History Matters

History Matters is a history-focused channel which aims to help students studying for A levels, GCSEs and AP World/Euro History by providing short introductions to multiple topics. The episodes released are designed to act as both intros and as revision material for students or people who are simply interested in World History. Videos will also focus on the lesser-known parts of history too and dive deep into questions that many people ask but aren't often answered.

The patriarch of Constantinople is *NOT* the highest ranked patriarch in the orthodox world. All of the orthodox patriarchs of the East have equal stature in orthodoxy. The patriarchies are Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Constantinople & Rome. Also important to note that the apostate “popes” of Rome are nothing more than an equal bishop/patriarch equal to all the other patriarchal cities of the East. The western Latin Catholics broke away from the original Christian church. The original Christian church is the Eastern Orthodox Church (as it is today). The Protestants then broke away from the already broken-away Catholics. Therefore the Orthodox perspective is that Protestants must actually come back to the original unchanged Christian which which is the Orthodox Church. And Catholics must come back too.

After the second world war Britain worked hard to make Portugal, Spain and other Europeans such as Spain and Netherland lose their colonies. Not that I say they deserved to have any colony but that's why UK was on the same side with India regarding Goa. The same happened in Africa.

What an arrogant narrative! Maybe you would want to read about the Soviet side some more and not tell such a onesided story… …you know, along the cold war lines of „Stalin‘s a dictator“, „we are superior“, „they were incompetent and we defeated them“ I suggest you question the historical and political meta-narratives next time you tell a stupid western propaganda story like that.

One key fact about appeasement is it wasn't seen to its logical conclusion. It's believed had the strategy continued until 1941, the UK and France would've overtaken Germany in arms, manpower, and defense spending while being in a position to outlast Germany in a lengthy war. 1939 was realistically the last year Germany would have had an advantage, yet for some reason Poland was where France and the UK drew their arbitrary line. I think taking appeasement to 1941 would make for an interesting alt hist scenario, especially because a German defeat mightve been quick and changed far less on the international stage

Back in the 90's we still had military there in the form of Jungle School. I had always wanted to attempt it. My counterpart in Korea had been an instructor there. During an extended live fire exercise (3 weeks at different positions) we had time to talk about it, and he gave me some tips. We got out of the field and I submitted a 4187 for Jungle School. About a month later Clinton shut down Jungle School. Yes that was direct from him when he was President.

Most people either do not understand the power of compound interest, or are just impatient. For the average Joe, however. I think it is just best to invest in the S&P 500, and just wait, which is reliable, albeit extremely long-lots of years. Or just use a professional analyst and speed up wealth creation. Most people underestimate the power of the latter

BRICS seeks to create a new currency, considering gold's historical role as a store of value and medium of exchange. However, the functionality and acceptance of a gold-backed currency in the current global financial system are uncertain. Creating a new currency requires careful consideration of economic, political, and logistical factors.

Why? We were bombing it into oblivion. If Nixon had stuck a surrender in front of them in December 1972, they would have signed it. They probably would have broken it, but they would have signed it. Keep the threat of B-52s over their heads, and we could have forced them to honor it.

“Bondage” lol they were sold in to Slavery, the girls were used as sex slaves and the men were worked till they died from exhaustion. The Muslim pirates took so many girls for sex slaves that the skin color of the people in Northern Africa became significantly lighter because of the mass forced breeding of European girls with Arab masters.
