    This makes me so happy, Resident Evil 4 (2005) and Twilight Princess were the first video games I ever played, I was only 3 years old at the time( I was born in 03 played these both in 06) so these are very important to me, RE4 being my favorite game of all time, I’ve always put RE and Zelda in the same boat and like to compare for same reasons, loved this video 💚

    Z1: Skyward Sword is my 4th favorite Zelda game, with 3 being Majora's Mask, 2 being Twilight Princess, and 1 being Ocarina Of Time. Z2: Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom are not a reboot, but a sequel to the Zelda chronology. The chronology splits into multiple paths shortly before the end of Ocarina Of Time, and then the paths converge back into one and go into Breath Of The Wild. R1: I like the Resident Evil games before 6, especially 2 and 4, which are the only Resident Evil games I have. R2: When I first played Resident Evil 2, the first Resident Evil game I ever played, I thought, "This gameplay is kind of similar to the back alleys of Castle Town Market from Zelda: Ocarina Of Time."

    Ikr, what's so outlandish about a resident evil game where Chris kills your wife and sends military dudes to snatch your baby from it's crib, calling you an asshole for questioning him before knocking you out, waking up to find that your house was actually 20 mins away from the medieval village of an evil immortal goth witch who's kidnapped your baby from the military dudes who kidnapped your baby so she can use your baby to bring back her baby, to do this she cuts your baby into 4 pieces and puts them into 4 baby flasks before giving them to a possessed doll, a hentai vampire, a swamp man, and magneto respectively, you have to fight through a bunch of werewolves to fight the monster mashers and get the baby flasks, you meet Chris again along the way and he calls you an asshole again, by then you get 3 baby flasks and magneto just gives you the 4th and you leave them in a big alter out in the open for safekeeping while you go fight magneto anyway, after magneto kicks your ass you meet Chris again and he doesn't call you an asshole, instead he gives you a gundam as an apology cause he forgot to tell u that your wife he killed was actually the evil immortal goth witch the whole time, so now since you have the gundam you can fight magneto's kaiju form, so anyway meanwhile the evil immortal goth witch somehow just grabs the baby flasks from the alter and puts your baby's baby parts back into one baby because she actually wanted the baby in one piece the whole time and just thought the baby flasks would be kinda goth, so you go fight her and you die and Chris takes your baby and wife while you explode and Chris is all like "damn bro maybe I shoulda used my words or given him some of this sweet military stuff but there wasn't any time, kinda cool of him to do all the fighting and dying for me tho, he kinda goated." And then everyone clapped. (I do love the game)

    you can also put metroid on this list. in all 3 you are trapped in scary places that have you solve puzzles and open doors with different keys you find inside the maze. while also sometimes being hunted by a scary beast (like the SA-X in Fusion or the EMMI in Dread.) metroid in general was always basicly seen as one big zelda dungeon by the dev team.

    Great video! There sure are many similarities in long running franchises created in japan that managed to reboot themselves in the time frame of 2016-2019, and generate sequels that distance themselves from the original while rereleasing remasters of older titles. This is probably not a coincidence, but a formula that will be exploited by other gaming companies. God knows Sega would have done it for Sonic if they could just nail the making a successful reboot part.

    Step 1: Rename "Secret Stone" to "Spiritual Stone". Step 2: Completely throw out the Sage cutscenes in favor of something directly about said sage, each coming to their own decision to pass down their sacred powers. The Zelda plotline gets pretty stupid, since all four Sages mention her. Step 3: Have "Find Princess Zelda" quest clear once you see the final memory, so you can tell Purah, and do the Kakariko step any time afterwards. Link will already know about the fake Zelda from the Lurelin Village cutscene. Heck, if done in this order, make it clear the characters know the Phantom Zelda in Hyrule Castle event is a trap, but that they need to deal with it.

    Wait, I'm confused. Why would Zelda fans be toxic and hateful toward RE7 fans? Also, before BotW, Zelda had always been about tight level design with Metroidvania-esque exploration, whereas BotW was all about free form exploration with all tools unlocked from the beginning. Which I'd say are pretty antithetical design philosophies. In fact, I'd guess that BotW was intentionally designed to be the antithesis to Skyward Sword. And Zelda fans are certainly not quiet about this.

  • @daniel8181

    @daniel8181

    5 ай бұрын

    @@LUVIIKUU I think you misread, they arent toxic to re fans, they are toxic to botw fans; re fans arent toxic to re7 fans. And that is incorrect. The first two games are the opposite of "tight", and the 3rd and 4th games were only " tight" within specific areas. Oot was the first game to funnel you everywhere so you can read a basic heroes journey; and then mm went back to the style of the 3rd and 4th games, ww and tp tried to open up the oot style, and finally ss tried to reverse and double down on the linearity. Botw and totk are the most true to the original games, and is an improvement on another half of the main series. The only thing that botw is antithetical to is the imagined childhood memories of a zelda that didnt exist. Oot was the outlier, not botw lol.

  • @LUVIIKUU

    @LUVIIKUU

    5 ай бұрын

    @@daniel8181 I mean, I totally didn't misread you. You said, "Zelda never became its own antithesis, and *_its_* fans aren't toxic and hateful towards RE7 fans." As a side note, older RE fans actually can be very toxic toward RE7 fans. That's pretty rampant on the RE subreddit, unfortunately. Personally, I've been called some very vulgar things for calling RE7 a real RE game. As for level design, by "tight" I don't mean linear. "Tight" level design refers to the structure of the level design, and the intended way the player is meant to progress through its challenges. Which may not always be in a set order, but solutions to problems are preconceived. When it comes to Zelda, people typically are talking about its dungeons when they call its level design "tight". Historically, Zelda dungeons have been the highlight of the games, and overworld exploration was primarily about getting to those dungeons. And when you did, you were faced with a gauntlet of puzzles with fixed solutions; meant to be tackled in a specific way. On the other hand, BotW and TotK focus more on the overworld itself, and the freedom to explore it in your own way. The dungeons also share this same design philosophy, with free-form physics puzzles. They're presented more like fun obstacle courses than labyrinths filled with tightly designed puzzles. But ultimately, I agree with you that BotW is based on Zelda 1. That's why I called it a return to form in the video.
