The amount of research and effort Chelsea puts into these is fantastic and super appreciated.
Kinda weird knowing that corona hadn’t happened yet but when they’re talking about pandemics it feels so much like they are referencing it

Bro I’m listening to this in 2021 and holy shit did this age weirdly. Only 2 years after this and the world fell into one of the “end of the world” type scenarios that they were talking about.

Yeah! This feels super relevant right now in May of 2021.
James: “Yeah it’s fucked up to count bodies” *looks at camera* Me: *Replays every “welcome to the kill count” in my head*
They can talk about anything and I would enjoy it. I love everything on this channel

i love getting all this historical context to horror films!! you never truly think about how everything relates back to politics, even horror! as someone who’s a double major with history and film, i fucking love the research heavy episodes, thank you so much for all your hard work!
I was so excited to hear you talk about World War Z by Max Brooks! The book being built upon a series of interviews from people who survived a zombie apocalypse spread out over time, across the world, and all with varying points of view really drew me in and I loved hearing you mention it
The look James gives the camera at 23:15 had me dead! XD

Watching this two years later during coronavirus. I'm wondering if someone is gonna make a horror film about this pandemic. Might not be good but someone will make it

There are Corona virus romance novels. Of course there will be horror movies.

pearl is very much tied to coronavirus! interesting to think about the fact in like 20 years people will probably be discussing pearl in relation to the historical context of the time just like james and chelsea are doing now
Super late to the convo, but Jennifer’s Body is definitely a movie that was trashed on when it was released but has gained a lot of appreciation later on
"Yeah, it's REALLY fucked up to count bodies" Lol James
My ex-brother in law was a doomsday prepper and I got into it with him for a few years before it got a little to extreme. We had rally points designated throughout our city where we'd meet depending on the circumstances, fallback locations, resource caches scattered literally throughout half the state. I'm a chemistry nerd, so my favorite part was having access to decommissioned military text books outlining highly illegal manufacturing procedures for things I won't name here. That's around the time I realized I was going to far out with this whole thing. It was weird, but fun.
Haha, Chelsea! I did the EXACT same thing for Y2K and announced millennium announcements. My family were going nuts once I got to the first time I was looking at something or walking into individual rooms in the new millennium. They urged me to stop. And of course, amazing episode. I'm as excited for Tuesday as Fridays for Kill Counts.

Zombies are “dead meat” 🤷🏻♂️
PLEASE do more episodes like this about other common horror movie creatures (werewolves, vamps, ghosts, aliens, ect.) I would love to watch more!
I want y'all to know that your podcasts (which I just recently discovered and am currently listening to one after the other) are the only things getting me through my work day. I love how much research and general thoughtfulness goes into each podcast and I have learned so much listening to you guys. As I sit here, alone at home, doing mind-numbing work, y'all are keeping me from going crazy. :) Thank you and keep it up!
It's crazy that last night I fell down a rabbit hole that was all about the Haitian Voodoo zombi stuff, thanks for condensing everything I learned last night into one podcast, this was an awesome episode!
Welp, that's SARS talk is pretty real right now
You guys honestly are the best KZread couple

I have been sick the last couple of days and semi-conscious. I'm now getting my bearings and glad to get my head cleared-up (even at midnight) from a Dead Meat podcast. I love how much you both get into these and I VERY much appreciate how much research and work Chelsea puts into these episodes. CHEERS! 💊😷
Let’s go research heavy episode😊😊😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this one! The amount of research you guys put into these podcasts is just amazing. As a fan and a viewer, that means so much to me! I also loved the discussion of history and how that sort of goes along with film. Great job Dead Meat!
Theory: Andrew Lincoln was cast in the Walking Dead only because he is Abraham Lincoln but the only true living one.

Chelsea does such amazing work on researching for the podcast. I've learned so much on the horror film genre from these episodes. It wouldn't be the same without her contribution!
Nightmares in Red White and Blue is an outstanding documentary. I love the way it walks through American history and shows the parallels between the changes and influences in horror to what was happening in society. Excellent podcast as always. Cheers
Discovered you from the Saw kill counts, and been slowly going thru the backlogs. Huge props to both of you for the "main" updates and the podcasts. Each let you each shine, and both are absolutely wonderful to watch!
James you and Chelsea are perfect
(Edit: Man, this was so good! Chelsea puts so much work into these and it really shows. Props to Chelsea!) Clicked the notification right in time for my internet to stop working. A while later after doing everything to get it working again, finally made it for another great podcast to lighten up my days.
Just used that promo code at shudder.
Absolutely love this episode! I loved the parallels between war in reality and what we're afraid of in film. It's fantastic, really well researched.
Watching this 3 year after its upload just makes me think how hard history has been repeating itself.
Excellent research as always, Chelsea. I love how entertaining AND informative your guys' podcasts are. Love you guys!
the whole survivalist thing going on in the early 2010s was kinda cool it kinda made me wanna look for an old house that's been around since ww2 or the cold war that has some kind of bunker in the basement I just think that would be so cool because when you think about it a bunker is a food cellar with a higher damage resistance stat and who doesn't want a lead lined food cellar to chill in if everything goes to hell
So glad you guys got that Shudder plug in there Shudder is and has been my favorite streaming service since I found out they had Lost Soul (the Dr. Moreau clusterfuck doc) two years ago and that platform is so slept on. All the classic horror, wildass foreign shit, Argento, etc. It’s like a horror geek wet dream.
You two are one of the few people who can make talking about reanimating, flesh-hungry bodies feel so wholesome and cheery.
Your podcasts are the highlight of my day especially while I'm at my workplace. Feel free to make them a couple of hours long haha Chelsea does love her research and James love your stuff
It's too early to call, but I'm interested to see in 50 years if 2020, like 1968, is regarded as signaling a shift in culture.
Was just listening and had to come over to KZread to see the little gifts from Camden! He’s so talented and I geared up a little when James said “my friend camden”
Imagine if he did the kill count on 2012 difficulty 100
If you do the 1950's EC comics and whatnot, and hit on Frederic Wertham, don't leave out that although he was an alarmist, moralist, sexist, and homophobe, the one *good* thing he did through all of that hysteria, is point out the blatant racism in many comics of the time (consistently depicting Africans as ignorant, savage cannibals and so on).

He also was a major voice in ending segregation and even proved that there is no mental differences between the developing minds of white and black kids, which was one of the main reasons that segregated schools were still a thing.
Your videos always cheer me up. Thank you both for making this. You're both awesome :)
Goodness I love this channel!!
Just watched nightmares in red, white, & blue! This awesome podcast made me want more! Thank you for always putting out compelling content!
Awesome work Camden (hope that’s spelled right), and thank you James and Chelsea for always being good people
I'm glad to have came and had a look-see, good stuff! I'm excited for you to have a look-see of your own too!
Wonder if we'll get more zombie movies now with the covid pandemic
Seeing a Dead Meat podcast notification pop up on my screen has made me so happy.
I have always wanted to know more about the this. Great podcast James and Chelsea!
You two have awesome chemistry!!! Love your show and thanks.
If a zombie apocalypse ever actually happened I would die, no doubt
Great podcast. And honestly, Rest In Peace Romero, made some of the most influential horror movies
In this day and age I think I can, in 30 days binge watch Dead Meat Podcast, and the Kill Count. You guys are awesome, thank you for filling my day with awesomeness!
Amazing episode you guys are my favorite youtube channel literally if you guys watch it I'm buying it and watching it later that day love you guys!

Great video guys, i hope you continue to grow as this channel is so unique
Haven't watched it yet but I know it'll be great
Hey I just remembered that Evil Dead exists and I thought that would be a cool thing to do a kill count for! I remember that trilogy was terrifying to me as a kid. I wonder how the effects hold up haha
I love the correlation you made between the 50's/60's & the 80's/90's. As a gen-Xer I never really made the connection before, but now reminiscing, there are quite a few correspondences.
Oh, how funny to come back and listen to them talk about the concept and fear of a pandemic.
Love learning the history behind these movies!
Recently watched Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2. After I have to say it is one of my favorite zombie movies and portrayals. Would love a Dead Meat Podcast on Italian horror sometime to!
Around Halloween you could do a podcast on the history of Halloween! Where it started, why, how. And maybe tell spooky halloween stories lol
It’s so weird reflecting on my childhood and seeing so much zombie anything! Especially since I grew up around that 2000s zombie boom area and now that I look back nearly every game and thing I consumed as entertainment had zombies. Even simple peaceful things like Minecraft had a survival mode with zombies! I remember watching zombies, dressing as zombies, and making “who would you be in a zombie apocalypse?” Jokes with friends. I think the funniest thing is realizing that when I grew up I wouldn’t play tag I would play “infected” in a park with my cousins at night. Seeing all the politics and thought behind zombies really opened my eyes too! Man I love the stuff y’all do and this was a fun listen!
Thanks for another awesome podcast. Excellent research and length, for whom it may concern. XD
Watching this in 2020 it’s so crazy to see James and Chelsea talking about all the crazy things happening in the late 60’s and the same things are happening now
Awwww that's so sweet you guys got a cute fan package from a budding horror fan! So glad to see that you guys have some awesome and creative fans. So cute!
This podcast is 3 years old and the Walking Dead is posiibly finally coming to an end.
Sidenote: the 28 Days Later theme song always freaked me out so hard.
Loved all this new information. Also, I got shudder and already have watched the movie Demons, and was shocked I haven’t heard of it before. Great 80s horror movie. And now I can finally see House of 1000 Corpses. I’ve heard of the app before but glad I had the extra push to give it a shot.
At first I didn't like the podcast but now I love it. I don't think I am the only one like this.
I love dead meat podcast im happy that you got this far
Awesome podcast! Could we also get one about the history and significance of aliens in horror?
favorite podcast to get stoned to lol y'all keep it up

Congrats on hitting one million subs
Good job on research Chelsea
Dead Meat Channel Is THE BEST LOL
The Nightmare Before Christmas did not do great, when it first came out. And then got huge years later.

"That's real fucked up to count bodies" 😂😂😂 James, that face!
This was a wonderful podcast.
The CDC's zombie prep thing was a brilliant thing that I think the red cross used as well around the same time to get people to prepare for natural disasters, like having non-perishable food and what should always be in your car.
Tuesdays and fridays are my favorite days

You've got my vote for a horror comics episode!
Hey can you do a kill count for a cure for wellness? My dad made many of the special effects in the movie:D
Never thought I’d be watching this show for a college project but here I am! (Intro to Public Speaking Course)
By the by, Lucio Fulci's Zombie aka Zombie 2, is rooted more in the history of colonialism than any post-Romero zombie film. It would be incorrect to assume that Fulci had a strong interest in relaying this theme beyond the superficial, but it stands out. In fact, you guys should do a deep dive into Fulci and Italian exploitation cinema. He has a huge CV, but Zombie and The Beyond are two of the best, goriest, and most atmospheric zombie films ever made behind Romero's films.
Bwaaaa!! That was slick, James. I saw that. 23:00
The Judge Dredd remake is a good example of movie that took some time to gain a fanbase.
Hi James.I do love your videos.keep it up.
I loved the way James looked at the camera after Chelsea said counting bodies is fucked up
My favourite zombie movie is the original Day of the Dead by George A. Romero!
I can't believe I get to site this podcast for an essay
The first time I saw Night of the Living Dead was in 2009 at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. It was the best
James (Pre-pandemic): "We are all about not leaving home." Me: "Oh, just you wait, my sweet sweet summer child."
Watching this in a post COVID world is so weird when they reach the topic of globalism
Edge of Tomorrow gained some popularity after bombing in theaters. I think it's too early to say that films no longergain popularity years after release since by its nature, you have to wait.
Hi James I love watching your vids they are the best
You guys should do mad libs like once a month or once every two months! Or make it a segment during the podcast!
Great podcast as always!! Just wanna throw a review suggestion your way that has to do w the content, Return of the Living Dead, the original! One of my fav movies of all time, and would be a super interesting and challenging kill count! Either way, y’all are kick ass, keep up the GREAT work!!!
