In 2015, the judges were more willing to give him the right PCS, but in 2020, when he has gotten even better they lowered his PCS.

I agree with your sentiment completely but there are a couple of factors to take into consideration with the PCS. This is Yuzu's FOURTH time using this program so it might not be that unconceivable for the judges to judge the program more harshly despite the improvements that he made. Also 2015 was a different time, back then it was considered an incredible feat to be able to jump 4S and 4T, but now 4Lz and 4F are considered as the norm for male skaters, and like it or not the difficulty of the jump does affect the PCS a little.. Which means that for Yuzu to get the same PCS as 5 years ago, he will literally have to include the more difficult quads while maintaining the same overall quality and flow of the program. Again not saying this is fair to Yuzu or anything like that, I am honestly not a big fan of how quad obsessed this sport has become, but for Yuzu there really is no other choice but to adapt to the rules... I just hope he will be able to stay healthy and get that 4A (just please don't get injured...🙏)

@@microsickful 4F is definitely not the norm but I generally agree with what you are saying, especially about this being the 4th time using this program. I think the judges in a not-so-subtle way have been telling him to come up with something fresh, even though imo this short is a masterpiece that I will watch over and over again.. Esp vs Chen's """hip""" free skate last season, and repeating his okay programs from the year before was a big mistake and the judges hammered him all season for it. I don't know how much the lack of quad variation matters in the short tbh, very few skaters have more than 2 quads in the first place.

ikr.... totally disgusting/.... it is clear with this comparison.. there is noway Yuzuru regresses over years, he is getting better and smoother and beyond comprehension, yet the judges refuse to believe.

@@microsickful people reuse programs all the time, PCS shouldn’t have anything to do with that. PCS are : SS, CO, IN & TR, nothing of the jumps should be in that. Judges & the TP panel should apply the rules or else we can implement AI that can help if they can’t just like gymnastic did. Jumps should be scored accordingly, there are BV’s & GOEs for a reason.

You invest five years to refine your skating, polish the choreo and mature as a performer and... you end up with lower PCS than five years ago. Top motivation for a skater to aim for longevity and improvement. Independent from this: Thank you very much for uploading this SBS video!

In 2020 it shows how much he missed this program, appears to be much more intense and with a better flow. In 2020 he was back to himself again

In 4CC 2020 he had visibly better arm carriage, flow, effortlessness, and his edgework has gotten better as well. It simply does not compute how he could have obtained a lower PCS than five years prior.

Me being confused and feeling a bit cheated that yuzu got lower for a way better performance but realising the system only wants to see skaters jump like rabbits

With this I just realized his 2018 Chopin was slightly different in choreography! Interesting to know that it did change a bit throughout the years.

He looks the same. I cant be sure exactly in which one he is older. Both great. One is a bit more spontaneous and effortless. One is slightly more compact in steps of the intense part of music music.
