just based on the acting and world building we've seen tho, there is no version of this movie in any universe that is good though. At least with the justice league there were bits and pieces that weren't terrible/terribly acted, but rebel moon just has zero redeeming qualities.

There are a lot of movies taking inspiration from Akira Kurosawa. The Magnificent 7 for example. Hell, there even was a Star Wars the Clone Wars episode with a similar theme of protecting a village. And what do they all have in common? Being better than Rebel Moon lol

Gotta appreciate that no matter how far in the future a story is set, the only tragic backstory women are allowed to have is being sexually assaulted and their struggle being sexual harassment.

The beginning where they force them to make a certain amount of grain before they come back is LITERALLY the EXACT same plot as a bugs life. 😂😂😂😂

Instead of aliens too and everyone is just a different type of bug. So yeah, I know the plot itself has been done to death. But still a funny imagination. 😁

@@luismakeup08 he did. At least a lot of the parallel world building. The plot however was him trying to mix Kurosawa and Campbell (hero’s journey). And you could def argue that the overall arching plot of the fallen chosen one and the “redemptive” children (for the first 6) was def lifted from Dune to Children of Dune.

“This movie is just a bunch of cool stuff but is not cohesive at all”. This is my opinion on pretty much every Snyder movie.

What's more, it's just stupid as hell in this context. They sent a massive ship of the fleet and expended literal tons of resources to demand unrealistic expectations of a tiny farming commune, with minimal information in regards to the status of the demanded resources. They wasted more in waving their schlongs around than they ever could have gotten from that village, and that's if everything had gone according to their plans with no resistance whatsoever. If that's standard procedure for them, their empire would be doomed to crumble from the start. They absolutely suck at racketeering, counter-insurgency, and logistics in general.

Remember everyone, Disney said no to this. DISNEY STAR WARS SAID NO TO THIS. Kathleen Kennedy said yes to all those shows and movies, but no to Snyder. Thats how bad it is

The issue, especially with Part One, is like there are these indvidual vignettes of these "heroes" that are being recruited. And outside of those moments, we never see the "team" team. No bonding occurs between these characters.

How bad do you have to be that you get two movies to tell a story and yet recruiting the main characters is just random scenes put together for the most part and them having to sit at a roundtable and tell each other their backstories in two minutes?

Snyder makes a movie: "That wasn't my vision... I'll release a 17-hour 2 part cut, and people will keep giving me jobs"...

I'm just going to headcanon that those tapestries were initially intended as memorials and the villagers were all really surprised when they came back alive.

It's great when virtually none of the supporting characters have any motive to join the main protag, but they're ride-or-die after a minute of dialogue. Who needs character development, or even a sense of camaraderie, when you can just keep jumping from one spectacle to the next?

My friend and I made the mistake of watching these movies back to back while high and we wanted to fucking die. Worst movie experience ever

Long winded story with diverse characters that unquestionably join the main character on a journey to topple the government? This is just space One Piece.

Are we gonna talk about how it copies Warhammer almost to a T? The Imperium, the noble elites, BELISARIUS?? So many other direct copy, paste elements

One little tidbit that I personally found hilarious in the second movie (my mom conned me into it because she loves shitty movies) was that the entire showdown on Veldt, the walkers are pretty much never used until the very last minute, and they have an incredibly small screen time, so much so that it was hard to even find a screenshot of one. Turns out, if you get a solid look at it, it looks damn near identical to the Fallen Walker of Destiny fame with a perhaps Metal Gear skin lazily plastered over it. Man i was floored, that made me laugh so damn hard.

The King’s Gays: “Do it, KILL Herrrrr..”

Half of the stuff in these movies are ripped straight from 40K Warhammer. Zach didn't even try.

This movie isn't even adapted from a game but it feels like a movie about a video game where all of the stuff you're supposed to leave behind in the game for the sake of a movie script not actually being a game, was left in by a maniac.

Fun fact, “goon-are” is how Gunnar is pronounced in modern day Scandinavia, where the name comes from and is typically used.

Not really. The "U" sound is indeed kind of like an "O" but not drawn out like double-o. It's short, like "Gun", but with the kind-of-O-sound.

I actually did the math. That village would have have plenty of food. Enough to feed 400 people for a year. Also, the conflict makes no sense because the empire can make worm holes. That technology allows them to always be 1 stop away from their home planet. They didn't need the wheat and the amount of wheat they asked for was probably not enough for a ship that size. The story made no sense.

The whole time I was watching Rebel Moon, I was trying to figure out if the main actress was a bad actress or not and that’s a huge failure on Zac Snyder as a director because I’ve seen that actress in other things and she wasn’t bad at acting at all

I have to say, its much more enjoyable watching your videos than watching the actual terrible movies you talk about. Now I know what these trashpile pictures are all about without actualy watching them. Love it.

Honestly the whole "wanders around recruiting people to take on the big bad" could have worked a LOT better as a series. Each episode explores the origin and recruitment of one of the nifty sidekicks, so you can become attached to them and care that they're on the team, with some big conflict/cliffhanger at the end of the season which sets up the season 2 fight with the big bad. Super easy, barely an inconvenience

It’s also super telling that it’s in every one of Snyder films outside of the DCU and the Owl movie. I’m sure he would have put implied or even explicit sexual assault in the DCU if Warner Bros didn’t axe the idea.

Honestly when I watched it I couldn't help but think it was the deformed child of Star wars and Warhammer 40k It was just a bit too close, like the enemy kingdom using Latin based names similar to 40k with the Astra Militarum

Like, sometimes minorities exist with no alterior motives. Shocker. And even if such motivations exist, so what? Does seeing a gay person threaten your livelihood? The end result is typically something completely benign, so there's literally no problem. Like, I could throw a marshmallow at you with the intent to kill, but the worst I could achieve is mild annoyance. So many real evils committed in the world - a gay person being put on the screen is not one of them.

Scavengers Reign got a shoutout, never heard of this KZreadr before this vid but thats a way to instantly know he has serious taste.

Candle boy looks like a dark souls character. Only redeeming feature.

@@bloodyneptune Dune is not a Space Opera. The original Dune novel (Dune Part 1 and 2) is fundamentally about ecology, and the politics of ecology. Later novels shifted themes pretty dramatically, but that first novel is heavily science-themed. It was even based on a non-fiction article Herbert started writing about the use of special grasses to stop the spread of deserts.
