ZORAN & THE ENCHANTED ISLE! 13KM SOLENT CROSSING TO YARMOUTH & BACK VALKYRIE / DELPHIN SEA KAYAK

Спорт

This was a local trip we often make but the first time offshore for Zoran and the fist Solent crossing for him.
As always, planning involved the tide and weather - planning within the skills of everyone coming along. We picked a calm day as the strong Solent currents soon create rough conditions with a bit of wind.
Most importantly though was a landing site with easy access to coffee and cake!

Hi, great video as always. What paddles are you using? What's the length?

Thanks Pawel. Mine is a canoesport b4. It wasn't a scientific choice, it was a bargain on ebay while my Werner was away for a new ferrule. Its about 215cm. Rosa and Zoran are both using a werner camano. Rosa has my 215cm with the new ferrule and Zoran is using a shorter 205 one.

🤣 haha.. this was just moored thankfully. It would have been an extra challenge to do that while it was sailing.

what is the distance of the crossing?

Hello. The round trip was around 13km on the GPS. The crossing itself is around 4km of open water each way. Its not a crazy distance but the tides are often quite lively in the Solent so this crossing still needs some thought and planning to be safe - especially as mentioned in the video some of the team had low flying hours. If you are keen to try the route, I will be happy help.

@@GoneKayaking Thanks, general interest as I live on the West Coast of Canada, looks interesting low. If I am in that neighbourhood I will reachout. Fairwinds

@@TC-iz1im Great. We're always happy to meet new paddlers. I'll be in Toronto briefly in the next month or two. Maybe I'll have the chance to do a little video on the lake.
