about the sorts of activities likely to be going on around them, or for private reasons of wanting to disrupt perfectly legal shooting. If it happens during shooting, always stop immediately if you suspect police involvement, unload safely, sleeve all firearms or place them in an obviously safe and unloaded condition away from you before making contact. Never escalate by attempting to show your frustration to the police....that really is a bad plan! Just take it all quietly, politely and slowly, one step at a time, giving all your details and information, as you clearly did here. I just wish that the media would help to normalise and support the fact that so many folk choose to shoot, and play a mature, balanced and responsible part in educating the general public. Instead, they all too often get hold of a shooting related event and turn it into a sensationalist 'story' that uses contentious language and deliberately negative attitudes to make a headline. Of course, there are rare and massively tragic events involving rogue firearms users, but they are rare and whilst always horrific, are never shown in the media as statistically extremely unusual, or in the full context in which they took place. We live in challenging times and it is tragic the way so many people with no understanding of the realities of sporting shooting, in any of its forms, get to be heard front and centre, while those who are passionate about their sport, get kicked into the press or endlessly 'attacked' for their life choices. BTW....lovely to see your dad crop up on the Antiques Roadshow last week! 😊

I've seen some people putting a tarp over a fire. Naturally it has to be relatively high or else it will catch fire, but I'm wondering about this. It seems dangerous. How far off the flames does the tarp have to be, and I imagine it can't be a man made fibre as they would melt and catch flame easier, maybe canvass would work, but any thoughts on that?

Dont worry about the MREs pard... Ive had several when i was in a couple decades ago.. i hear theyre better now lol, but i didnt complain about them much. As for the jogger... Ya ever notice the more civilization thats around you, the less civilized people seem to behave? Always poking their nose where it doesnt belong, always causin a fuss when it doesnt need to happen. Lord knows ive had the cops called on me more then once, its more then a little bit of a faf in my experience. Being tyrannized for "papers please" is always annoying no matter how well it goes.

How this encounter will go in 5 years... "Oi, sir, we've got a few questions to ask you.. First and most importantly, Ave ya got your Telly license on ya? Have you recently made any undocumented citizens feel unwelcome or unsafe aside from existing near them? Have you committed any hate crimes besides being a white man in Europe? Have you misgenderd any person or animal on accident or on purpose? " "I see here you've withdrawn 800 Euros last month, that's a lot of money. Why did you need that much money? Have you ever liked a video from Count Dankula Tommy Robinson and / or Nigel Farage? Would it be fair to say that you would refuse to eat bugs, live in a 10 by 10 cube in a pod with 5 other persons, and forgo all privacy and freedom for a universal basic income? Okay then.. Your free to go, just make sure report that fire you made, and pay your carbon tax. Ohh. and your annual voluntary mandatory Ukraine/Israel monetary donation is due next Monday. Drink your cornsyrup and have a safe non binary day."

Really nice tent, the extra height is nice for bigger guys like me. I'll have to look for more reviews to see how they hold up. I have a air mattress I pick up at Costco with side angled baffles, think it's in my work truck right now, I'll try and remember to dig it out and check the brand.

Weighs probably 10 lbs in "amurican" weight, not too heavy for such a roomy 4 season tent but certainly not hiker friendly for greater distances and other gear especially carrying the stove. Nice that they bug screened both gables for midge barrier.

In the United States you would have been charged with an "insurrection" and everybody who visited you in the last 7 years would have been hunted down by Police and jailed for the conspiracy of having helped you plot the "insurrection". Politicians & the press would have talked loudly & often about your "insurrection" and how the state needed to increase its budget to help crush their political opponents in order to prevent all search future "insurrections". Then your property would have been confiscated under forfeiture laws and auctioned despite the fact you hadn't yet been convicted of any crime. And then when you took a loan to buy your own property back at auction you would be charged with having overestimated the value needed for the loan to reacquire the property and fined 500 million government issued fiat currency units. (But at least the Yanks had escaped the tyranny of the king.)
