Here at Astro Escape, we go over all things astrophotography, starting from the very beginner level, and working our way up from there, all to help you escape the day-to-day and enjoy your time imaging the night.
While I will mainly focus on Deep Sky Astrophotography, there will be times when we will branch out to wide field and even visual astronomy, especially when something is happening that everyone can see without optical aid!
I recommend Agena Astro for your shopping needs: bit.ly/3BB26P8

Full reviews of gear will require a minimum of six months and/or ten uses across different nights, before an honest full review can be completed. This will ensure an accurate review of all features of the item. Unboxing and first time use will be of my initial impressions of the item. Any item focused video will be of my own opinion and will not be paid or swayed by the manufacturer. Payment for gear videos will only be for my time to test the item and produce the video.

Your videos have helped me in the past and when I finally upgraded from dslr to asi2600mc, I couldn’t get the camera to power. I was using a power converter, and your AM5 set up video mentioned to power directly to portable power, which worked. Glad you’re doing better and had to sub to the channel.
Hi. I am a Capricorn. But when I plugged my birthday into Stellarium, it says that I am a Sagittarius. Having an identity crisis. Please help.
I know this is a late response but I am using a Zenith star 61mm, a canon rebel, a field flattener, a snap cable for the dslr, and a Star adventurer GTI.
My Canon EOS SL1 has a red menu option. I assume the SL2, and now SL3 do as well. This has worked great for my Astro photography at Headlands DSP. Disappointed to find out my new Canon 5D Mark IV Does not 😢. Now looking for a static film to fit the LCD.
What guide scope and camera are you using?
Great tips!
Great detailed, clear and useful video, thank you !
where can you find the chip width? what is that equivalent to, as I cannot find that in the specs.
I use the ST-10 CCD on my 10" f/7. I recommend it if available
Still out of stock?
I use bluestacks 5 my laptop and my quest 3 with virtual desktop
Confusing the issue with extender, etc… just cover the station mode config would be clearer
416mm
I didn’t see you set mount to go to home position after auto run. Did you set recalibrate after meridian flip.
I didn't mind focusing until I started doing narrowband, and after a few botched narrow band stacks, I got the EAF. Can't wait to use it.
That is so awesome! Do you know why at image sequence settimgs I am limitet to 30s ? I am trying to take 120s but doesen't let me, maybe I am missing something...I have a Nikon D3300
Thanks for the video on how to use this lens etc. A couple of observations that you may have missed, wearing a black top with black components makes things almost invisible. Using the silver dovetail, just slide the two rings towards one end rather than centred, this allows the camera to be easily rotated and not being restricted by the silver dovetail rail.
can you explain how you do dark flats, do you remove the white t shirt and light panel, i am confused
I am thinking of getting into Astrophotography and this has been very helpful. Thank you
Je viens de recevoir le mien. Très facile à monter. Va bien allé sur le AM3. Ne reste plus qu'à acheter les accessoires.
Excellent video. With my 4 inch ED-FPL51 refracfor, from a bortle 6 city, magnitude 8-10 galaxies look like very very faint clouds.
For manual dithering, instead of losening a ball head, couldn't you just kick a random tripod leg between exposures?
These videos are incredibly useful btw ty
For God’s sake why did you spoil the presentation with that horrible background metallic sound ( some may call it music!!!). This has become so common in vlogs that I have simply cut down my KZread viewing.
If you slide the rail towards the front of the lens you can get clearance for the camera to rotate 360 degrees.
You have much knowledge of the asi air. I am having the problem with making backup copy of the o.s for the pro model. I used win32 disk imager tried with 3 new disks But it wont boot up in the asiair pro no wifi signal to android device and no wifi green light comes on or even flicker on the unit. I even downloaded the os online Read then write to disk and still not working and purchases good quality disks Im tempted to take it to local computer repair store and see if they know or figure it out Is it possible i need to copy my License key numbers to the os It looks like a notepad file? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!
This is the best tutorial so far. I’m just ordered a Asiair mini, 120 mini guide scope, ASI585MC Pro and starting to merge over to astrophotography after 2 years of just visual astronomy. Total beginner and a lot to learn about astrophotography and settings. Probably will watch this about 20 times.
I am starting with imaging and I will start with a SA-GTi, skywatcher ed72, 294 mc pro and 120 mini guide scope. Lots of people told me that I should start with something less expensive and complicated, but I think AsiAir will do this so much fast and easy
I’ve been messing around with my Asiair mini and every time I try video mode it will fail for some reason saying not enough stars. 🤷♂️
My SWSA just arrived last week and I just wanna know when framing and tracking for milky way with a foreground only, using a Nikon D850 and a Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8 wide angle lens, is it okay if I can just use the ballhead adapter and ballhead configuration only and no need for the bracket with counterweight? The camera and lens weighs a total of almost 2kg (4.4lbs). I will be shooting milky way with a foreground using a wide angle lens and not a deepsky object.
2:56 the second you break the seal (...) you can introduce new dust(...) 3:26 slap an old cotton tshirt that will rain down a gazillion fabric specs right on the front element :D
I soon as you put a camera on I skipped
would it be viable to get the asiair plus for just the guidescope if your camera isn't compatible?
Thanks for this video. I'd like to know if a base model Steam Deck is a good option for primarily visual astronomers who only need a Windows machine for polar alignment with iPolar or PoleMaster. The screen looks big enough for alignment, yet the unit is small enough to be portable and easy to pack away when alignment is finished.
Odd that no-one ever covers how to download Deep Sky Tracker. It's not as simple as you would think. We'll teach you how to drive a car, but you can't have a car.
Loved the video. Very helpful and well structured
hi! For me not working. I got plackpoint error. I trying to put flying bat nebula but I used different pictures. not working. Do you have already the converted flying bat nebula for stellarium? or someone can send me please?
Great videos. As I'm going through this step by step; at the polar alignment process I'm uncertain what to do once you've got your mount polar alighnment approximately. Where is the OTA pointing at this point? Should you point it at NCP and just get it close before you proceed? How does that work because there's no camera on the mount polar alignment port. So, I figure you must be orienting the main scope and camera. When the first plate solve begins it must be the scope just figuring out where it's pointing? Do you have to have the NCP in the scope view before plate solving? Thanks for any help here.
you mentioned talking to ZWO about the wifi and a potential followup video - any updates on that?
I've spoken with them about it and it got passed on to the dev side of things. Haven't heard much since unfortunately but with the new models they keep releasing, I'm guessing they are keeping it in mind.
Great Video! Do you think these steps would also apply to the new Redcat 71 WIFD?
What light panel should I use?
Canon eos 90D
Thanks brother. Finally got my ASI air connected to my mount.
Hey man, how do you power the mount and asi air? have you plugged the mount into the asi air?
Out of curiosity, does the focus setting have to be the same when shooting Flats? Also, I'm not sure if the temperature has to be consistent as well. If the temperature is not an issue, could I photograph a blue sky during the day with the same lens and use that as a Flat? Obviously, the shutter speed would normally be high so I could use an ND filter to increase the exposure time.
As long as you have your family and loved ones around, you're in heaven on earth. I understand that now after I lost a few. Your mental health will be fine. Just take it easy and do youtube at your own pace.
Good to see you again Kia Kaha (stay strong)
Hi, awesome video. I have only recently found your channel and I have to say so far you are by far the easiest to understand and follow in these tutorial type vids. I'm 14 months into astro and recently got an AIR to use with my DSLR ( T3i modded ) so this video is literally a Blessing from above because i've had a nightmare getting my AIR to work both with my DSLR AND my mount! ( which incredibly happens to be the same as yours! ( HEQ5 Pro ). Thanks sooo much from Liverpool, England! Wes.
Great video! I didn't see anything about calibrating the focuser for maximum in/out. I bought and EAF and will be installing it on a EdgeHD8. I currently have a Celestron Electronic focuser and it had a calibration routine which ran the first time. I tried using the Celestron focuser first but every time I try to focus it disconnects the ASIair from my AVX. So I bought a EAF to see if that will be better. But I am looking for information on calibration. Thanks!
