recently moved to gold coast from china. to be honest, Australia is not the perfect place for EVs. I have a tesla M3P in China and a Model Y here in Australia. Back in China, I can drive from east China to Tibet in my Model 3 P with no problem of charging. There are just more than enough charging station all across the country. In my city (hangzhou if anyone know where it is) alone, there are more than 300 charging stations. But here in Gold Coast, there are only 2 tesla superschage, and 5 or 6 charge fox stations. Believe me, I love Australia, it is a great country in many many ways! But I hope there can be more charging stations. Now I won't even consider driving to Sydeny or up Queensland with an EV. As for zeeker, I know this brand because its headquarter is located 500 meters from my old apartment in China. I have 3 neighbors who have 009. According to them, it has one of the best second row seats, but it is not a fun car to drive. In additon, zeekr is still working on its L2. Maybe we can see a 009 with a lidar late this year. sorry about the grammar.

Our neighbour had been talking about buying an EV for quite a while as he planned to do most of his charging at home off peak just off a normal power point. I suggested getting an electrician to check the house wiring first as our houses were built in 1980. He didn’t do that nor did any research but went ahead anyway with the purchase of an ATTO 3. Big problem straight away, circuit breakers kept popping and they can’t use anything electric (jug, toaster, etc) in the house if the car is on charge. An electrician came and to set the house up was going to cost $12000 plus extra for some kind of a “box” (no idea what it is). I can drive my 15 year old Corolla for 12 years on that… So the ATTO 3 turned out not to be the cost saver he thought. Felt sorry for him and got my neices boyfriend (electrician) to do a quote and he did the job for $9500.

  • @ChrisEVcars

I think you are full it. The Atto 3 uses as much power as a toaster or a hairdryer to charge. $9500 for a power point you have got to be dreaming.

Hi Sam. So disappointed that Zeekr are not concentrating on a vehicle as an alternative to the Tesla Model Y. In my opinion, sedans are not really wanted and as for the Zeekr 009 I wouldn't want something as ugly as that. I think the same about the BYD Seal. Beautiful car and highly impressive especially at the price point but again, it's a darned sedan. The most popular EV worldwide is the Tesla MY and the reason is, it's the perfect size and format for the majority of drivers. Come on Zeekr, bring on a mid sized SUV that is affordable to more people and you may have a customer in me.

700km CLTC, the model Y long range also has a 688km CLTC range that equals 498km EPA, so that 700km equals 507km EPA - from a 140kwh battery - that's 3.6km per kwh 2.2miles per kwh EPA let alone real world. That is terrible efficiency. To put that into perspective the Model Y LR has 9km less EPA with a battery a little over 1/2 the size.

AS European i feel sad that volvo MG LOTUS and others are sold to Chinease companies... well reason there are cheaper chinease cars in australia is that you do not have local car brands to be protected from cheap china products

yeah true Mr Yamaha ! : ) Australia closed its last car factories a few years ago (Toyota, Holden/GM, Ford). But I also wonder if it might come back with costs and tech of EVs getting so accessible. EV transport is strategically important here, its becoming more obvious. 3% to 7% last 12 months is still slow, but good growth. China has the manufacturing for now but AUS has the innovators and resources.

To that point, I used to work in the Australia Auto industry back in the day when Ford/Holdens(GM) were manuf in Australia - it was simply not sustainable to the point where $4 to 5000 of the cost of a Ford/Hold (GM) was subsidized by the Australian Tax Payer for a $20K car. An that is the whole point of open Global economy, each do what they are best at (although it does become a problem if any country is not good/efficient at anything!)

If it hadn't been bought by a Chinese automotive company, do you think MG Lotus Volvo would still be around and thriving now?😂

Just look at the stats on rubbish EV cars and their faults. Chinese brands fair worst. Tesla made the top 3 vehicles for reliability.
