Bassless Backing Tracks

Bassless Backing Tracks

This channel was created to help all bass players out there - beginners and professionals alike - jam along to their favourite tunes. Emphasis towards jazz, swing and funk etc, but we're happy to create tracks of all kinds within the limits of our capability (which is, admittedly, fairly limited, as we use an app to create the tracks, but hey - we're doing it for free!).

Sadly, we cannot provide the tunes on top of the backing tracks for copyright reasons, but if you want to listen to a tune they're all widely available on KZread!

All our bassless backing tracks are created using iRealPro which is a fantastic app for any budding bass player - a songbook with a vast array of features in your pocket - check it out at irealpro.com/ (please note that we here at Bassless Backing Tracks have nothing to do with iRealPro - we're just humble consumers!)

    The moon is the same moon above you Aglow with it's cool evening light But shining at night, in Tunisia Never does it shine so bright The stars are aglow in the heavens But only the wise understand That shining at night in Tunisia They guide you through the desert sand Words fail, to tell a tale Too exotic to be told Each night's a deeper night In a world, ages old The cares of the day seem to vanish The ending of day brings release Each wonderful night in Tunisia Where the nights are filled with peace Each wonderful night in Tunisia

    Softly as in a mornin' sunrise The light of love comes stealing Into a newborn day Flamin' with all the glow of sunrise A burning kiss is sealing The vow that all betray For the passions that thrill love Lift you high to heaven Are the passions that kill love And lead ya down to hell Same old story ... Softly as in an evenin' sunset The light that gave you glory Will take it all away For the passions that thrill love And lift you high to heaven Are the passions that kill love And lead ya into hell Same old story ... Softly, softly as in an evenin' sunset, sunset The light that gave you glory Will take it all away ""Say Richard ... I don't wanna be a drag or anything But the title of this tune is 'Softly' so could we do it that way, please?"" Softly, softly as in an evenin' sunset, sunset The light that gave you glory Will take it all away

    On the Sunny Side of the Street Grab your coat and get your hat Leave your worry on the doorstep Just direct your feet To the sunny side of the street Can't you hear a pitter pat And that happy tune is your step Life can be so sweet On the sunny side of the street I used to walk in the shade With those blues on parade But no I'm not afraid This Rover crossed over If I never have a cent I'd be rich as Rockefeller Gold dust at my feet On the sunny side of the street * Instrumental * * Scat Away... ... ... Can't you hear a pitter pat And that happy tune is your step Life can be so sweet On the sunny side of the street I used to walk in the shade With those blues on parade But no I'm not afraid This Rover crossed over If I never have a cent I'd be rich as Rockefeller With gold dust at my feet On the sunny side of the street

    I'm sorry but this is absolutely not C Jam blues. It's missing all the chords that make it interesting! What about the turnaround at the end‽ C Jam blues goes: | C7 | F7 | C7 | G-7 C7 | | F7 | F7 | C7 | A7 | | D-7 | G7 | C7 A7 | D-7 G7 |

    While many later versions use a more interesting chord sequence, the original renditions use the chords as set out in this chart (which are as they appear in the Real Book). It very much is C Jam Blues, but perhaps not the versions you are used to. If we'd used the more interesting chords then people would complain that it doesn't follow the original/Real Book - just can't win sometimes!

  • @mymo_in_Bb
    @mymo_in_Bb11 ай бұрын

    @@basslessbackingtracks everyone knows that the real book isn't the best source for accurate chords. it's the source for when you need to fake a standard. Nowadays, even people say C Jam Blues, they basically always mean the version with the turnarounds.

    Hi BBT, I am a double bass student at the conservatory in Mainz in Germany and I used your playalong to create a recording, but only for fun and study purposes. I hope that's all right? It's on it's way to the studio to get mixed and mastered and some strings will be added. I'll post it here then. Here's the demo, I will change the credits to "Bassless Backing Tracks" and add a link to your channel as soon as I get home in an hour. Thank you for the great work and I hope you enjoy this: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZKqW0byLm9Sqe5c.html Take care, Björn

  • @basslessbackingtracks

    Yes, just a minor chord without the 7 (although to be honest in this case you can play the 7 too if you want).

    Hey thanks for all the backing tracks, what does the + signify in F7+ ?

  • @basslessbackingtracks
    @basslessbackingtracks2 жыл бұрын

    In this track it just means that it's an augmented chord, so the 5th is sharp (i.e. C# instead of C).

    Can you please explain the form? # of choruses before coda, etc?

  • @basslessbackingtracks
    @basslessbackingtracks2 жыл бұрын

    The form is in the timeline, but basically: 00:06 Head 00:54 Solo section 03:51 Final chorus + coda If you have a Real Book, it more or less follows the form in that, with 8 choruses for solos in the middle.
