It was always interesting to me that peek a boo is a universally funny game for babies, and it’s supposedly because of the lack of the sense of object permanence that we develop as we turn two or so. So perhaps object permanence is part of the issue. we don’t believe something exists when we don’t see it as babies, so when it suddenly disappears and then reappears we get a big thrill. Which sounds to me like the way consciousness likes to play at being separate beings that actually believe that others exist when we are not there, although we are all always there I guess. A very sophisticated version of peek a boo
thats a stage, most ppl fall back to old ways of living or they are just stuck in this stage for decades. Many teaching and spiritual things have been write down about this stage because he seems to convince our mind that its an end to itself or a sort of end. But maybe, you can go throught ;) or not

10 years ago when I got sober I was led to a sangha locally that studied Korean Zen Master Seung Sahn. One of his teachings was “don’t know mind.” Spot on about knowing being misery. Yikes. There was arrogance, pride and the development of spiritual ego here several years ago. Pretty sure it’s gone now having “seen” it but it may still be lurking around. Anyway, great video Fred.
