Ustad Yusuf Ali Khan - sitar
Tabla accompanist unknown
Ustad Yusuf Ali Khan (1887-1962) was a master sitarist as well as a renowned sitar maker of his time located in Lucknow. He was trained by his father Bhondu Khan and Ustad Abdul Ghani Khan of the now extinct Dhrupad Gharana of Kalpi. His sitar workshop was in the same house as legendary Ustad Sakhawat Hussain Khan´s family and they were close peers and exchanged many old compositions. He took over the sitar training of Ustad Sakhawat Khans younger son Ustad Ilyas Khan.

We students of the gharana have learned this gat from Ustad Irfan Khansahib and it is part of our repertoire. I am sure it has been notated several times. I hope you are referring to the audio quality here?!

@@lucknow-shahjahanpur-ghara7790 I assumed several compositions get lost with time. Didn't realise tradition preserved it, that's wonderful. But yes, I'd love to hear a student play this exact bandish in Darbari in better quality.
