  Even when I saw this in the summer of 1981 with my parents, I wasn't sure if the Kryptonian villains were dead, and didn't care because I was cheering with everyone else that they'd been defeated. But I like the confirmation that they were left with a fate worse than death: powerless, off to prison for either life or until they were executed for their many murders, and knowing they lost everything to a much better creature than themselves.

  Ka lel knew when his powers were being removed, how come the 3 villains didn't feel the same? It is stated in superman that his dense molecular structure under a yellow sun will make him superhuman yet how could red Krypton rays change that? Surely that would work the the kryptonite and act like radiation killing him instead?

  Wow this scene even though its edited, it looks and feels so much better and more complete with having both of Superman's kryptonian parents present when he says to them that he wants to give up his powers to be with Lois. I always felt whenever I watched both versions of Superman 2 that an important moment like this needed to have both of them together as I always wondered what it would have been like to see their reaction towards their son giving up everything for a human. The back and forth emotional dialogue between everyone feels very powerful. I love it.

  I think you could've changed the backgrounds in the Donner shots of Superman to match the close-ups from the Lester shots, to keep a more consistent continuity.

  I would love to see a totally uncut version of superman 2 with a look into his external anatomy of him going back to being superman and the 3 super villains likewise when superman tricked them into becoming molecularly mortal. Love special effects.

  I really don’t understand miss tesmacher helping lex escape after what Superman did for her in the first part. He intercepts the first missile for her first because her mother lived in Hackensack instead of saving Lois and jimmy first. He saves miss tesmacher from being fed to Lexs’s babies and this is what she does. It just doesn’t make sense. Even if the lex babies scene is a deleted scene

  Very impressive, but I can see that scenes was taken from Superman 3. When Superman got his power back, you can see him breathing from relief, but this scene is from Superman 3 when evil Superman got rid of Clark in the conveyor. Only a true fan of Superman movies could see that.❤

  True. Reeve was much older looking in Superman III but in some ways looks a lot like the classic Silver Age Curt Swan Superman from the comics at that point.

  Richard Lester was in a difficult position. Imagine trying to complete a movie where most of the people you had to work with were upset that Donner got fired. Lester did his best to finish the film.

  Just like the ABC broadcast I have from the 80s. That’s the only version of ‘S II’ I watch to this day.
