Nerd Lore: Black Mages often have one eye covered because the style came from Mhach. They used to keep one eye covered to make it easier to deal with the gaze attacks of the voidsent they would summon. The style just kind of stuck.
@Xyrenos

Plus the oversized brims of their hats made it easier to break eye contact completely and their mouths were obscured to make it hard for enemies to tell if they are silently casting a spell
@MenrvaS

One eye covered is a defence against voidsents with gaze and mind control power. Covering their mouths to conceal their spell incantations and wreck people by surprise while dressing in black to further intimidate their opponents. Black Mages also use metal starves instead of wooden ones like White Mages because they don't use surrounding aether (wind-earth-water) iirc, they use their own aether and will alone to cause destruction. Back in the War of Magi, they also use aether from nature iirc.
@karst7575

@@MenrvaS Thaumaturges use their own aether, Black Mages use both their own and ambient aether to amplify the spells further, also the reason for the metal staves/rods, is that they conduct Fire, Ice, and Lightning aether better.

14:50, that's really true about people not caring about what tanks are doing as long as they're tanking lmao I say that as a DPS though, it's something that never crosses my mind during raids. Thanks for all the Tanks and Healers, you guys are the real heroes, you pay a sub so I can have fun
I've seen this eyepatch thing a few times in animes, something about the eyes containing power and you block off one eye either to hold it in or focus it, not sure which.
I have NO IDEA how they'd implement/balance/whatever it, but it'd be cool to have things like a dedicated archer ( more dmg vs support? idk ), or styles of things like monks ( more brawler vs martial artist ), who would obviously use the same weapon types
thx for that reaction video ^^ i never saw his channel before now i can sub to him xD love the dry humour
I main bard and when I first started, my brother would hover behind me and help during fights. In my first trial, he said "now use LB" (all dps were ranged). Then he laughed and said "ok now never do that again. That was sad." I felt so useful in stormblood, only to be destroyed for all of shadowbringers. I would get kicked from extremes for playing bard and my FC constantly gave me shit. I miss the refresh ranged dps skill, but it feels much better with EW thankfully. (Refresh would restore the mp of yourself and party members nearby, really useful for healers)
@dfloriza

I felt really useless in Shadowbringers as a Bard main, but I do feel that EW did restore a little of my belief in the job. There were a lot of things that were cleaned up. I still feel like we're a gateway job to the other two ranged DPS, but I love the kit. I just wish we had a res feature - I think that would give us a unique piece over the other two.
I main a bard...I feel attacked. Plus Iron Jaws makes it easy to reapply both dots so...no biggie.
Look at tiny-itty-bitty man running from sandvich!
Hell with that, I love my BRD main because of all the buffs they can dole out. Wanderer's Minuet is the best because I feel like I'm winning a prize every time I hear the little chime that means I got three glowing arrowheads to unload into some hapless enemy.
You know Zepla is mad when she busts out the Sandy Cheeks voice.
I always thought the Black Mage eyepatch was to help them peer deeper into the void where their spells come from or whatever. Pirates had something similar, but it was for traveling below decks to see, with little light illumination. See better in the dark.
@kenamada5451

NOPE! Black Mages eyes wear was to conceal their eyes from voidsent with gaze or mind control moves. And they conceal their mouths to silently cast spells without peoples notice.
Thank you Zepla for PLD! Everyone's always harping on how difficult the rotation is. Out of all the classes I've leveled, I love PLD the most. Like SMN it's a train rotation. Just following it, youll be fine. I have more problems with WAR in extremes than PLD, cause I have to track a bar with WAR. PLD is just following rotation. This helps me do the mechanics. I really dont understand why other find PLD so difficult.
@samuraicake5015
Жыл бұрын
Your answer is your metric for difficulty seems to be extremes. PLD is relentless, unforgiving, meticulous. Most other classes operate on a prio system in which where you place a skill in your burst really doesn't matter and then outside of burst is easy. Paladin has no burst window and a strict rotation which differs for almost every fight where even a 0.01 difference in GCD changes dramatically your opener and rotation loop. It's harder to recover from because this and one mistake can derail and entire fight by placing gcds exactly where you don't want them.
@Blazingbeard
Жыл бұрын
@@samuraicake5015 yeah that's if you want to play it perfect. I am in no way good enough a player to reach that lvl, and didn't do savage yet. Thats why I reference extremes, mainly Barb. So maybe I can get away with not doing perfect rotation in extremes. It's just that when I don't know what I have to do in rotation, PLD is just, ok you fffed up, now wait a few gcds and go into Req. With WAR for me it's like hmm ok I can press fell cleave now with 50 gauge. Should I press or wait. What do I do, panic. With DRK I'm usually to enthusiastically pressing MP dmg moves and not having enough for TBN. And GBN is a bit PLD ish with a bit more weaving. But also resource based. I think I just don't like the resource management as much.

in terms of rotation and dmg and parses people worry to much about perfection. this is comming from a parser btw lol. the random pf group i ran with to clear p8s part 1 cleared with about 8 seconds to spare and we all parsed zeros as we got the bad mechanic order and there was quite a few deaths lol point is don't wish to commit die when you fk up your rotation, just know it most likely will only effect your dps a little bit and that won't stop you from a clear unless everyone is doing it and also dying lol

I think a good balance would be for 25% of the jobs being very beginner friendly, 50% being moderatly challenging and 25% being really hard. So u have a bit for beginners, aborader spectrum for people that got more experience and want to get away form the easy mode and jobs for the real dedicated players that spend hours on hours in minmaxing rotations. Paladin: Medium Warrior: Beginner Darkknight: Hard Gunbreaker: Medium Whitemage: Beginner Scholar: Medium Astrologian: Hard Sage: Medium Dragoon: Medium Monk: Hard Ninja: Hard Samurai: Medium Reaper: Beginner Bard: Medium Maschinist: Medium Dancer: Beginner Blackmage: Hard Summoner: Beginner Redmage: Medium Thats how i would categorize the current jobs. Despite Ranged Phys not really having a hard Job its is pretty well balanced out in my Opinion. We need those hard jobs that are rewarding to master but we also need the beginner jobs. I think people also often confuse "easy to play" with "fun to play". A good example is Blackmage - its a very hard to min max job with some real wrinkle brain strats for damage optimization but despite that all its extremly fun to play even if u dont do it optimally. So i hope that in the future the rather work on playfun than playdifficulty in terms of changing jobs.

Eye patches are there to appeal to the chuunibyou... Japanese edge lord's. They like to imagine they have a cursed eye often of a different color that they have to keep hidden under an eyepatch for your own safety.
so why is the classes I love to play the five ones at the bottom of the dps graph? also... that person must be defeated in a card battle right now! destroy that ego!
Scholar is eeeeeeasy. If no one plays it, then it's likely because they want a BIG, FANCY weapon instead of a book. ;) It's always the glams...
AST, I bet.
I have to say I disagree regarding the views of Astologian. There use to be a time that the 6 different cards they had did specific things for specific classes, now its been revamped to a simpleton use where even if you mess up.......the character you buff still gets a 3% boon where as if you do it right, they get 6%. Pride in one's class was the mantra of playing the Astrologian for those whom could heal and play with cards AND know who gets what card.
Bard is awesome. All I have to say.
I would think BLM would be a bit fewer and further between. SCH is not really avoided. It remains highly effective and while it seems overwhelming to those outside, its very intuitive when you pick it up.

Blm is the nerd class. You need a masters degree in boss mechanics to play it right.
On the topic of tank damage, I literally know someone who doesn't do/know any damage rotation and only plays tank. But he knows mechanics, is willing to teach, and is super nice. So how can you complain? Rarely do you wipe to dps check in the first place and if all 7 other people are doing damage it without dying he's fine. But if someone dies to a mechanic that's their fault for less dps. Only thing he hasn't cleared is ultimates.
