The one thing this game doesn't have is officially implemented Speech bubbles. I see that you are using them in this video, which is very good. The Speech bubble mod is a game changer and i'm sending feedback in game every day to try to get them to notice it. lol. Even having it as an option to turn off for people who don't want it (for some stramnge reason) would be great. As it is now, if you want to RP... it's VERY annoying having to look down and left constantly to see who is talking, it creates a disconnect from your character.

Preach a previous Mythic raider. Savix a previous Gladiator. Both: RP in FF14 is amazing.

I was also a mythic raider and did high keys, and I love the FFXIV story. Those things are not exclusive. The problem is that the WoW story became so painfully bad on the last few years that you feel stupid for even caring about the lore. Caring about WoW lore is just depressing because the story is gonna go on the worst possible route every time, so you stop caring.

@@briceg986 yeah, the only real reason I could contemplate making alt characters is to make each alt just one job type so I'd have 400 slots for tank gear, 400 for healer, etc. ;) And not having to pay for extra retainers. Two free retainers should(?) be enough per job.

Absolutely loving this channel and your react content zepla, really can’t be understated how great it is for someone who can’t watch streams live. Thanks much!

Savix and I have similar background. I was only into PvP with AION years ago when it was new. But FFXIV does teaches you that there are other ways to have fun. It detoxify your bad habits you learned from other MMORPG and lets you be open about things you'd never thought would try.

I'm really glad you started this channel! It's such a great way to see what's going on in the community through the lens of one of my favourite content creators

Savix is the reason I started FF14 when I watched this video. I’m only lvl 25 but I’m actually enjoying the experience of leveling. Something that was just pure torture in WoW.

This was so wholesome 😭💕 as someone who came from WOW to FFXIV back in April I definitely can relate to all of this. I'm so excited to go into Endwalker with my new FFXIV family 💕

Back in Burning Crusade when I cared about trying PVP. I remember one time when I was druid kitty chasing a resto druid and it was the same thing as in this video. The other player could essentially ignore me because he could regen faster than I could DPS. So it's not just a Final Fantasy XIV problem.

It's not really a problem its by design. You shouldn't be able to 1v1 kill a healer easily, they need to survive easier to help their team. Bring in 4 dps or even 3 with good CC and the healer goes down if they are alone

@@petrus9067 no, it's definitely a problem... i've always loved pvp, but the same day i hit lvl 50 in Star Wars the Old Republic and tried end-game pvp - where people had a stat which reduced damage taken - and me and another damage dealer fought a healer, and simply COULD NOT kill him, i quit the game. and SWTOR had some of the best pvp i had ever experienced! the pvp between lvl 10-49 was sooo good, seriously i loved that shit :P but one look into high-lvl pvp and the completely busted healers and i was out. in FFXIV, it is virtually impossible to kill a healer as well, at least if you're solo. i want the pvp to be good, but at the moment it's utter trash and in reality pvp in FFXIV is mostly pve-encounters with a side of pvp.

This is a weird mixing of worlds I thought I'd never see. Seeing the chad Ret get reacted to by Zepla. What a time to be alive.

This is the weirdest timeline but I love it LOL. All hail booba slider and 2B butt, saving people from an abusive relationship one at a time.

I'm here to say that I really appreciate this channel exists cuz I rarely watch stream but I value Zepla opinion on things related to FFXIV. After all, you and Asmon were the one who introduced me to this awesome game.

Not surprising, I remember Overwatch would do the same thing. Release new patches on PTR and then drop in live with little to no changes.

Yeah the relic weapon user experience... 🤦‍♂️ Where you have to carry around a second weapon so you can turn in your current weapon! Who thought that was an acceptable thing?

Well it's pretty reasonable why that happens actually. Classes are tied to the weapon equipped. The game also locks your class/job from changing when in a cutscene/talking to an npc. You can't just have no job and the turn in takes the relic out of your inventory and replaces it. So you need at least 1 other weapon

FFXIV has many of these hard coded annoyances where it becomes clear that the engine has some heavy limitations. Stuff like item storage are among them, the constant confirming of trivial interactions, the list is long. But all of that is forgiveable by actually being an mmoRPG, at least for me.

Zepla calls this a conspiracy, but one simply has to be honest and admit that there are only so man rationalizations you can use to explain this situation. The devs have not been listening to feedback for so long and refused to fix obvious problems until it was too late too many times, there are simply only four explanations left: A) the people at Blizzard are unable to fix things because A.1) they are stupid A.2) only 5 people work on the game at any time at best B) the people at Blizzard are unwilling to fix things because B.1) they think they are the greates game designers ever B.2) they don't respect the players

You forgot "they don't fix things because it's not financially viable to do so". A lot of the things in the game people complain about are there specifically to make you log in at a stead pace. They don't want raid loggers. They want you to log in everyday so they can have good metrics to show to shareholders.

When we had things like an Artifact fishing pole, class halls that gave unique content for each class, etcetera, people had more to do than just raid log. When all that exists is raiding, people raid log. And when you pad it with non content, people quit.

It's not even a conspiracy, Bellular and some others have secret internal contacts within Blizzard and they have straight up come out and said they were going to launch Legion legendaries with the ability to hone in on your legendary of choice, and some of the lead devs came in and said, "whoa, whoa, whoa, no way we're going to do that, it devalues the value of legendaries." They genuinely believed that players would be happy with any legendary they received. Then when the final patch rolled around they released the ability to purchase the legendary you want to the players as a "Fuck you", so that players would come back to the game and realize that they were wrong. Lo and behold, the players actually liked being able to pick their legendary and the devs were ridiculously spiteful and prideful about being proved wrong. This is only one instance of this sort of behavior since Legion, hell since Wrath when they admitted they hated the Valor system, they have made broken systems their business model. They don't want you to have agency, that cuts into profits.

Since I started playing ffxiv I’ve found that I reaaaaaally enjoy watching videos about people who left wow and gave the game a chance and really enjoyed it. I think it’s because I like seeing them talk about and have the same experiences when I first started out. It makes me feel connected and warms my heart :) r.

I actually wasn't that surprised that Savix would like roleplay in a game that actually gives you the tools. His videos always had so much creative outlet even before, no matter what you think of his style, and I think RP is a great creative outlet for everyday. But ye even so I feel like right now we're seeing a lot of people finally severed from their addiction to their first MMO love discover the wonders that is out there. At least, it's how I felt when I finally tried other ones around WoD, and seeing the reactions remind me so much of that. :) It's so wholesome!

ARR was the perfect start. Shit was slow and we felt like peasants for a bit. Then the game showed us the 2 main threats, who had the cliche destroy the world plan with some extra details. Then the great post arc happened with that CRAZY ending. Then the story just unfolds beautifully from there.

All these wholesome moments i feel like my heart is going to burst i been enjoying it though..

That melted ymy German heart so much Final Fantasy XIV is the real Love, it feels like Home, like the first MMORPGs in the 90ths were Players really try to talk and help each other without pointing Damage Dicks out.

I had a hard time adjusting to the UI as well bc I was so used to Everquest...so I just remade my Everquest UI with the HUD editor and I felt right at home immediately.

There's a lot about FFXIV PvP that I greatly prefer over WoW - I love the scaling and how it's about skill not gear; it was such a breath of fresh air to realize I could PvP with any job after 30 at _any_ level, whereas in WoW you'd be less inclined to queue at 10-16, 20-26, etc. I prefer things being on a template as there's no dependency on PvE gear or some random trinket or proc that throws off the balance. Ways I'd improve FFXIV's PvP: - lean further into the PvP talent options, triple or quadruple the amount, could increase the available CC through this - add something like PvP levels you get by earning PvP experience but it only goes to a set amount (e.g. level 50) - each level would provide you with additional properties (secondary stats), so for example, you could choose to boost your crit or skill speed while in PvP - more maps and capture the flag

PvP actually did use to have those first two things you mentioned. Before Stormblood, there was no scaling or separate kits for PvP, you had your full PvE kit but with slight adjustments, PLUS there was a leveling/talent system on top of that where you could spec into bonus PvP-only abilities. There was lots more CC and it was super technical, gear also made a difference, but that also made it very difficult and inaccessible for new players, especially since you could only PvP at either lvl 50 or 60. The Stormblood PvP revision which changed everything to be standardized stats and separate abilities for PvP made it much easier to understand and jump into, but healers being stupidly OP plus lack of CC means that there's not much room for individual skill and winning in PvP mostly comes down to knowing your role and coordinating with your team. That's ok in its own way, but it still sucks that you need 2-3 people to kill 1 healer. I hate Frontlines and Feast but Rival Wings is actually really fun because there's lots of things you can do besides just bang your head against other players. You can make a difference on your own because of all the different objectives and mechanics like the robots, but it's still a team effort overall.

@@VideogamesPang Oh interesting, didn't realize they had such a revision to separate them. I would've hated it then, and that's not what I'm advocating for. I'm saying keep PvP and PvE completely separate like they are now. I don't want gear or a full PvE kit whatsoever. PvP works better as its own mode. It just needs more iteration on available CC and ways players can customize their job for that mode.

What really bugs me in FF14 getting off your mount. I miss the click the action and dismount. When i am mounted and doing a quest it is a small thing but I keep trying to click my attack button to dismount and attack I really wish they gave us an option for that.

I mean most healers I've played against in the bit of feast I've done will usually panic a bit and won't heal the other party members as often which leads to kills once I quickly switch over after I've built up a burst. This is usually if timed targeting of party members hasn't worked because the healer's good enough to keep them alive.

UI is a delicate balance. Having enough windows to show all important info, but not a window for everything. I really dont like when options are hid behind options in a window, and there isnt a lot of that in FF XIV thankfully.

Was Savix and Asmongolds videos that made me retry FFXIV after I tried ARR years ago and got to like level 10 and quit. Honestly so thankful they managed to convince me because I’m only like halfway through HW and I am addicted to this game!!

7:13 One of the things i wish that they could add to the UI is for each layout to remember what's on the hotbars. Example I have the Gear set menu setup and it uses 4 hotbars, which has now removed those 4 hotbars from any other layout

i believe you can set that up in the settings by making the hotbar a shared hotbar, probably will have to set them up again though if i remember correctly since resetting the hotbar to a shared one clears it i think

It's weird how I used to play a lot of MMO's, but nowadays I love all about MMO's except playing them. rly? thats kinda funny cause for me its the exact oposite, i cant rly play games before i watched 10hrs of guides and how to quick start and get to endgame in ya 1st day cause i can only think about how much time i would waste if i wouldnt do so and i only have fun if im efficient in what im doin also often i just want to do all content asap and quit after to get a new game doin the same thing (i know not the best way to play a game xD)

I personally think ARR is important, it's slow because it does a lot of setup and world development. So if you skip it to get to the good part, the good part becomes LESS GOOD because you missed the context and buildup. That's what I think.

Many years ago I remember a comedian that had a joke about VCR manufacturers. Something along the lines of, first VCRs had a play and a stop button. But then the new and improved ones had play stop and rewind! And you would buy that one. But then the next version had play stop rewind and slow mo! And you of course had to upgrade to that one. Yeah it's a bad joke but that seems to be how Activision Blizzard programs WoW.

I quit ARR at levels 48. I was quite burnt out at thT time though, post arr is better, but I don't know if I could have pushed through , especially since that was in stormblood and the quest rework had not happened yet. Coming back later because of the glorious jesse cox and not having to redo the 1-50 content again worked out well for me. I'm almost done with 5.0 now. It was a blast.

There is a mod to enable them, and it looks absolutely amazing! doesn't do any of the negative things all the nay sayers say it will do and adds SO much depths to speaking and communicating with people... I just WISH it was officially implemented, absolute game changer. Baffles me WHY these modded speech bubbles can't be put in the game and as a toggle option for those that don't want them. You can even SEE them in this video! They are so good!

Recently tried FF, playing it moderately alongside EvE. And i totally get why people love RP community here. Game gives you every tool you ever wanted for it and whole worldbuilding and game design create this unique atmosphere when your mind "dives" into this fantasy world, like in good DnD session.
