What is a TAS?
To quote sonicpacker:
A Tool-Assisted Speedrun or Superplay (TAS) is a type of speedrun or demonstration that utilizes a variety of tools in order to achieve a theoretically perfect time or method of completing a video game or a portion of a video game. This is mostly done via playing the game one frame at a time and choosing which inputs should occur at every frame.
A TAS may also use tools such as a memory viewer to watch the memory values of the game, notably speed values, RNG values and location values. TASes do not use any hacks or cheats (unless stated otherwise), and all things performed in a TAS would work the same in a real-time play through, provided you play exactly like the TAS does (look for TASBot). Of course, no human would be able to replicate TAS gameplay, but it can be very entertaining to see what perfection would look like.

10:01 *ALRIGHT, MEN! GO STEAL THE ENERGY!*
I pulled this off one day in the arcade and people crapped themselves when they saw my score haha. The only arcade glitch I was ever able to pull off.
How I wish that these were optimized.
even the atari 2600 version is better than this PO S
I'd love to see what tas can do on a 1 million point Galaga game. This is an official speed run track and a lot of Galaga players still submit to this track. I think the world record is somewhere around 32 minutes and change.
昔、プレイしていたが、上手すぎる。異次元のプレイ。
Is it just me or did Richard Miller did the 007 Pose? 0:45
Now I want to see this with Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh. Can do some serious score milking with the R capsule.
As of June 2024, the coolest opening theme ever.
Incredible.
Flawlessly epic!

Not a TAS id fall asleep to (Yes i fall asleep to TASes i like the background noise) but i will say you did great with this
3:26 is a miss by the TAS and didn’t explode off screen
Damn, this TAS dude is such an amazing player!
Some people in comments "HURR DURR i clearly have no idea what a TAS is, so i will just say it's cheating" - braindead.
From Arabic Games??
この後に原作を読んだゴルゴ「俺は依頼者の嘘を許さない」 ストーリーを説明しだすと長くなるから思い切ってシンプルな内容に改変しつつも、劇画の雰囲気で原作好きも納得の出来
insert 3 coins? no way!!
7 min Phoenix.
something tells me thats not how the pinball board is supposed to work lmao
HOW THE HELL IS HE NOT CRASHING OR GETTING TO THE GRASS!!!???
There's a lot of sad people here making comments. If you don't like it, go home to mummy!
that is not how you're supposed to do the head! lol
I've actually TASed the Atari 7800 port of this game (have the short run on my channel, never posted the longplay because of all the flashing and repetitiveness). In terms of home ports, it's almost arcade perfect - the only difference I can see off the bat besides a reduction in the graphic detail (and somewhat lower "enemy density" because of that) is that in the Castle Hall level the screen will never go completely black even if you shoot out all the torches - it'll remain at the dark blue stage. I know from working on the A7800 version the score limit there is 10 million before it rolls over - it looks like the arcade's limit is higher based on an old TG record of nearly 20 million, but I can't imagine you want to go at this game long enough to see where the arcade's score cap might be. :P
I disapprove of using TAS... it's considered cheating
well no ish Sherlock!
Pointless and useless. Real hardware doesn't allow this. You can't just "teleport".
He used mouse as "Arkanoid Controller". This controller allowing move your character to other side of screen in just one frame
there's 651,360 points. it's right in the title
go home to mummy, she will make it better.
real hardware has no actual limit in place, if you could put a smaller ball on the cabinet, you'd get a faster and faster movement until it was practically instant, but nearly impossible for a human to control. Thats the point of TAS, its theoretical. It's 'what if we could break human limits but still adhere to the softwares' hardcoded rules'.
You should lose all your lives on last level. Just damage Doh only 15 times, then die, then damage Doh 15 times, then die,...... Complete the game only on last live It's 1k points per damage*15 damage*20 lives(you will get 6 more lives for points)=300 thousand points on level 33/Doh
It's +285000 points to your score
Move over, super player!
I find it odd that this game cuts you off after the first half of the boards, and you can only fight Doh by entering a code at the start of a new game to start on the second half, but also you can only play one half of the game at a time
hey
====Description==== Arkanoid is a 1986 block breaker arcade game developed and published by Taito. In North America, it was published by Romstar. Controlling a paddle-like craft known as the Vaus, the player is tasked with clearing a formation of colorful blocks by deflecting a ball towards it without letting the ball leave the bottom edge of the playfield. Some blocks contain power-ups that have various effects, such as increasing the length of the Vaus, creating several additional balls, or equipping the Vaus with cannons. Other blocks may be indestructible or require multiple hits to break. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkanoid Tool-assisted superplay (TAS) of Arkanoid Arcade (651,360 pts) (Hard) This video is just a superplay. I finished the game relatively quickly but it could be done faster. Sometimes I chose to have fun rather than going fast. If we had the choice between infinite angles, some rounds would be completed much faster, but we can only choose between about 6 different angles at which the ball bounces on the paddle. To get a high score like on Twin Galaxies, you have to shoot many enemies while keeping the ball in play but without ending the round. This is why the score for this TAS is about half of what is posted there. -In this game, for a TAS, it is possible to change the power-up (rng manipulation) simply by moving the paddle before the power-up appears. -At the start of turn 5, the paddle is moved after the start to obtain the multi ball (D) -In round 14 at 7:07 I moved the paddle to get an L instead of an S -At the start of rounds 16, 28, 30, 31 and 32, the power-up was changed by moving the paddle. -The number of hits to break a gray brick changes as you progress in the game, increasing the difficulty of the game. From what I tested, the difficulty setting of the game does not change this. -Rounds 1 to 9 = 2 hits -Rounds 10 to 17 = 3 hits -Rounds 18 to 24 = 4 hits -Rounds 25 to 32 = 5 hits -The map of all levels can be viewed here: vgmaps.com/Atlas/Arcade/index.htm#Arkanoid What is a TAS? kzread.infoabout For a good introduction to TASing: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e5mozZNmh8Wdn7w.html For more information visit tasvideos.org. 0:00 Rounds 1 - 5 2:57 Rounds 6 - 10 5:02 Rounds 11 - 15 8:27 Rounds 16 - 20 10:47 Rounds 21 - 25 13:47 Rounds 26 - 30 18:14 Rounds 31 - 32 19:28 Doh 19:54 End
Been so long since I played this in NES it feels like a dream.
Great job! ... But you missed 12 objects *(12 crates fall on your head)* 📦
Sorry, regardless of the technical discussions, but where is the end of this game in this video that exudes unquestionable skill in knowing how to play it!??...😊
I cannot express how satisfying this was to watch. This game was so punishingly difficult that even when doing it as a TAS there were times you barely beat the computer drivers, sometimes they even had a higher fastest lap time. It was incredible to watch the computer drivers which I have long believed "cheat" get their ass handed to them time and time again.
Couldn't they find one extra unique sound effect for the Master of Darkness? After "You Will Die," those monkey sounds combined with his goofy face ruin any sense of foreboding. I can't take it seriously after that.😆
35:54 Only affected this…!
This was one of the games I saw at a local grocery store back in the 80's, the other being Omega Race.
