In this video, we go over how to take a mosaic with the ASI AIR. It's a fairly straight forward process, enjoy your time taking these shots!

    Great video Dylon. I wonder if we will get dome controls soon. Seams like that is one of the few features not in there yet. I spend a lot of time going back and forth with the number of subs like you did here trying to time the finish of the plan when twilight starts.

  • @AstroEscape

    Dome controls would be sweet, for those that have/plan to use one! The timing for mosaics are a bit of a crapshoot because of dithering and meridian flipping. It would be nice if ZWO added in an estimated calculation that includes those added times.

    @@AstroEscape Yes I have noticed that too. Like I have to give it an extra hour maybe two because of dithering, focusing and flips.

    Dylon I always enjoy your videos and your encouraging presentations. You may not have tried the mosaic mode with the new update, but if so, I hope you don’t mind lending a helping hand. I’ve been trying to implement the mosaic on the new update. I’ve tried everything, I’m exhausted. I’m able to get the panes transferred into the plan mode but, typically I either get “select a target” (which I don’t understand since the target name is clearly listed in the box) or my imaging gets stuck on the same pane and not progressing to the second, third, etc. pane. I just did a firmware update…I know I’m missing something…..Man, would I love a precise sequence of how to get plan mode to work with the mosaic. I’m hoping you might have some insights on this and can break the process down to the most minute level. I’ve wasted three nights now, and I’ve tried every trial-and-error combo. Help!

    The weather and my day-to day schedule hasn't been playing nicely together and I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet, but when I do, a video will follow. When looking at each pane, do the RA and DEC look slightly different in each pane? They should.

    Thanks very informative, but I would like more information on how to set up and pair Telescopius to my ASIAIR Plus, assuming that nothing, no pre-images or anything else were taken 🙂

  • @AstroEscape

    @AstroEscape

    Жыл бұрын

    You can't really pair the two. They are two different services. The ASI AIR can accept what Telescopius puts out for coordinates, but there's no way to make them talk to each other unfortunately.

  • @markmuratore413
    @markmuratore413 Жыл бұрын

    Great video. Thanks for making it. Can you take the coordinates straight out of Telescopius? I have heard it uses different coordinates than the ASIAir. Thanks again!

  • @AstroEscape

    @AstroEscape

    They set up the coordinates that get exported to be usable by the Air, so technically, yes you can. But they need to be formatted a certain way to be usable, which is where "copy CSV" comes into play.

    Thank you for all this info on the ASIAIR, (having just bought one) it's good to see. I'm new to telescopes and I'm watching your stuff, it's great. I AM confused about one thing though...how do I tell the ASIAIR where 'Home' position is?

  • @AstroEscape

    @AstroEscape

    Жыл бұрын

    Welcome aboard on the ASIAIR train! Home position is where your mount is set at the default position..... basically pointed at your respective North/South pole, being perpendicular to the ground. If you start the AIR there, it'll be the default home position.

  • @tomservo3728

    @tomservo3728

    @@AstroEscape Thank you! so basically, wherever the mount position is when you fire it up, that will be recognised as 'Home'?

    Great video again Daylon. I see you are using an android device for screen recording. I’ve had bad experiences with the Apple devices I use. Screen recordings almost always get choppy or just barely useable. One suggestion for future videos; it might be even clearer if you add a little tap indicator animation on top of the icon people need to tap.

  • @AstroEscape

    I think the app I use for screen recording can do that. The tablet I use doesn't have built-in screen recording, but I'll have to check later when I get home from work. I agree with the Apple thing. The few videos where I show an Apple device it was a little touchy getting it all to work. Doesn't help that the iPad I use for that is almost 10 years old, but the Air app still works on it haha. Thanks for watching and the feedback, Martin!

    Thanks for the video, very informative, I seem to be having trouble when I copy the CVS across. It looks all lined up on Telescopius but then when i check the positioning on the ASI AIR map its not quite right, it doesn't line up enough to make a 2 panel mosaic. Any tips on what I might be doing wrong?

    Flats in between each frame? Or can they just be taken at the end of the entire session?

  • @AstroEscape

    You can take them at the end of the session. If you do multiple nights though, if you moved anything or tore the imaging setup apart at all, you will need to take sets of flats each night.

    It would be nice fir the unit to pan around the moon or a large nebula without needing to import the data. Something like select Orion Nebula and the dimensions you want to shoot around it. I do not know if I woukd want the unit stitching panels together. It takes forever to stack from a video.
