I have the aus Jena DDR with the minimum focus distance 0,18m and it is a fantastic and real macro lens that I cherish and use on my Contax D and on my Canon 6d with amazing results. Thanks for your review

Thanks very much for the review. You appear to have version 2 of this lens. It focuses between 0.36 (1.2ft) and 10m (30ft). It has 9 aperture blades. I have version 1.2 which focuses between 0.35 (1.15ft) and 10m (33ft) - that’s how it’s marked on the lens. My lens also has 9 aperture blades. Another strange marking is the vanity ring. My version says Jena F 1:2.8 f = 35 Nr. 4425011 and it’s in Exacta mount. I also own the modern 35mm f2.4 version. It’s a completely different animal. 😊

Small note: Nearest focusing is 36 centimeters, like slightly closer than 1.2 feet. 36 milimeters would be 1/10th of that, like 1.4 inch.

Interested in this lens. Thanks for your review. Do you think it will be a good match to the zeiss biotar 58mm f2?

Thanks for your review, I have a silver 2.8 as well - Tell me, do I start from the front or from the back to reach the helicoid to re-lube? No screws are showing anywhere... So should go front the front removing the nameplate etc, or from the back, there are 2 marks for inserting a calliper but... The aperture ring is turning fine, focusing is stiff.

Where do you get those from? Obviously yard sales are kinda complicated right now, but are there thrift stores in Germany or something similar?

Thanks, Doertepn for sharing your very detailed review of this lens. Just wondering how the Zeiss Flektogon 35mm f2.8 can pair with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Thank you Very much for your Nice comment. The bmcc 4k should be a mff mount camera. So adapting should be no Problem. The 2xcrop means, that it Just uses the Center Part of the Image. So If you are Happy with the Center, buy IT...

Hi, thanks for the video. I got one but mine says "Carl Zeiss Jena" - same focal length, aperture, and color. But I noticed your just says "Jena". Do you know why the difference? I understand after the fall of the Berlin Wall there was some changes. Just not sure.

This is before the Fall of the Berlin Wall. There were 2 Zeiss companies. One in the east one in the West.

I had f2.8 version from 1959 until I got 35 f2.4 MC which is much better version (contrast, sharpness and close focus ) of the classic. Unfortunately f2.4 version is highly sought lens and so is the priced accordingly.

The video you have the comments turned off on the like a 50 versus the like a 50. Why is it constantly dinging? You can't watch the video because of the audio dings in the background. I thought it was a warning chime on my car driving. Well it looks like could be a good video you can't pay attention to because of the constant dings. Try to take it down and redo it. I bet it would be a hit
