Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on KZread, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on KZread. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on KZread, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

The film Metropolis made in 1927 (before the talkies) is 97 years old. It is amazing what they filmed for this stunning depiction of the future.

I watch the movie once a year because it was so ahead of its time and so creative, I try and imagine what digital technology could have done to make it better but I come up with zero.
Shawn coming to your channel everyday has made my retirement more enjoyable and for me it really doesn’t matter how many times you play any tune I just love oldies and this song was a great song back then and still is great today. Thank you.

Well Said! ✌
The song haunted me then and now. Love both versions. It is the message that is so haunting.

This was a 1-hit wonder, but Zager took his earnings and became a luthier (guitar maker). His company makes fantastic acoustic and acoustic/electric guitars, and he does online instruction as well. He retired a few months ago, but the company is still solid and now run by his son.
This song really creeped me out when I was a kid.
This is a good song, again from the 60’s, great era for music!👏👏👏💙
I think that what is so scary about this song, is a lot of what he is singing about is already happening. And this came out in 1969. (I think )

This song. With me all my 54 years on the planet it seems ❤

At 67 I couldn't of agreed more! Peace from Northern Michigan!
Good tune, good ramble, I thought the same in 1969 when it was on the radio and I was young. Now I'm old and things are worse.
Back in the 70's when I was a teenager this song came out on the radio and all my friends and boyfriend I was the only one who liked this song ! I still like this song. Thanks for sharing 😊
You must watch Metropolis from 1927 that's the visuals they used for this video, its a silent movie but it was way ahead of its time which makes it so incredible.
Hey!! Don’t apologize!! We enjoy your “rambling “, love that you take the time to talk about the songs and dive into them!! That’s what makes for a good reactor !!
Zager and Evans were from Lincoln, NE and I remember listening/watching as this hit went from local, to regional, to national.
The video with 2525 blasting away was so much fun. I remember when they asked the oldest man in the world just before he died (he was something like 112 or something, and he said there's an entire planet of people on earth that have been replaced when I die. What could it feel like to e the last person alive with a world of all new people. Crazy just thinking of it.
Amen Shawn. Yeah you will enjoy this. Thanks.
I was a young 13-year-old when this song came out in the summer of 1969. It was a very different song than anything most of us had heard or were listening to on the radio. In a way, it made many of us, both young and old, take stock in what we were doing to ourselves, and God was the only answer, not flawed man. Man causes the problems, but almost never is able to fix them. Only God Almighty can, if we humble ourselves to Him. Thanks Brother

I Was 14, And I Agree with you100%.
"Maybe it's only yesterday" -- maybe this happens over and over, over tens of thousands of years. Chilling.
Oh man, how thought-provoking the lyrics are here. How anyone cannot connect to this in some way is beyond me... especially given the circumstances & societal upheaval today. Good one Shawn, & thanks for doing the video version. The inserted clips of "Metropolis" really sets the message. Although I'm not a believer of the "caveman theories" I agree with humanities warring tendencies. When will it eventually be over?
Agree with your assessment and beliefs you stated, Shawn! And agree with your love of the song, too! I think it’s an amazingly thoughtful song, especially for its time. I was early in my jr high school years when this came out and absolutely loved it then and still do. “One day God will shake His mighty head” … Love your reactions, Shawn!
Classic Shawn. Well dun and Thank You brother ☘️🇺🇲

Great Song 🎵 You are so awesome Shawn and we all love ❤️ your honest reactions. Never change .👍✊❤️
Shawn did you notice in the lyrics they go from 6565 to 7510 & 8510 then back to 9595 just a FYI.
I remember this song when it was originally released. I always thought it was sung by Three Dog Night, or perhaps by Chicago. The message of the tune stuck with me back then as well. I often feel that humanity/society is slowly swirling down the drain. It appears the power of the internet is methodically dumbing down the masses. It's truly depressing that some people are willing to believe the craziest rumors. As many have noted, the movie Metropolis is a thought-provoking film that lends itself very well to this song. It is a German silent feature that depicts a futuristic society where the workers are slaves to the machines and the people are controlled by the wealthy owner of the factory. The actress shown in this video does an outstanding job portraying a human robot. The transition she makes and the facial expressions she creates put a chill down my spine the first time I watched it. I strongly recommend watching this film whenever you find the time.
Mr. Zager still produces some of the best guitars made in America. I recommend his guitar to anyone but especially to older players as it is endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation for his novel innovations on guitar construction. A man of many talents.

AGREE! Check out that new limited 12 string 900 Pro!
They did this a couple years earlier, but it didn't take off until 1969 - and was their one and only hit - and it went to NUMBER ONE in both the US and UK! They got close with MR. TURNKEY which went to #48 in Canada. Denny Zager has been making some very nice custom guitars since 1969 - and I got me a nice 'un.
Now you need to watch the movie "Metropolis" while sitting the dark and munching on popcorn. It is one of the best silent films and is shown in cinematic classes for wanna be film makers. The song and the movie video are a perfect match.
this song was way ahead of time at the end of this video you can see the introduction of A.I. !
This was one of the first singles I bought, along with Jimi Hendrix and the Israelites by Desmond Dekker.
The movie Metropolis came out 97 years ago. Doubt you need to worry about copyright issues.
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😎scared me as a kid!
The film Metropolis is a fascinating 🤔 take done back in the day. Always found this tune very interesting...👍🎤
Love your insight on things.
Speaking of “rambling “ check out the song: “RAMBLING MAN “ by The Allman Brothers Band!!
A true one hit wounder group but man what a song.
❤ ✌😊
That movie is in public domain, probably.
Potential reality...
The only solution in my mind to the turmoil is collaboration on a global scale, and even an end to borders. One social democracy. Not socialism, (as it is in the world).
Another visual video made from a classic older song is one on KZread by - Black Sabbath - War Pigs. The added video also increases the effects and words of the 1970 song. The visuals is a short video called - Motherland / Kurzfilm (2009). A creator added that footage to the song - "War Pigs" and it fits well. WORTH A WATCH. Video on KZread with the footage added has 102 mil views added 9-yrs ago under the title - War Pigs ~ Black Sabbath. kzread.info/dash/bejne/foWJuteKZr3Kado.html The original film it uses - Motherland / Kurzfilm (2009) a German made short University made I think one is clearly the one used. kzread.info/dash/bejne/n6Sfmdqgc7vTf7w.html
I always had a love-hate relationship with this song. It's got a cool groove to it, but the lyrics always seemed a little silly. Besides, I doubt at this point we'll see 2525. Metropolis is a brilliant movie, by the way. Amazing that a 20s silent film could be so prescient.

Zager & Evans were an American rock-pop duo active during the late 60's-70's. This futuristic song "In The Year 2525" was their biggest hit in 1969 so they are often classified as a one-hit wonder.
