An Enlightened Being Speaks to Us Two Days before His Body's Assisted Death
Before Ted and I became fast friends, we first met as teacher and student sometime in 2021, while Covid-19 was busily remaking the world. Ted had recently discovered that he had terminal cancer and wanted to "wake up" or Realize Truth before he died. He saw me on KZread and called me right away. Working with people at the end of their unit's time is a regular part of my work.
Ted was an engineer by trade and was a bit of a tough case spiritually. Still, he'd been seriously practicing and studying the spiritual aspect of life for decades - with little to show for it. As we got involved, he was not a "sudden awakener" for me, as I am typically used to. Nonetheless, I could tell that I was having a very positive effect on him, and gradually, clarity began to show up on his end in our conversations and in his life. As we got to know each other, we grew closer each time we met.
He told me and my wife, Betsy, that he knew the instant he heard me on KZread that I was doing something very different and that he knew instantly that "I was his guy." I hear that a lot. Ted's faith in The Living Method (the Teaching that comes through this body), never wavered. The idea that "all spiritual teachers are talking about the same thing" is untrue, and Ted knew it.
I won't go into our relationship blow-by-blow, but I'm very happy to report that Ted did indeed Realize, and a wholly remarkable level of clarity emerged. When we talked alone in the last months of his life, sometimes we quit talking altogether and just looked at each other and smiled. There was nothing to say about This.
In the winter of 2024, his brain tumor came back online, and his death was both certain and soon. In two of the last three Sunday Satsangs he attended, I let my friends talk to him very frankly about his situation - and theirs. It was glorious. Lots of tears. Lots of joy.
On his last Satsang, March 10, 2024, I completely turned the entire meeting over to him. Those last three satsangs were terrific! They were beautiful. And they were end-to-end expressions of love. Ted made arrangements with his family that I could take any of our time together and do whatever I wanted to with the record of it. We agreed I would publish this video after I got to where I could deal with it emotionally. I haven't seen it since we recorded it.
Late in the night of March 11 - he was set to die on Tuesday the 12th - I got an email from him. He was in total bliss. He expressed such deep gratitude that I had to cry over it, just as I'm crying now, as I write this. Betsy and I loved him so very much.
The next morning, D-Day, I got another email, again expressing gratitude and boundless joy. He was not concerned in the least. He told me he was looking forward to release. I've been very ill and in great pain for the last four years. I understood exactly where he was coming from. Ted said he had to be careful not to express too much joy about the unit's upcoming demise because it (understandably) upset his wife. I wrote him back thanking him for being my teacher, which he was in the end. He did at least as much for me as I did for him.
This is a sacred 90 minutes. Please approach it with respect and allow yourself to FEEL what Ted is telling us. It could change your life. He certainly changed mine.
With love, respect and gratitude,
Fred

Very powerful satsang. Thanks to Tedness for giving permission to share this. And to you, Fred, for facilitating in such a beautiful way. Also, thanks for your words of tribute to Ted's courage and clarity, and to your obviously genuine and true friendship. In the end, love is all that's left.
I feel lucky to have bumped into this Satsang❤
Incredibly grateful for your sharing this. I'm a firm believer in personal choice about end of the bodies life and this is a beautiful tribute. 🙏💕

Hopeful that Fred-ness will put up other vid’s with Ted. Esp the one about the airport and departures. Great metaphor. Also loved the quote about “our senses betray us”. Much sincere gratitude to everyone involved in this. So sweetly kind and the love practically jumps from the screen as people share. Really appreciate video postings by the Fred unit. Namaste 🙏🙏

With this sharing you also answered a kind of unresolved pondering within me around the suicide of a former known non duality speaker I knew personally...so thank you Fred, Ted & Co

Don't forget that after Awakening, Ramana spent many years in study of scriptures, receiving teachings from sadhus, and meditating in a cave before he wrote anything.
