    Thanks for watching! I’m pretty new to field recording and been wanting to pick up the H1n, but held off since it was such an older unit. I couldn’t resist the H1e once I saw it released lol.

    hi . this is my first field recorder do have any issues with noise in background? when i listen to the rec file the volume is toooo low . i must normalize it to ear something but get a lot of noise in background . pre- amp issues?? I also tried with different microphones but same result . the only solution is to remove the noise in post production and it's annoying

    Hi. Keen to know yr thoughts of DJI vs the Zoom. In particular I’m thinking of using one of them with a lav mic - the small form factor of the DJI could be a winner although the Zoom has more uses. Any thoughts?

    You pretty much nailed it. The Zoom has more uses especially if you’re trying to capture stereo sound. I think if you’re going to be mounting it to a lav anyway, the Zoom is the better choice. BUT, the DJI is definitely more durable, I’ve dropped it a couple of times and it still works perfectly fine. I think if I dropped the H1e, that thing is going to break. It’s also easier to just tuck the DJI into a pocket and run a wire from it. So I guess it depends on how you plan on using and mounting it.

    THANK you for your video ..... Do you think it is possible to raise the INPUT LEVELS (Gain Levels) , somehow ? (i am not talking about the output levels which can be adjusted) Thank you for your time.

    I have found the handheld noise more noticeable the more I’ve been using it, but it’s not bad. It’s usually when I’m switching hands. I’ll also notice the sounds when I need to press a button and make adjustments. When I’m handholding to point the H1e, I’ll put it on a handheld tripod (like a Joby 325 or Manfrotto Pixi) and don’t notice the handheld noise at all

    cool, thanks - just holding is pretty much fine then, right? if you kind of watch your movements. I'm very weight-constrained due to a hiking trip, so tripods might not be an option.@@ROAMitRALPH

    Hello! Do you have the H1n? I bought the H1n and 1 day after, I discovered the H1E 🤦🏼‍♂️ Yesterday my H1N arrived, and I'm thinking about chande the H1n for the H1E. Do you think that it's a good idea? Or should I keep the H1n?

  • @madeiraislander

    @madeiraislander

    Did you get the H1E? I heard it's pretty much the same, but H1n = 24bits and H1E = 32 bits. Plus H1E has no gain control so you have to edit every sound, while with the h1n you can set the gain correctly right when recording.

    what do you recommend for motovlog and exhaust , dji mic 2 or Zoom H1e?

  • @ROAMitRALPH

    @ROAMitRALPH

    Ай бұрын

    I’m thinking the DJI mic 2 would be best for motovlog since it would be easier to mount. But if you’re going to use a lav, either would be fine. To capture the exhaust, H1e would be better since it’s more directional, but mounting it would be a problem. The handling noise on it is pretty bad. If I had to choose for your situation, I would probably say the DJI Mic 2

    @@ROAMitRALPH i finally got to order the mic 2,, the reason i chose mic 2 it would be more easy to switch from motorbike to vlogs to make a video i think the zoom H1e is for the pros not for a regular joe like me

    @@AllAboutCigarsKSA Nice!! I really like the Mic 2. Oh I’m a regular Joe too, I just like to buy camera gear, so I’m trying to find a way to work the H1e in my workflow/videos lol. Let me know if you have any questions with the Mic 2 (tip: the Mic 2 has a little cutout behind the clip so you can loop your lavalier cable into it to help prevent from tugging)

    Having the microphone so close to the ground gives unusual tones (and actually reduces road noise). Have you experimented with the same location at different recording heights?

    Oh that’s good to know. Sorry, I’m still getting into field recording and learning as I go. I’ll have to retest this and get back to you. Would it be better to mount on a tripod or just on a higher platform?

  • @sr3d-microphones

    @sr3d-microphones

    @@ROAMitRALPH Well, all I can say is, put on a pair of decent headphones and try it at different heights, if you use a stand of some sort it will of course be better for the elimination of handling noises. I tried my SR3D binaural mics and found that the ground had an interesting effect to the recorded sounds, it's like the pickup area is reduced, and that means reduced road noise, but also stops any nature sounds of whatever is only picked up in a tighter circle of range, I would just try different things, but wearing headphones while you are doing it, you'll get instant feedback in what you are doing, and the effect it has, I would guess that a height of 5ft would be pretty good, but then, why not try 10ft, or higher? (I've not tested that yet, apart from being on bridges!) experiment is the key!

    @@sr3d-microphones I appreciate the info 🙏🏼. I’ll give it a go again with headphones and definitely try different mounting methods. Funny you mention binaural mics because I’ve been watching a lot of videos from Free To Use Sounds and been trying to learn more about binaural mics. Thanks again 🍻

    It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. When I had headphones connected to the H1e, I could definitely hear the handling noise, but when I loaded it into FCP, it was nowhere near as noticeable 🤷🏻‍♂️
