If you buy fresh liver, then you dont have to cure or bait wrap. It can be chunked easy. Fresh from asain market or another butcher will blow the mind. The bait they sell is liquid. Old, and rotten. Fresh liver at least doubles effectivness, and simplicity of an amazing bait

You have to take into account for humidity as well. I like to set my salt mix out in the sun for a few hours and let it dry out even more. You can dry salt out in a oven or a hot box.

We had set ours up out of reach from the animals. Sun dried livers are the way to go. If you want to you can freeze the portions that you want to keep for later and you could even vacuum seal to keep even longer.

  • @PaulGriffin-ox1gp

All you need to do is 12-24 hours in the salt and then sun dry to finish.

You can buy just plain salt and it's cheaper than pickling salt. You can add garlic and other flavors in your salt. I've used soy or other dried sauces.

    Never thought about soy

I've actually salted and sun dried livers and gizzards. It worked but it made the liver so tough that it took sa good deal of force to get it on the hook.
