Nadal goes & packs Zverev’s bag - the man is just all class. Horrible ending to a really up & down match. As a Nadal fan I am glad he is through but never want it like this. Best wishes to Sascha on his recovery - really hope it isn’t as serious as it looks!

What a tragic end to this intense game. Zverev's screams are still ringing in my ears, one can only hope that it will at least be enough for the US Open in August. You don't even want to imagine how long this match would have went on. I can't remember the last time they hit the three hours mark before the end of the second set.

Do you think it was a problem with the court like a hole or a rock, or Zverev's shoes grip the clay too hard, or what happened? You see these devastating ankle injuries on hard courts where profi shoes just bite themselves into the surface and stop mid slide, but on clay it is so unusual, especially when Zverev didnt do anything wrong, he chased a tough ball, started sliding a little and suddenly the shoe stops dead in its tracks and the whole body goes over, probably tearing his ankle tendons and ligaments to pieces. If it is a sprained ankle, he is back for Wimbledon. If he tore his ankle apart, he will be lucky to play next year's Australian open, as that means surgery, 6 months rehab before he can train 100%, and a couple more months getting his tennis mojo back. Heck even Federer underwent a knee surgery right after Wimbledon and everybody was surprised he healed and got ready for AO 2017 that he won despite all ods.

@@niklFIT I had the same injury a few months ago from trail running. he probably tore his outer ligaments, its just bad luck sometimes. id not think there was anything wrong with the material or stuff. it will probably take more than 8 weeks before he can play again, but its not a super bad injury and usually doesn't need surgery

I've been Rafa's fan for 17 years but I would never ever want to finish match like this. Sasha left everything on court so it seems really unfair to leave the court like he did. Life can sometimes put some obstacles in front of us and it's full of highs and lows but we need to stay resistant. I can still hear Sasha's scream echoing in my ears but I believe he's gonna be back soon at his absolute best fighting as a champ. I just wish him a speed recovery! And I also feel bit sad that Rafa could not celebrate a proper victory but I believe he's gonna do the big one on Sunday. He's just such a world class on and off court. Well done! '
Zverev played an incredible Tournament, hope he get well soon ...

This hurts to see since both played an amazing match. I am by no means a fan of a specific player at all, but the sportsmanship of both here, is amazing. Zverev coming back to withdraw, Nadal picking the bag… gave me goosebumps.
So unlucky i hope he wins a grand slam he deserves it
Zverev has been playing so well this RG, and so composed and focused, as I've hardly seen him in the past, like he is finally maturing. @@karlatkinson4397 I don’t know for sure, but before he had the final injured, he already shown some bad manner like accidentally throwing away the racket when losing a score. It might not be impossible for him to wrinkle his angle at the anticipation of that he couldn’t defeat Nadal. Maybe it’s better for him to take an excuse rather than being announced a real defeat. Un abrazo muy fuerte desde españa a zverev. Ojala no sea nada y lo veamos en winbledon. Vamos rafa!!!!! Que lastima. Nos estabais haciendo disfrutar muchisimo.
Let's begin with Nadal looking seriously concerned. He does not want to win like this. He has proven to be a class act and a good sportsman for years now. And he knows, how heartbreaking it is, to leave the court with an injury and how hard it is, to come back from any injury. I do hope, he wins it all, however.
Nadal looked absolutely concerned! I think he‘d rather won the Match in a regular way!
You could sense that it wasnt meant to be. A racket slipped out of his hand on deuce 4-3 in the first, got broken, had 6-2 in the tiebreak and lost the set, 5-3 in the 2nd made 3 double faults. And then this. Rafa was on ropes the entire 3 hours

To cry like this man... not the best moment for him.
That's terrible. The Paris clay court including Wimbledon are very slippery and dangerous courts.
I mean i had the same injury at age 14 and I didn't cry. In my opinion he didn't cry over the injury more so over the fact that he didn't make it to the finals. That's how they earn millions, injuries are part of the life of a professional sportsman. The moment sucks but it isn't as bad of an injury as it looked. Trust me I tore my Achilles once playing basketball and I felt like i was dieing on the basketball court, hearing that "pop" sound, a pain you can't even imagine if you haven't experienced it and knowing this is most likely the end of your career. Sashas injury is nothing like that so dont worry. With this injury here Sasha will still have a smile on his face when he sees his paycheck. He ll come back and win Roland Garros like he s supposed to with his talent. He ll have a bright future, don't worry
I tore all my ligaments in the left ankle 2 months ago. Thursday i played football again. I had tears in my eyes when i saw him rolling on the ground. I remembered the pain and the wait. I hope he recovers well and is 100% for US Open.
very sorry to see this, he is brilliant and young, sure that he'll be ok and come back to courts as soon as possible.
He honestly played a phenomenal tournament and for this to happen to him in such a crucial moment for his career... I hope for a speedy recovery, he should be back for US Open if things are not worse than we've seen. I know how severe this injury is, I broke my ankle, had to stay 6 months in rehab and painkillers and a lot of physio recovery and I am not a professional athlete like him. He will be back in 3-4 months at most. He's a fighter!
All the best to Zverev! He's my favorite player

Terrible.
Reminds me of what happened to Mattek-Sands

Sarà un caso che zverev si sia fatto male .... Secondo me non proprio.... Quando giochi con uno come Nadal che la mette sulla forza fisica e tu hai un gioco che di basa sulla tecnica.... Bhe puoi andare anche incontro ad infortuni e quindi questa non è sfortuna ma bravura e durezza fisica dell'avversario

This is definitely extremely sad to see this, from such a high-level match trying to fulfill dreams into an injury within a moment. I think this is the toughest challenge in Sport.
