This used to be played in all the clubs many years ago!!! Everyone would run to the dance floor!! Great DRIVNG song too!!! PS WEIRD VID ISNT IT,? Lol seedy s a good word for it!

As a kid I never had any understanding of what this song actually was about haha.

I remember when this came out. It caused a huge controversy especially in the UK. The song is essentially a guide to delaying ejaculation. To throw censors off the scent, when "Relax" first came out, the band claimed publicly that it was written about "motivation." Later, they confessed it was actually about Orgasm. In America, any sexual innuendo contained in this song got little attention, but it caused plenty of controversy in the UK. It entered the UK singles chart but soon radio DJ's announced on air that they refused to air "Relax" because of the single's controversial artwork and lyrics. Soon after the BBC banned the single.

This version of the video was considered the uncensored version back when it was released. MTV would only play it after 12 midnight!!! Those were the days!!!

So do I, I also remember when this came out. I was about 17 yo, living in Germany, as a youngster ready for his coming-out :-) And fortunately this video was NOT banned on German TV! It changed my life ;-)

They were the biggest band of the 80s in the UK. 'Two tribes' was the amazing follow up & another no 1 for them. The ballad 'The power of love' was their 3rd no 1 in a row. Fantastic band.

I remember this as a kid… it was all over the radio and I loved it..did not understand it …but I loved the intense beat… amazing …and then later I soon learned …lol… then later in life I purchased the long dance versions…of the songs remixed…and extended…an absolute joy to,listen to….

My dad loved this song. I didn't have the heart to tell him what it was really about. LOL. He used to blare it in his truck.

"Welcome to the pleasuredome" was my favourite Frankie single. The album version is great too as is the video.

there are actually 3 video versions of the song. the original banned one that you just watched, the "concert" version, & clips from "body double" where the band is performing. the latter isn't well known. "welcome to the pleasure dome" has a lot of other good songs on it. "two tribes" might be one you want to check out. holly johnson, the lead singer, has a lot of material available too. one i always recommend is "legendary children".

I love FGTH! This song got all the attention, but "WELCOME TO THE PLEASURE DOME" is the first of their songs that I heard back in the 80s and it's been my favorite ever since. Still have the vinyl. :) Coolest bass line ever, it's why I learned to play the bass. Go Frankie!!!

"The Power of Love" is ok also. Although a much slower song. But good melody. Also pretty ok is "Warriors of the Wasteland".

Two Tribes is the only other Frankie Goes to Hollywood song I know. This was the most popular one for sure. I'm surprised that some people didn't understand what it is about! After all there are no innuendoes to decipher - it is clearly stated in plain language, right away in the chorus 😂

The first showing me this on The Tube (a uk music show) was Impactful ! The thing that really made it big was getting banned by the BBC.

This song was in one of the great 80s Thrillers.

If memory serves, the version in Zoolander was a cover done by Powerman 5000 and one of the guys from House of Pain.

Great reaction! Super producer Trevor Horn was the genius behind Frankie Goes to Hollywood. He was the guy with the glasses in the Video Killed the Radio Star video from The Bugles of early MTV fame. He also produced ABC, Seal, Art of Noise, Propaganda, Yes, Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys, I could go on and on. Check out some of his work: ABC's The Look of Love, Grace Jones' Slave to the Rhythm, Art of Noise Kiss with Tom Jones, Seal's Crazy. they are all spectacular.

When you mentioned you like lions and tigers I remember my best friend because he like the same things you do and only six years ago he had a stroke a bad one he was on his floor for two nights until somebody found him in the morning of the second day and then he had to go to a care home where he could be looked out there all the time but he could go out with friends and family he did have paralyzed leg and arm and a bit of his face and other areas of his brain but between the time United stroke and the year that he died I took him on a special trip down from where we live about 90 miles away and he was able to see a live tiger and Pat it through the cage and then eventually the tiger baby was in his arms and he was crying because he never had one that close to him before we have pictures of them now holding that tiger and I have them in a triple picture frame hanging on the wall in memory of him I know him for more than 34 years I don't know if you reacted to any 80s again but a really good one was We Are The World by USA for Africa that's another really good song you should listen to and comment on there is about 50 people that are famous that are singing the song

It wasn't. That's why there was so much fuss about the song. But the 80's was when we started telling people to mind your own business when it comes to sexuality. If it doesn't effect you personally, stay out of it. Personally the 80's freed me in all aspects of life. My family, " Let's have a BBQ." Me, " No." Family, "Why?" Me, "Cause I don't want to." Very freeing 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
