You know....After all these years this is the best Zippo repacking tutorials I have ever seen. JOB WELL DONE !!!!
Old video I know but your idea for using the plastic inserts to keep the wick centered between the cotton is genius!!!
Cool video. I've had an unusable zippo on my shelf for a few years . Because of your help , I can finally fix it. Thanks dude!🙂
I like the plastic "ramps" for the cotton! I use my knife but I'll be switching. I also like the trick using the lid to hold the felt. Thanks for the new tips!
Always more room for tutorials! Thanks for adding to the community bud! Keep em coming
That’s extremely different way to stuff an insert. I like it! Seems very effective and also not long to do. Great job!

Thanks! It provides the wick 100% coverage of the cotton so that when your fluid is low, it can wick up every last drop. Sure it will still work with a stub of a wick, but won't be as powerful of a flame and can be blown out easily.
Great video! So much better than trial and error on my part, thanks!
Great video! Those plastic shims are a great idea, I'll have to try that next time. I also didn't know about the lid holding the felt up, that is pretty slick. Always good to have more reference material out there!
Great video. The tip where to put the spare flint is gold. When i change a wick, i put it straight in. Put cotton in, bend it over, put more cotton in, bend it back til i get the whole wick in. Works just as fine.
Good informative video Flint Spring. Hopefully this will help anyone who needs it. 👍
Thanks for the tutorial. I just finished Zippo, and I have to say. it worked really well.
Well....FYI: The small hole in the center of the top felt is where the spare flint goes.
That was a great helpful video. I’ve never seen anyone add as much lighter fluid as you did and I think 3 times would have been adequate. Your other tips were excellent. I give you props !

Comme le coton est neuf, c'est pour la premiere utilisation, pour cela autant de liquide. ☺
I love the clear plastic trick and Zig-Zag. Learn something every day
I do basically the same thing but I get rid of the felt and use more cotton the felt is supposed to be a seal to keep lighter fluid in but because your using the plastic bag you don’t need the felt and you can put more fluid in with more cotton
I'm 30 years old, after watching it, I kept thinking why I couldn't come up with this idea in the past. 😆 you are so smart 🙏✌

Regular Zippos leak vapour from the hinges so Its always a good idea to store a zippo wrapped in a small plastic bag. This stops vapour evaporation. A zippo will normally last a few days without wrapping but if you wrap in a plastic bag it can last over a month.
Excellent thank you. You’re probably going to be a resource for kids now and the future when people will be required to go analog. I’m sure they will be confused by the fact that they should be able to manage their own tools themselves. That’s what guy’s with grey in the beard knows. Good job 😏❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸
I’ve carried a zippo every day since 1987. The best way to have the wick is about halfway up the chimney, and frayed. Never had one fail to light or need to be adjusted or replaced in all those years if it had so much as fumes in it. Set it and run it. My current edc is from ‘09, and it gets struck 30-35 times a day, and the wick is exactly as it was the day I got it and filled it for the first time.

Just wanted to say thanks for this tip.. I've had my zippo for years, it's recently been a bit finicky and never thought to replace the cotton.. I just so happen to have had some cotton bacon lying around and did this, can already tell the difference it made.
Thank you for your tutorial. Much appreciated.

Excellent!
That sandwich bag trick is pretty awesome bro. I’m gonna have to try that. Right now I have one of those rubber plugs installed in mine to aid in premature evaporation but it’s kind of a pain to refill through the tiny hole. Nice tips. I love Zippo’s and I don’t even smoke. Just like carrying one around with me all the time. I’ve got about four of them so far just cuz I think they’re fun to collect.

Plastic shims excellent idea thanks for sharing
Very good, thanks.
You can also put a spare flint in the center hole of the felt as well
Just an FYI, If you keep your spare flint under the cotton for to long the lighter fluid will dissolve it. So it's best to rotate them.
Cool video
Awesomely done thx..! Are you in the Swiss Alps somewhere hearing the cow bells in the background soothes your audience as well
smart idea using those plastics perhaps you know how many millilitres it take to fill then? also i tried using paraffin lamp oil in mine and it was not lighting or when lit left lot of smoke i tried letting sit a day out of its case to dry it out and refilled with zippo fluid but still giving me hard time lighting and still smokes i figured there must be some left over paraffin in it that still messing it up perhaps , will the smoky stuff eventually go away after a few proper fills with zippo fluid? and what should i do let it dry out again or keep it flaming till all the stuff is gone and refill again?
Thanks 👌💪
Thank you

I alway use the case to take the flint spring out

I do like this method
I use two thin putty knives (3/4") to push the cotton in. They double as a way to unscrew the Flint tube. Another KZreadr [@Zippo Fanatic77] posted a similar video.
After how long do you change the cotton ?
the plastic is fort protect that is good thanks .
Great video and amazing mods! How do feel about the rubber gasket vs the sandwich bag trick? I guess the sandwich bag has the advantage as you said of providing a barrier to the metal so it doesnt scratch.

The hole in the bottom next to the flint tube is for extra flint witch is why in red letters it says lift to fill it’s not to fill up with lighter fluid
Vape cotton is legit my man
I watched this video like more than 10 times while waiting for my Armor Polished Brass Zippo. it is name engraved too. Maybe I regret a little doing that as maybe if I polish it the name wont look good lol. Finally I did it, it lights up very smoothly. Altho My lid is kinda loose compared to my other Zippo and it's brand new, that makes me a little upset...also there is a lid gap...sigh... I searched the internet and it seems loose lid is normal...it depends on your luck...sometimes your new zippo is tight and sometimes it's loose.. I use a knife to instead of the 2 plastic strips...more confident to do it that way, much like how zippo fanatic 77 did it. But all other aspects I follow your way. Very smooth light, haha...cotton bacon is magic! or maybe cause it is newly filled? idk.

You deserve more subscribers with the content you put out. I just got a new abyss purple zippo and usually I redo the wick and stuff, and I actually already have cotton bacon around because I vape using RDAs, but I never thought of the thing you did with the packaging when you put the cotton in, or the sandwich bag trick. I’ll have to try it tomorrow after I get off work and see how much better and longer my zippo performs, subbed 🤙🏻
Having an open flame next to that dry cotton is crazy
When q disposable lighter runs out of fuel, remove the flint, it's still a longer one. I keep a couple under the felt
Good video for sure, but i want to say the rayon that comes with zippos is just fine. I unroll and fluff it out, then repack the new insert. Havent noticed any difference in fuel capacity (by weight) nor any difference in fuel economy.. But, if youre repacking an old zippo (or any oil lighter really), cotton bacon works very well

I’m just about to order a new zippo and was interested to see this cotton bacon, I’ve never heard of it, I think like you’ll I’ll just stick with the rayon, taking it out and fluffing it up is a great idea, I’ll definitely be doing that, cheers for the tip 👍🏻

@@pompeylad1977 cotton bacon is used for wicking in vapes, its one of the best wicking materials out there for it tbh. The biggest thing ive noticed is in a zippo insert, it doesnt make a huge difference. Instead, you want to try and make whatever wicking/absorbing material you have as fluffy and pourous as possible. The more cotton/rayon you have in there, the less fuel that will fit. With repacking the rayon inside my zorro insert, using the lighter thru the day, ill get about 8-10 days before refueling. I drive a truck, im constantly changing elevation and temperatures so i wont complaint about the life span, especially since an out of the box zippo would give me 5 days tops

After yoou fill the insert put the corner of a frezer bag over the end felt and insert it in the Zippo case this helps with evaporation fuel econemy wait a while before lighting lots of fumes it will flare high so wait a while clean off your fingers please ask me how I know oh ya !

Just put it in a small plastic bag and wrap it a few times that works best. A Zippo can last over a month with that simple trick
Try using a printer flush ink pot felt. Its the best absorb all your oil.
Can you not just put 2 flints in the lighter hole instead of storing it in the bottom bit?

You can, but this premium stuff supposedly wicks faster and holds more fluid. Not sure if that's true, but it wasn't too expensive and I wanted to try something new.

I always wrap a bread tie around the end of the wick and feed it through first then use it to pull the wick up and through. You know the hole in the felt is to fill through so you don't have to lift the felt, right?

Which zippo version can hold more fuel and last longer given the same use? A torch or regular flame version?

Zippo flints suck,If you want a better quality flint. Get a full size disposable lighter and take the flint out of it and use it in your Zippo. It is a harder, longer lasting and better sparking flint.normally you will have to cut the flint in half... Another thing you can do is use Coleman camping fuel in your Zippo lighter.burns the same as lighter fluid and is a heck of a lot cheaper.a gallon of it runs under 20.00 bucks...

30-40 USD is an arm and a leg for a modular, all-metal lighter in this economy????? what???
Does anyone really need a video to figure this 😂
Now, to complete the procedure, go down to your local gas station, wait for some 'Chad' - type to pull in with his 'Chick' and start filling up, then you pull the nozzle assembly from the tank, throwing it nonchalantly to the ground. Next you light up a smoke, employing your Zippo® lighter (natch), say something badass, like "See you in Hell, Rico" (for extra effect, an accent works well here) and toss lighter, still aflame, into the pool of gasoline. _WHOOF!_ *>`KA~BOOM!!‘
