This thing about sleeping 6 to 8 hours a night is a little more controversial than you might think. Most sleep studies are done on men and do not take women's menstrual cycle into account. New research is pointing out that the ideal sleep for a woman is between 8 and 10 hours per night, depending on the phase of the menstrual period.

I do this when im feeling overwhelmed in my weekly view. Just open a blank page, write down the day's important tasks, and number them. Especially for work stuff. It can be the thing that gets me started

I must use a day planner or at least a top 3 to guide my day. Otherwise I float around unsure of my priorities.

Honestly, I think there is a 6th-goal or habit planner. I’ve felt like something is seriously missing from my current system and its goal setting, then breaking those goals down into actions or habits to develop to meet those goals throughout the year. I used to bullet journal but my life got too complicated to fit in the time to set it up and maintain it. It included this goal-setting piece though and I haven’t found a good digital alternative.

A practice I used to do and need to return to was to do my planning for the next day at bedtime. I would count the number of hours I had available in the number of hours my tasks were likely to take. That helped me understand if I was gonna have a high-pressure day or a relaxed, chill day. That way I woke up in the right gear for the kind of day I was going to have rather than taking it slow and then figuring out midday, I had a lot to catch up on.

You nailed it. I hadn’t used really any kind of analog methods since college- Finally added a paper notebook back into the mix last year and it’s such a game changer. If my “daily” is on my phone or computer and the screen locks, it’s out of sight out of mind. And then it’s way too easy to say “no biggie, I’ll just change the date to tomorrow.” Meanwhile, my Cousin is sitting there wide open judging me. For me it becomes an accountability tool. Also with task managers I get overconfident and plan way too many things because digital space is endless. With a finite piece of paper I can immediately tell if I’m being unrealistic on how much I’m expecting to accomplish. Great video!

Maybe consider how much time and cost it takes to make a video for you to view. Of which based on her number of subscribers and how many views she gets, grants her little payment from the KZread algorithm. So, if you do not like the paid ad, then fast forward over it, get a cup of coffee, pace around the house/apartment, but do not criticize for someone having a sponsor to help offset the cost to make their video that you otherwise enjoy watching. Such as camera, a tripod, extra planners to show, pens, paper, etc. Or just remember what people always say, if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all. No reason to troll her for using a paid sponsorship. However, this particular paid sponsorship may not be something I would ever use. I tried it once, but no apple calendar integration makes it a no go for me. I refuse to let google track and target ads on me based on what I am doing on my calendar. My gmail account is trash mail, so there is no real targeted ads ,since that algorithm is pretty much confused. Newsletters I sign up for a discount, or a win this or that, nothing of importance ever gets sent to gmail.

Really cool to see that my bullet journal system covers most everything except time sensitive tasks and a calendar! The bullet journal method includes input and captures, notes, task management (I use an app for recurring tasks and things I want reminders about), and a day planner. People do manage their schedule in their bullet journal but it's way easier for me to just use a digital calendar for planning ahead.

Whenever I watch the "productivity/habit guru videos" they don't make sense to the real world and real life. Waking up at 6 AM is too late and these people don't have kids. When I was in high school, they started handing out basic planners when we were in sophomore year to get us used to planning out our schedules. I color coded my classes and always knew my homework based on the color. I will never forget my Psych teacher using mine as an example of how to use it (apparently I was one of 25 in the entire school who actually used theirs). I never forgot the pride and how easy it made my life and never looked back. Now I have a planner for everything and couldn’t be happier. A5 for work, Weeks for personal, TN for financial, and A5 Day Free for media (books, movies, shows, and video games).

i think a lot of people get hung up on the "sun" exposure part, bc they live in cloudy or less sunny places. I think that just getting outside is honestly the key- it can be cloudy or low sun. but sun and sun lamps are super helpful. I think a lot of hubermans routine is bs- but the sun, hydrate, meditate and the night routine of no screen time are the most beneficial and easiest to adapt to most lifestyles.

He sounds really tedious. That might work for him but surely the key is that different things work for different individuals depending on where they live (I couldn't do 'sunlight exposure' for most of the year because I wake up when it's still dark outside). It feels like a bit of a money-grab to develop some kind of 'system' or daily routine that is good for 'everyone' and it's a false promise.

I also agree the size is taunting. I only ever used the weekly session. A6 original size would’ve been perfect but that doesn’t have the weekly layout, unless I buy the supplement notebook, which is another book to carry. Otherwise the design, color etc do not bother me.

I wake up at 6 or 630am each morning during the work week. It takes me 60 to 80 minutes to get ready for work every morning before I commute to the office. I must have missed it but I didn’t see this morning necessity built into his time blocks. It looks like the “deep work” block is the time I use getting ready in the morning. 10 minute shower 5 minute coffee making 10 minute makeup application 5 minute hair-dry 10 minute hair curling/styling 5 minute picking out clothes 5 minute playing with kitty before I leave him alone for the day 5 minute giving kitty a snack 10 minute misc: loading the dishwasher or preparing lunch

I listened to this Huberman episode when it first came out and while some bits were good, I was instantly lost at the "wake up and note down time" thing. Like, I wake up when my alarm goes off, so its the same time every day! I know he uses that metric to understand his "temperature minimum" but if you're artificially woken up, surely the data is skewed. This only works if you have a regular, reliable body clock and wake up naturally every day (I would probably sleep 2-3 more hours every morning if i could).

Huberman(and nobody else for that matter) never talks about women and fasting. We live in a patriarchal society and need to consider where we are at in our cycle.
