This guy overall attitude is a bit cringe, imo. He is relentlessly being negative and condescending, delivering "truth" rather than giving an opinion or sharing his experience playing the games he talks about. This video is pretty good compared to the rant he usually make about a game. He is pretty much the opposite of someone like Zepla when it to how he engage in something.

@@lucidd4103 why do you think he's delivering "truth" rather than his opinion or sharing his experiences on things? I've seen his "worst MMO" series and its always him that plays those games, and he's...sharing his experience and giving his opinion on it. I also think a bit of negativity (if that's what you call it), or pessimism is healthy in these games. So many games have slowly changed usually for the worse when people let their overwhelming positive experience made them think "oh this small negative thing is fine". And it usually is fine, but to outright reject that the negative thing exists isn't...healthy. Just pointing out a flaw or flaws does not mean that the whole positive experience is totally ruined. People who really are like that probably don't enjoy most things in life in the first place, since obviously they're just looking for a reason NOT to do x/y thing, rather than admit the game's good...and Josh does point out the good things of the games he plays too. But of course it's impossible to be completely objective, some people are gonna form opinions on a content creator's work whether its deserved or not.

I personally don't agree with the guild wars 2. I was huge fan of Guild Wars and when they released the second game, I was excided for it too. But OMG, so many things got wrong with it. They just can't keep one direction, it feels like every time when they release something, they drop something that they started in the trash can. And I personally don't like to invest time in a story that gets dropped every time when the director changes coffee brand.

  • @Oogrilla

I LOVE Guild Wars 2! I found it so much more enjoyable than WoW because it rewarded me for doing something that WoW punished me for and that was exploration. When I first played WoW I wanted to explore the world of Azeroth, and so from the Blood elf starter zone I tried to sneak through all the zones as a rogue to get to the main cities, I quickly learnt that higher level mobs can see through your stealth and will not hesitate to kill you. Guild Wars 2 however, rewards players for exploration through really big experience gains. There are vistas which are the GW2 equivalent of /lookouts, jumping puzzles that are built into the world that give different rewards, and my favourite which was a big chunk of experience for fully exploring an area and doing the quests in it. You really feel encouraged to explore the world of GW2, its relaxed but world bosses were exciting, it also was the first mmo to give me some sort of story experience though I think FF14 really nails that aspect. Overall, I'd encourage anyone to try GW2 out it's really great :)

Guild Wars 2 saved me from WoW during BfA. GW2 was an old, friendly mmo which I played years ago, at the start, but never bought expansions and fell out of touch with the ongoing story. But when I went back, they had a big "Welcome back" event where they gave away the storychapters for free. So I completed the entire journey with my first ever character I made there years ago, I explored Tyria fully and never regreted it. My friend introduced me to her guild and they are amazing people, who we did fractals together. I still go back to GW2 time to time, beside finishing Shadowbringers. During covid, they fell behind with the development sadly, but I hope End of Dragons will give this game a well-deserved conclusion. Or... make it be reborn and starting a new chapter? Who knows :)

Guild Wars 2 is one of the top 5 MMO's for a reason. It's one of the great 5 because it does MANY things right, but not all of them. Not everything. I love GW2, I loved the franchise since prophecies, but even I know GW2 fails to deliver anything even close to a housing expirence. And the worst is, you actually have a home, which is a poor name for a place where you can put daily farmeable crafting nodes with rare to legendary materials in. The class system is a mess. I mean, it's a good idea and it works because those working on the level, enemy and enviorment design are pure genious, but it can work much, much better. Either you are an action combat MMORPG a la black desert with combos with no roles at all, just 5 people hitting something with some random, vague support skills or you are a target skill game, like FFXIV. But you can't be something in between. GW2 is a well proof of that. I mean, and don't take me wrong, it's not a great game. GW2 it's not a great game, is a masterpiece IMO. But perfection doesn't exists. Like FFXIV having one of the worst experiences from lvl 1 to 30 that I've seen in my life. Those first 30 levels are attrociously bad. 2/10. But once you there the experience improves dramatically from a 2/10 to a 15/10. Every game have something good and something bad.

Yeah you can tell getting such a heartfelt recommendation of GW2 by Josh really gave Zepla some major cognitive dissonance from never having tried it. The way she coped with it was pretty typical, too. Immediately find something very minor but negative to latch onto and dismiss the game in its entirety. So what if there is only one race that fits your supposed "aesthetic"? Go play that race then and discover the actual rest of the game. Plus, the asura are actually quite cute and an even snarkier version of the Lalafell so I imagine she would fall in love with them super quickly. From what I've seen of her humour on her channel, I think a lot of their writing would be right up her alley.

There are a lot of things i don't like in GW2. One of them being the character movement being so floaty. Which makes the jumping puzzles significantly worse than FF's. But, there is more. There is no gear progression, there is hardcore implementation of the store, the inventory management is half the game. They make so many different items that purposidly fill up your inventory and sell you expansions. More, if you don't want to have to constantly be buying salvage kits... buy indistructable ones from the shop. Want an alternative skin for your mount? Shop only. For your glider? Shop only. There are more things from the gearing to the eventual sense of repetition on the maps after the first 2 seasons. GW2 is cool to experience for a bit, but it is not to regularly play. If you look too hard you find a very frustrating game. I do not recommend GW2 to anyone. GW1 was good though, when it was current. I do find it a better game than GW2. I do recommend it instead, though it's pretty barren these days.

Many performers get called out for laughing at their own jokes all the time, but I guess she gets a free pass because she's so darn tootin' adorable? Also, passing on GW2 in mere seconds because the races didn't "look right", while somewhat understandable (aesthetics are a matter of opinion, after all), it makes her come off as somewhat shallow. Being a fan of aesthetics, I see Zepla having too much fun with GW2's genre-best wardrobe and dye system. One feature in gw2 that doesnt get highlighted as much is the fact that you can actually mix and match gear properly. The dyes will make them look like parts of 1 whole set, and then 95% of any the transmogs do not clip against each other- it even adjusts if you will be wearing some long boots for example. Guild wars 2 is fantastic. It was the first MMO I played after being hardcore into RuneScape throughout my childhood and teenage years. Picked up GW2 my first year in college and it’s a game I always go back to during content draughts in WoW or FF14. It’s definitely a game more for collectors, fashion collectors (the true endgame) and alt-o-holics. Great introductory MMO for people who want to try raiding and hard 5 man dungeon content (fractals). End game gear hasn’t changed so if you geared out a character 8 years ago and logged in today it’s still relevant, there is no gear treadmill. Highly recommend GW2 to people who can’t keep up with gear progression MMOs and need a slower pace

I've been debating trying to sell Guild Wars 2 in the comment section here ... and you've done a better job of it. Speaking of jobs, I've found that it's faster to fully level and gear an alt in GW2 than it is to level a new job in FF14. Now, while I'd like to say that means I have a bunch of characters I play, in actuality, I have a couple of favourites and the rest of them are parked in front of a big daily chest for lazy loot. To date, I'm still not sure being able to log out in front of a jumping puzzle reward is good for the game or not.

I have ascended (highest iLvl) gear in every slot on multiple characters and I never once joined a party except with IRL friends. In comparison, in WoW you're stuck at world quest iLvl if you refuse to play with others, and in FFXIV you can't even get past MSQ level 15 because Sastasha is mandatory. Nevermind old school MMOs like FFXI where you couldn't solo anything at all past level 10. But GW2 never makes you play with others, nor does it encourage or reward you for it. It's pretty much a solo open world game. The gameplay itself is good but it barely qualifies an MMORPG because of how it's designed, even though it has all the systems for it.

Runescape is a genuinely good game. The progression system always provides you with *something* to do, but if you find something absolutely apalling the game doesn't force you to do that piece of content to unlock more content. The games progression is as open ended as can be and there's multiple ways to achieve anything you set out to do. The combat is very simple at first, but the end game PvM is still challenging and engaging. If you just wanna run in and rush the endgame and kill all the shit avoid this game, but if you want to experience a massive world with quirky fun quests and content for decades worth of play then check it out. If art style and graphics is a major turn off for you, then i guess you will just have to look past this gem of a game.

There are essentially 2 options that are picked most of the time, 1. Character/Item strength updates 2. World expansions without necessarily increasing player power... Its 3am in the morning, im not goung to write another essay. In a nutshell, I'd like to see some seasonal more MMO games, essentially keep the old version online and allow players to hop in an enjoy the new ride for a couple of months before its simply over and some years later you get another one completely new, no preparation of veteran players and such things. This way games wouldnt feel like a lifetime decision while still being playable with friends and ingame aquaintances. I think there is even a lot to be gained by simply allowing an MMO to actually die, for players and publishers alike. Imagine starting wow nowadays and seeing that there are literally so many achievements, mounts and pets to collect, that everything is just worthless because the contrast between things simply started to melt. There are only so many shades between black and white that we can meaningfully distinguish

I still love my GW2. It's a good game that you can always go back to when there's a downtime in FFXIV. I love mal exploration, jumping puzzles and the best mounts that were created ever in any game - with the physics, and their own gimmicks. Hands down, great stuff ^^ The best thing is, that we don't need to limit ourselves to just one game ^^

Sometimes I feel like playing FFXIV, sometimes I feel like playing WoW, sometimes I feel like playing Sims 4, sometimes I feel like playing City Skylines, sometimes I feel like playing Pathfinder: WotR, and sometimes I feel like playing NBA 2k or MLB 2k. I play whichever game I feel like playing. I tried New World, don't really care for it and will probably move on. I tried several other games and didn't feel them, so I moved on. Games are supposed to be fun, so I play whichever game feels like fun at that time. What I don't do is worry about the games I dislike and stick to the games that I do like. I know it's a hard concept to get behind, but play what brings you joy in that moment. Hell, sometimes I play Raid: Shadow Legends or Cafeland on my phone because that is what I want to do. Sometimes I even put down the games and read or play my guitar! All about what I want to do in that moment and I don't care what anyone else thinks. I agree 100% with what Josh says!

It had its issues and I was able to look by them at the time but the main thing with me was the PvE stat checkers being toxic to others for not having high enough DPS, meta builds being way too OP, and the freaking Cyrodil lag when it was prime hours. I still hop on the game maybe once or twice a year just to mess around in some PvP and it’s still fun. I have a magicka necro that I freaking love.

Gw2 basically does what every other mmo does but better. The only problem is that it's a horizontal progression mmo, so it's off putting to the people who have only played vertical gear grind mmos. It has an awesome crafting system, dye system, combat system, it looks pretty af, the exploration is top tier, it has awesome jumping puzzles, the best mount system, it has dynamic events done well that make wow world quests look like side quests. A structured pvp system that puts all in the same level with skill being the only difference, WvWvW where you can run massive zergs, build siege equipment and siege castles, it is very story driven for people who love that, But in the end, it's a horizontal progression mmorpg and that to a lot of people is not fun. They play for that next piece of gear, that 5% bump in stats.

Guild Wars 2 was my first MMORPG and, much like Zepla with WoW, it took over my life and was my favourite thing in the world. I must have 10,000+ hours in it at this point lol, and it's certainly worthy of all those hours. In my opinion, the official website really doesn't do the game and all its features justice seeing as most of the promotional material is still the same they used years ago when it came out. With its expansions Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire, and soon End of Dragons in February, even without ever raising the level cap its Mastery system makes you feel as though you're becoming more experienced and a part of the world as you learn how to navigate it in new and meaningful ways. Also, again in my opinion, it has an amazing multi-year spanning story extending plot points all the way from Guild Wars 1 in 2004 that are reaching their climax in the next expansion much like Endwalker. (And Zepla was right, Sylvari best race) Since 2017 though, I've mainly played FFXIV. It's become my new obsession and new home a lot like Zepla coming from WoW. Now I mainly only go back to GW2 for the occasional seasonal event or any new story updates and dedicate a week or two to the new content. I'm planning on taking my time with Endwalker and savouring everything the devs have put into every nook and cranny, and then in just a couple months I get to do it all over again with my original gaming darling. I honestly feel spoiled for content over the holidays because of it lmao

OH AND I NEARLY FORGOT Guild Wars 2's version of glamour is so, so much better done than in FFXIV, the system itself anyway aside from the currency used. In FFXIV, you need to have the item in your glamour dresser after spending a glamour prism to store it there with limited space. In GW2, you just need to have unlocked the skin once on your entire account, and then on any character it is permanently added to your Wardrobe with zero limit. As long as you have a Transmutation Charge and are the corresponding weight class (Light: Necromancer, Elementalist, Mesmer | Medium: Ranger, Engineer, Thief | Heavy: Warrior, Guardian, Revenant) you can glamour your gear wherever you are in the world. The edge FFXIV has over GW2 in the glamour/transmutation department is that generally FFXIV's outfits are better-designed and glamour prisms are super cheap, whereas Transmutation Charges in GW2 are either a map completion reward or bought for gems in the game's microtransaction store. It's why I (and many others) used to keep a character slot free to be able to make a new character, spend half an hour sprinting through all the main cities for map completion, and cash in 6 of the charges before deleting the character. It's a hassle, but the QoL outside of the charges is better than FFXIV's glamour. The items you actually are glamouring are better in FFXIV. Dang, that was word vomit. I'm sorry xD
