  Å is right there in between o and a (i.e. a dark swedish a). The ring actually represents the letter o. So å is more from the back of your mouth than is o, and with less rounded lips. The english word "saw" often has the (long) swedish å-sound, while a word like "foot" has a sound similar to a (short) swedish o.
