Cambrian Chronicles is the number one Welsh and Brythonic history KZread channel 🏴
I make animated videos covering all aspects of the history of Wales and the Britons, from ancient Celtic Britain to the Roman conquest, from the medieval Welsh kingdoms to the modern country of Wales.
I aim to provide entertaining, informative and, most importantly, factual videos on a topic that rarely gets covered, with high quality, accessible sources in order to increase the wealth of knowledge about my home country.

Maybe it meant something like from out of the country/area, like they had a parent from a different area.
Prople in the comments who know nothing about how land sharks actually are: "Gee Willy, why they call a shark a sea dog!?"
The comment section is as entertaining as the video
0:30 the Tluh😂😂?
These are the type of random videos I love when youtube suggests them to me. Never heard of this channel before or would have any reason to look any of this stuff up. But man this was captivating and interesting. Def gonna check out more of from here

This flag is approved by the history fictionologists. Hail the enigmata
My theory that modern analogue of this word is word based
I'm going to suggest "rustic" in a general (maybe american, idk if it's used in the UK) way. It could mean down to earth, uncultured in a folksy neutral way, maybe denote that they were from out in the country. Maybe a sort of country version of street-smart?
In the 1970s because of the troubles in northern Ireland hundreds of children were sent for their own safety to wales by the government..
Coastal land being lost or buried by major huracanes or tsunamis are not impossible. In Chile the 1960 tsunami wiped out a town and the old city center is now a sunken rivermouth Blackwater swamp. The city was moved several miles onwards and no doubt the telling of the lost land would be similar if not for better historic records and the more recent events. The Irish sea may see underwater landslides, and there are Atlantic tsunamis. If the area was similar to Holland, meaning protected by dykes and slightly under sealevel then a major event destroying the dykes could cause permanent loss. Just see the great Dutch flood of the 1950s when the dykes broke. Also considering how at the time most "kingdoms" were really tiny city states it accounts for ",lost kingdom" really being more of a "lost estate" or "lost island". But yes, sudden loss of coastal land in a 500 year major weather event happens, especially in already erosion prone areas.
Of course it’s an British guy
First, TY for interesting theory backed by much research!! Second, allow me to posit that many, many Named Locations were simply "swallowed up" due to "social shifting". By this I mean, the ever shifting of social construct common among people, across the globe. I.e., a new location is built(even simply @ the far end of a street/town/or geographical route( N./S./E./W.) Quickly, yet surely, the location is re-named by the populace through casual conversation. Changed by each subsequent generation, the original fades beyond memory, and written records are lost. In my own limited geographical area,( in USA) I have uncovered/became aware of several such locations that I describe, that happened in just past 250 years. I.e., where I currently have lived for past 21 years, it took me 3yrs/lotta luck to determine name of creek( actually Branch) beside my house. Then, I jolted w/memories of the fact that 50 yr ago, I was friends w/descendants of the early settlers, after which the Branch was named!! Also, that I am living beside "The Wilderness Trail", a highly historical path to development of America!! Yet, now, it is "just a road" to most.
If you really care about getting subscribers, hear my comment prayer 🙏 you should make a video about (the most gruesome story’s about war) you win me and my clans subs❤
That’s a KZread promise lol
The King and the Land are one. It means Of the Land. Rulers were of the land.
So I'm probably not the one to save this but for some reason country like kinda makes me think, they were married into the title. So they weren't brought up, noble. But I'm pretty sure this would have been the first thing many people would have thought of.
What if it is as simple as being a title that means unbecoming or one who takes actions not befit their position or status? I am not very familiar of the stories or history but it could over all a neutral title like one whom is a sage but instead of staying only in the libraries goes to battle. Another idea I had is what if it is just as simple as they came from the country side? Like a man whom comes from rags and holds no recognized title before becoming of a high position or simply put is known to act commoner like despite being of high authority, since they wouldn’t recognize Roman’s authority as holding claim to any of their land giving Roman leaders the title could be a way that their writings had emphasized that they held no legitimacy?
this is really CK2 in a nutshell
Shark bait
I diwedd the end lmao marriage last words
All unknown to me . Quite intriguing
Nice video mate, great job keeping this rare and amazing story alive

Cool story...thank you
Epithets are a big thing in 2e Agon.
Me: Looks at longsword on wall. Me: Tempting but id rather play videogames.
There is just no explanation why it would not work. Would try the same 10/10 😂
Funny we call sharks Mori in Konkani.
It would be pretty based if they added a green stripe inside the white stripe
This damn cave... i swear to god...
It probably means "Patriarch", they're all Fathers. It would make sense that there's a title specifically for whomever is the familial leader: if theres a Grandfather and a Father, who is the leader?
Yep that is indeed the best title of a book😂
Aberwtfwith??? Ok...wait...ten back...
2:00 what is this song

“Tis but a scratch!”
your choice in music is fucking superb
So they were in the Atlantic Ocean? Maybe that shark was a great white or tiger shark. The fact it bite him in half implies it was a very large shark. Great whites are really the only ones that are known for doing that. There’s been many shark deaths that have bite humans into two pieces. And it’s nearly always great whites.
thank you for this video, i am now very interested in more stories like this
Nice video mate :)
I agree. Thank you for sharing. 🤘
That's crazy how English always abused irish and scottish but never denied it's breton celtic origins
Of course the Celts weren't wiped out, they were conquered. A slow cultural extinction is common for conquered peoples. I guess this video is to refute the 'radical extinction and population replacement of the original Celts', but who even really believes that nowadays? When Mercia and Wessex were carved out from formerly Welsh territory do you think the native Welsh were okay with that? Anyway, informative video.
