acousticability I put a K&N drop in filter in my car around 5 days ago I checked it today and I had to clean out the inside of my air box with wet wipes. I put the K&N drop in filter in the trunk of my car and put an Afe dry flow performance drop in filter in the air box if that does well then cool. I’d like to put a short ram intake on my 2004 Mercury Sable LS sedan 24 Valve DOHC V6 but I can not find one anywhere. How is your Z31 coming along?

so is it really loud and deep on the inside? I want my car to have a deep rumble but still be driveable and be able to bump music

It has a deep rumble at low rpm and a higher tone after 4k on my car... now I dont have ne real sound mats in my car so in other cars it prob isnt that bad of a drone but if u have alot of bass in ur music that carries it may cause some distortion... Over all ive had it now for a bit and it really has grown on me. I dont do a lot of music in my car but im sayin with some sound matting or heat wrapping the body of the muffler it would keep the drone on the outside of the car and let u do ur thing on the inside...

I thinking of using this muffler on my D21 hardbody. It's got the throttle body injected VG30. Did you remove the cat from your Z31 or is it still in place. I noticed a raspy note that I don't know think I want from my truck

I have a catch can cat so its more of an expansion pipe without nething in it... it has pacesetter unequal length headers 2 1/4" collector to the catch, goes to 2 1/2 over axle to the muffler.... no air injection, egr, etc... Wish I would have done a two in two out closer to the headers but its kinda nice where it is, if u look at some of the other vids I had with like the sound fx muffler my set up kinda always made a rasp sound at 4k when it starts to open up, a good one to see for this sound is the "300zx rally run" and that had equal length headers and 2 1/2" hole way back... lower end throttle response was a little less with that exhaust... What do u run our ue vg? Thanx for hittin me up and hope to hear from u again!

Thanx! I have pacesetter unequal length headers, i used to have equal but it was a pain in the ass to change oil and work on the tran. They have a 2 1/4" collector that goes to a cat size expansion pipe that is 3x5" inlet is 2 1/4" outlet is 3" over axle to a 40 series v flowmaster there are no flex points so its not friendly for normal driving and i have a no emissions at all eve o2s... The eccm is completely remapped for it and i have to re do it every winter and summer... Thats epic to hear ur lookin for my sound and hope u keep me posted!

Whats a good deep sounds muffler for a 2015 Toyota Corolla. i have an Aem dry flow high performance air filter Vibrant performance resonator 12 inches in length and a Cherrybomb Glasspack 18 inch body 23 inches overall with a Vibrant performance exhaust tip. I have a Totalflow 2 chamber muffler which is a direct copy of the flowmaster 40 series muffler so it will sound exactly the same as a flowmaster 40 series muffler also have another Vibrant performance exhaust tip coming in the mail. Looking for a decent muffler setup for my z32. Any suggestions? My 3rd z ive owned. 2nd z32 (first while living in okinawa at kadena ab) had z31 with some z32 accents (wheels, seats shifter, aftermarket projectors) any ideas would be appreciated

For a true duel like a z32 id have to say i would go with the ark grip when it comes to sound, cost wise i would just fab something similar to it lol... But if u have a non turbo i really love the sound i have with the flowmaster 40 series x2, headers and a catch cat... (I would prob put a 'h' pipe in to equal out pressure) But all out ears are different lol, also my z31 is a single out but the only thing that would hinder in this set up is the fact that shooting flames and back fires done work as well lol since its a welded hollow muff set up... Hope this helps a lil...

Flowmaster 40 is a good muffler, I had one on another car that was a 3.0 V6 (Ford Escape) and it sounded great, but decided to go all out 3" MSA for the Z31 and couldn't be happier. ya... i remember that vid lol... i posted in ur discussion section i think... cause u dont have comments enabled lol... that has a good verrrr sound and nice deep tone.... more so then other straight through muffs

Ah man it didn't even notify me or anything. Thanks, that was years ago and its still about the same, though with a 3-inch Thunderbolt Catalytic Converter which actually didn't really change the sound. Its a bit of a pain with all the vacuum hoses removed except brake booster. Idle controllers gone, all that. (idle adjusted with set screw, currently idles around 1100rpm, was about 700 in that vid) One thing I would recommend is the newer early 90s ignition module some vehicles came with. Makes everything slightly smoother and more responsive. Not a huge impact but nearly free from most junkyards. Just did it last week. Only gotta swap 2 wires around, plugs right in.

Ya man I wanted to get aggressive with the cam but with how my old headers were and made it only fun after like 4.5k and sluggish as all hell below 3.5 im like naaaa... ill stay where im at... and ya I got idle at like 1.1k keeps it nice and smooth.. but I still have all my vac on the intake atleast til I go na/t not sure on that either... I know I want to go rear mount though...

I hear that, NA-T would be fun. Was planning on that (why I got the 3inch) but just too much trouble hunting down pieces on forums and stuff. Then my exhaust manifolds had to be cut off so I just got headers. And just so you know, mine is like that too, nothing at all under 3k. Got it dynod a while back, at 3k it puts out something like 95whp iirc. But at 4k it has jumped to around 150whp (and near 185whp @ 6k). So its not just you or your cams. Its also quite dangerous in rain haha, all the turbo lag, none of the whoosh noises.

Look into Carven R for good straight through design. Or Vibrant muffler for chambered.

I was thinking of truing the 40 on the lexus 2IS for a way to bring out a higher pitch to the exhaust note

To some ppl... Ur right... Im not thrilled with the way it is with open header so the sound wouldnt be much better to my ears. If u never had the chance to hear it hit up my exhaust section and u can judge for yourself. Thanx for hittin me up and hope to hear from ya again

It would be really raspy on a n/a. It would be ok on a turbo.
