    A complete outsider here. However I feel that that first agent sends that same email to a ton of authors just to get them on the hook before someone else more legitimate gets to them, then ghosts once he gets around to it …. A complete scammer imho I really wish you would have given his name

    Congratulations! Such a fascinating journey to see from the "inside" somewhat. I sincerely hope you were writing something else whilst this all played out. : ) This is so valuable to see -- the nuances, the specifics, the detailed ups and downs -- as another writer, much appreciated. New to your channel, thank you for your vulnerability -- will enjoy your journey and insights. Cheers

    Gotta imagine Sleep Token is the perfect, vibey soundtrack for writing your fantasy novel 🖤 So glad to hear draft 6 is going well! Can’t wait to read your book someday.

    Many say it's a Beauty and the Beast adaptation and actually there is a Scottish Ballad called Tam-Lin where he gets rescued by his "true love" from the Queen of the Fairies, which might have been the source of inspiration, considering the many, many Celtic mythological references SJM made (in this, ToG and CC as well) as well as Prythian represented as the British Isles.🥰

    The problem with these routines where they say you have to get up at 6am is that I already get up at that time to go to work. So in order to exercise before work I would have to get up at 4am 😬

    He is only working from 4:30-9:30 or 10:30am though. After that he’s doing whatever he wants for the rest of the day including resting so working -after- such a routine is like double Murakami workload lol

    My biggest struggle as an extroverted person with social anixety is that i always hold myself back because its hard to follow up being my true and best self of that confident, talkative person and I love telling great stories and funny experiences but there are some really bad days. I always hate how ppl always expect extroverts to bring something to the table but we extroverts also have bad days too 😫. I have a random question, would you rather be an introvert or an extrovert with social anxiety?

  • @EricaZhuo
    @EricaZhuo6 күн бұрын

    Things extroverts with social anxiety struggle: 1. Wants to form close relationships but struggles to commit or maintain them 2. You feel drained from just thinking about how to approach social situations. 3. You really want to open up and speak your mind but are afraid of judgements

    I want you to know you are not alone. I just had to look up extroverts with anxiety because I knew I couldn't have been the only one. You're so awesome and brave to speak out about it because I know most people don't think it makes sense but bullying can really tear a person confidence down but cuddos to you for getting back to your true self.

    Hi Christy, I have watched a lot of your writing vlogs. Which are amazing, and I love the writing routines you do. All the videos I have seen from you are great. I am very curious if you would do me a favor. That I will pay back for in the future, I promise. The favor is, can you make a video that explains what you do for a living. I am right now trying to figure out my career. Your videos are great and hope to see more of them.

    I know it's about four months ago, but.... It is so inspiring to hear about your querying process! Thank you for sharing this with us. I have no experience in querying yet. I'm working on my high fantasy series still :) As for those first two agents: - I felt like they wanted to change your book to something different that is not your story anymore. Adding in a romance plot once the book is already finished?... - With the third agent you really looked different! That joy on your face after the offer of representation actually brought tears to my eyes! It was so great to hear you got the opposite as to what you expected! - It's great that agent 4 also was much more in line with your ideas for your book. Congratulations with your agent! It sounds like Bailey is THE perfect agent for you! I'm really happy for you 🥳🎉

    I would be more impressed had you seen some thing during your walk - a child crying, a woman hurrying along the street and disappearing into a doorway like a magic trick - there in one eye blink and gone the next, - or anything that caused your imagination to ask "why that?", then coming back and in the next 12 hours producing a finished story of what and why and the outcome of their actions. I find the best ideas for my stories occur like that. There is a famous street photographer who says a worthwhile photograph never occurs when you go out looking for it, it happens as you are going somewhere for some other reason - and there it is in front of you. Always have your camera (minds eye) with you.

    What you said at the close of day one is precisely what I thought was going to happen (the loss of the bird's eye view). I chop and move copy pasted sections around so much in my writing that I wondered how to make that work with pen and paper.

    Really enjoyed the video and your journey. Well done and congrats! I just began my journey at the end of March and am at 12 submissions and 2 rejections so far, one of which was quite a positve rejection if you know what i mean. I used to be a daily nespaper journalist and people say that it must be easy because you're a pro writer. But they are wrong. Writing a novel is completely different and it cuts no ice with agents. They either like the story or they don't! Anyway, good luck!

    I resonate with many of your choices and would like to share some of my favorites: If you enjoyed The Secret History (Donna Tartt), you might like: Gone Girl (Gillian Flynn) The Silent Patient (Alex Michaelides) Absolute must-read: A classic that I enjoy every time - The Master and Margarita (Mikhail Bulgakov) Other Favorites: Monday Begins on Saturday and Roadside Picnic (Arkady Strugatsky and Boris Strugatsky) Man's Search for Meaning (Viktor Frankl) Series: Shades of Magic (V. E. Schwab) The Book of Dust (Philip Pullman) The Stormlight Archive (Brandon Sanderson) I’d love to hear from those who have read these books as well. 😊

    The Remains of the Day is a beautiful book; the theme of duty is far more interesting than it seems when you hear what the book is about, because of the author's wonderful insights about what makes a worthwhile life, and what, on the other hand, one might have by way of regrets. The other thing that makes it so good is the writing style, and I was pleased to hear you talk about style, something I haven't heard anyone on booktube do yet, but since you write, yourself, it's inevitable that style is something you've thought about. I find it forms a huge part of my reading taste, rather than just what the plot is. I don't know how you manage to read anything, though, while writing; I can't do that when I'm so caught up in my own developing plots and themes! Do read The Remains of the Day soon though, 'cos you'll love it.
