Zack Snyder Is Coming Back To Animation....

Фильм және анимация

In an interesting spin of Netfli news, Zack Snyder is on the bill after his run of his Star Wars project Rebel Moon.... and now he's making a new animated series! Now I'm not a particular Zack Snyder fanboy, but I have seen a surprising amount of his movies. And was even invited to the London IMAX premiere of Rebel Moon so I've got a bit of a soft spot for them. But with a history of only one animated project - that being Legend of the Guardians The Owls of Ga'hool, it's very interesting to imagine where things will go next. The new project is known as Twilight of the Gods, and will be a 2D animated series. With a rocky history of success, but a lot of ambition behind it, it leaves one to wonder on this animated announced... how on earth will this turn out? Well, come learn the production details with me as we hop on the news that Zack Snyder Is Coming Back To Animation...

I'd rather have a sequel to Ga'Hoole, I know there's more books in the series, so there's more story to tell. And I just love the animation, they all look like real owl species without falling into that weird uncanny valley that Disney does with their cgi animals.

@@adrakenotadragon In order to get my foot in the door I accepted the position as a previs/layout artist. That took me over to New Zealand, sadly looking back it was an awful job. Bad pay and a bad environment. But it got me that first job on the resume, taught me valuable pipeline knowledge of the industry, and got me blocking my shots faster. Sure it wasn’t animation but I still had to make the characters appealing to the camera. Then finally I met a woman who gave me an offer at a mid sized company. She said I’ll hire you as a layout artist, prove your hard work and animation skills through that and we shall try and get you on our next animation project. And boom, I was in animation after a year and half! So when I was hired as an animator all I had was layout and previs experience on my resume. I think having experience in any field in the industry can give you some leverage. Keep at it!! Knock on some doors, get networking. Honestly networking I think is vital. Actually, I remember the Owls of Ga'Hoole very fondly. It was an important part of my childhood. I'm neurodivergent, and when I read the book series for the first time, I became hooked. I read all 14 books within the span of a single school year and owls became a special interest of mine. We were pretty darn poor growing up, so when one day I came home from school for my parents to surprise me with my very own DVD copy of Legends of the Guardians, that was probably the happiest moment in the last 8 or so years (I'm not kidding. Being 12 was the last time I was truly happy) But I'd watch it every night before I went to bed. And to this day I still have that original DVD copy, which somehow still works, in my collection. It still has a huge spot in my heart, and to this day owls, specifically barn owls, are my favourite animal.

I was 25 when the Owls of Ga'hoole was in the cinema, when I was fresh out of the Navy, and I am really glad I saw this on the big screen. The animation is perhaps one of the most stunning ever depicted, and given this was released in 2010, makes it one of the most impressive. To me at least, the Owls of Ga'hoole is still the best balance between photorealism and character expressions, unfortunately, major studios have not been able to replicate this standard, as the photorealism has effectively become more of a tech demo, rather than improved storytelling. Nevertheless, the Owls of Ga'hoole is one of the most beautiful animated features I know, I really love the scene when Soren, our main Barn Owl character flies into a storm, you could see every drop of water, the technique of Soren's flying, and the expression on his face as he masters flight, this is how you write a good story, although the animation is absolutely stellar, it serves to tell the story, a lesson lost on many major studios today, instead of being forgotten, the Owls of Ga'hoole should serve as tool for both animators and writers.

Legend of the Guardians was my first Snyder film. I was twelve and genuinely had no idea who the man was, and it didn’t matter to me. My favorite book series at the time was getting a movie, and I wanted to make sure everyone knew about it (whether they wanted to or not). Genuinely was obsessed with it. Once I had it on dvd I showed it to anyone that I could get to sit down in front of a screen with me. I watched the trailers over and over, then watched poorly edited amvs of it over and over. This movie absolutely consumed my life for over a year. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized practically no one else had seen it or heard of it. I’m a lot more willing to accept its flaws now, but I still enjoy it if just for the animation and soundtrack, and I hold out hope that it’s going to go on to be an animation cult classic one day, like Watership Down with owls. If you haven’t seen it, I’d recommend it if just for the experience. And it’d make middle school me happy.

I'm so glad that Ga'Hoole is getting the "underrated classic" treatment. I've been seeing a lot of people post about it lately (probably because of the news about Zach Snyder, but maybe for other reasons too?). I remember watching it when it came out and literally sobbing during the scene where Soren is flying in the rain. I was 11 years old and obsessed with animation, and at the time it was the most stunning CGI I had ever watched in a fully animated movie. And it STILL looks amazing even 14 years later! I think people are now starting to realize how impressive that is. I'm very excited to watch any future films like it. We've had some big hits like Spiderverse, Arcane, The Last Wish, and Way of Water but otherwise animation has kinda been lacking stylistically. I'd love to see a CGI film that looks totally different. I've seen some episodes of Love, Death, and Robots with really impressive realistic or stylized-realistic CGI and all I can think when watching is "Man, why don't we have any big budget films that look like this? People need to experiment more and push the boundaries of how animated films can look". Also, all that said about CGI, I'm also a HUGE 2D fan! So I'm actually really excited that this series is 2D!

the reason gahoole is not the best movie, was well.. you cannot put a full lore story from the book series in a 2 hr movie. However, this movie was amazing and I remember how much I wanted to see it. The teaser for Gahoole was made very well too, so it did sold.. and the author was even an executive producer. This is one the movies I would watch again for its amazing visuals!

I have such a soft spot for Guardians of Ga'Hoole. It was the first movie I ever saw that made me cry (Grimble's death was HARROWING for little me) and the local libraries have only ever had the first book which I've read multiple times over. I became obsessed with birds as a result and my first job was at a bird store for that reason. Whatever comes next from Zack Snyder, I have faith in it and I truly hope it becomes some young kid's own Guadians of Ga'Hoole experience.

It would of been a good idea of a couple of movies to do with legend of the guardians, one of them being a prequel to do with rise of kheel fighting against the evil owl leader metal beak while the other film would be a sequal to the first one with the search of finding cludd and nyra since they would have some sort of evil plot still that soren yet again would have to deal with alongside his friends

Owls of Ga'hoole was one of my favorite movies as a kid because it didn't belittle my intelligence or ability to understand darker and complex themes. Then i grew up, googled it again to see if it was free anywhere and learned it was directed by Zack Snyder, which made just about everything about it make sense

Owls of Ga'Hoole is still my favorite movie to this day! I watched it when I was 5 and have always said it was my favorite for years! Now as an adult I always remember this movie and would watch it so many times if I could! I've watched it so much that I can memorize a lot of the lines out of instinct. I really do want a sequel to the movie but we can only wish!

I remember watching this movie on a dvd. Note that dvd package had a owl mask that you cold bild and enjoy it was pretty cool not gonna lie.. Any way I remember The movie/ my country's dub of it it was fun and epic and i did enjoy it. and I have watched it recently too plus i checked a video detailing what happened in the creative process of the movie and what parts made it from the books an what parts were too dark and got cut . So i suggest watching that video. I am a fan of the movie because that's what I watched first. But i heard the books are good too and each book is different vibe then the previous one. ( Note the movie was made from 3 different books combined)

Frankly, Ga'Hoole was a very fond memory of mine. Especially my love of Owl City who had made the song To The Sky that plays in it. I never knew Ga'Hoole was made by Snyder, just I enjoyed it and never saw Guardians until a couple of years ago (Which I also enjoy, but enjoy Ga'Hoole more)

You gave me a heart attack thinking that Zach Snyder was going to yet again soil the Guardians of Ga'Hoole! It is one of my favorite children's book series and he did not do it justice. He completely mauled any nuance in the plot, just added unnecessary characters willynilly and tried to stuff three full plot arcs into one short story. If you're not going to respect the source, at least have the decency to take the How to Train Your Dragon route and make a whole new story inspired by the books that can fit into a movie time slot.

There was a time when Gahoole was on netflix and I can say, I watched it at last 10 times in a week, I love that movie, one that my parents used to put me as a child so I would stay in one place while they either rested or did some house cleanning, and as I didn't really process anything from movies, just watch them, they though it was ok to put me a movie of talking owls with their own society and big dangerous cult with a war and fighting and death......... but I can't complain, not after I found that the movie is full on youtube in latin spanish! Just a bit more and I'll memorise the entire dialogues

Even a prequel to do with the legendary hero kheel which would of been interesting to see him younger also a sequal would of been a good idea too since nyra and cludd are still out there plotting something so soren once again would have to fight them which would probably mean cludd would end up as king because of nyra so soren would be forced to fight his brother head on

Interesting to hear of another Norse mythology cartoon in the making. Certainly hope its better than the one thats being released right now. For context, as of recently another Norse mythology cartoon has been released called "HØJ", made in Denmark. This follows a dwarf elf hybrid boy as he goes on a quest to retrieve a magical artifact and find his supposed dead mother in a Post Ragnarok norse world where the Gods are no longer around. That series has been ambitious but probably biting off more than it could chew and fumbling some elements like pacing and characters, at least in my opinion. But its a miracle it even came out, the studio that made it, Copenhagen Bombay productions, has gone bankrupt last year.
