This is the instrument Anoushka would have been relegated to in India's classical music scene. Her father taught her like he would have taught his son but it is on the international stage that she is seen mostly. She adapted traditional ragas to what she names anourag. No alap and slow raga exposition, she knows what listeners are really avid for is teental, the quick movement. Her father has known and endured through a clannish grand master school. Some families had exclusive rights of teaching certain instruments like the bin dating back centuries to rajah decree.

Lots of her father's influence here; sounds a lot like Bangla Dhun, but in a very good sense. You just can't beat a good sitar tune. Felt like I was back in college with acid on board. Excellent!
Ahh!!! The Sitar along with the coherence of tabla takes me back to those very old days... where me and my mother used to sit beside our Radio to hear the performance of Pt. Ravi Shankar and Ustad Alla Rakha ji !!! I want those days to rejuvenate back 😢 (Dated 30/01/22, 10:58 am)
I love the communication between Shankar and the tabla player.

I think the same thing. I also am very productive when listening to this music. I deep cleaned my entire house, and reorganized two large closets over the weekend to her father's album 'Improvisations'. Am able to do things I despise as long as this type of music is playing on my headphones. : )
Unbelievable, Fantastic 😍😍😍😍😍 Sitar is so amazing that it takes your soul around the universe in a marvelous journey .. Greetings to you from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 ♥️
Every time I watch this I cry, I don't know why. It's just so beautiful...

This music is like listening to a language I don’t understand but transports with an emotional language. The musicians speak to and argue with each other. Altogether a wonderful experience provided by very talented artists.

Exactly In musician terms it is actually like listening to a different language Cuz they use different Time signatures And scales And it makes it somewhat not understandable for most normal 4/4 and major minor people
Absolutely superb! masterful performance by Anoushka & beautifully ,rhythmically accompanied by excellent tabla!👍👍👍
In my early 20s I met Ravi S.. on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, 1968. It was during the Democratic convention, I don't know why he was in Chicago but I recognized him, I had two of his records. I asked him a question (my question was pretty dumb, but we Americans were smoking weed so we thought everyone was doing it)I ask him if he smoked ganga before he gave a concert. To the best of my memory, remember this was over 50 years ago, he answered that what his music was about took years of practice and dedication. This music opened up a different part of my mind. I am now 80, I don't need any drugs to get into this music. Funny now that weed is legal I haven't used any in 45 years.
I love this. Greetings from the U.S.A
She is a pleasure to watch and as good as her father whom I listened to at Musée Guimet in 1961 or62 and several times later!
Anushka is as great as her father. So melodious and soul satisfying. These people have truly descended from heaven.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Shabash! Truly sublime
Anoushka’s finger By Tapasi Saha Anoushka’s finger talks without vocal cord The divine melody she creates with her fingers unbelievably intoxicating Pierces our soul immediately Listening to her sitar takes us to a place Where no one else matters Anoushka’s fingers are sharper than Shark teeth The sharpness of her fingers only U can compare with Goddess Ma Kali’s Sword The delicate melody she creates with her fingers takes us above the cloud where we’re free like birds The divine melody she creates with her fingers Hypnotically super beautiful musical art
She's so gorgeous. And and amazing musician. Ravi must be proud.
