Film "Andaz" was a hit film. Naushad sahab chose Mukesh ji to sing all the songs for Dilipkumar. He didn't chose Rafisaab or Talat sahab. Even much later he again chose Mukesh ji in film Sathi to sing for Rajendra Kumar although Rafisaab's voice suited most for him. Shankar & Jaikishan sahab always allowed Rafisaab to sing for Rajendra kumar sahab .

Dharmendraji treated him as elder brother and said that although they were from different mother's womb it mattered little. Manoj ji and Amit ji always spoke high about Dilip sahab and spoke high about his great qualities. Satyajit sahab , Bimal Roy sahab were full of praise for the senior actor. Raj sahab and Dev sahab were his close friend. Amitabhji went a little far to say that Bollywood industry can be divided in two parts "before Dilip kumar " and "after Dilip kumar". Spreading of Communal feeling will not bring any benefit neither for the industry nor for the country.

We need to listen to the songs from baiju Bawra to know how the music was composed. Absolutely marvellous.

I think the best person and the final authority to choose a singer for a particular song is the music director. On many occasions a song was sung by a singer but for some reason the song was later given to another singer. We cannot decide who is right or wrong.

It reminds us about the film Sarfarosh. A man may be great in his profession but he may also be a bigot at the same time. Not at all surprising. Hindus have a large heart. The credit goes to them and not to Naushad.

There is very fine proverb in English : PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING. Well, keeping Suraiya unmarried for the life (her own mother's statement shows that), Mukesh not called for until very very late like in SAATHI, Kishor Kumar totally banned, even only song he sang was not allowed to be included in the film. Bhajan/Ghazals/Songs/Poetries - well that is all his professional requirements - you know very well the difference between professional (for the money) vs vocational (for pleasure).

It was Naushad who composed devotional songs like, ''Man Tadpat Hari Darshan ko aaj''....Please give proofs for your story

Nor was there anybody else who did ever spit such venom when the legendary Naushad was still alive so he could respond to such unfounded allegation!!

I had met Naushadji couple of times and found him soft spoken and humble without any conceitedness despite his great success in scoring innumerable hit songs with pleasing orchestration under his baton. He had great rapport with most playback singers to deliver quality rendition and lilt. He had thorough knowledge of Hindustani classical and folk music that listeners know from his creations.

Such nonsensical videos and their provocative titles should be stopped being published on KZread. There was no greater gentleman in the Hindi film industry than Naushadji. Every Music director had his favourite song writer and singers, nothing to do with their religion. Naushad for Dilip Kumar, SJ for Raj kapoor and SD Burman for Dev Anand was common. Sahir, Majrooh, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan and Kaifi Azmi all accompanied likes of Madan Mohan, SD Burman, Roshan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, religion did not come into it.

This absolute bullshit. Dev Anand Suraiya break up has nothing to do with Naushad, it was her mother who opposed there marriage. This was stated by Suraiya herself. Talat Mehmood was Naushad's lead singer prior to emergence of Rafi. After Rafi's success he ditched Talat for ever. Naushad was a hardcore perfectionist, as a result only the best singers could sing his tune.

It is impossible to sing for any other singers to film like “Baiju Bawra”accept instruction of singing the great RAFI SAHAB.

Why only Naushad, many lyricist like Majrooh Sultanpuri, Sahir even to this day Javed Akhtar are the same. Brilliant Hindi lyricists like Pradeep, Indeevar, Rajinder Krishna were systematically sidelined although they could not do so to Anand Bakshi. Then the ultimate of all was Dilip Kumar, who even acted as a Pakistani spy!

बरसात फिल्म की सफलता से लता दीदी और शंकर जयकिशन जी के बीच मन मुटावभी हुआ था ।शंकर जयकिशन जी का कहना था कि हमारे संगीत ने लता को बुलन्दियों पर पहुँचाया ।इससे चिढकर लता दीदी ने भी कहा कि वो मूरी ही आवाज थी जिसने बरसात को हिट किया ।इसी बात पर श॔कर साहब ने लता दीदी से किनारा कर लिया और एक नई गायिका शारदा को ले आये और कुछ गीत गवाये भी थे जिसमें एक गीत था तितली उड़ी उड़ के चली आकाश ।जबकि जयकिशन जी लता दीदी के पक्ष में थे।इसके बाद दोनों की दोस्ती में दरार आ गई ।कुछ समय बाद जयकिशन जी का स्वर्ग वासहो गया ।लता दीदी ने खुद एक इन्टरव्यु में माना था कि उनका सबसे पंसदीदा संगीतकार सज्जाद साहब थे ।दूसरे नम्बर पर खेम चन्द प्रकाश जी थे जिन्होंने फिल्म महल का संगीत दिया था ।टून टूनकी बाॅयग्राफी यू ट्यूब पर उपलब्ध है ।देख लो ।

Very informative. Although I doubt that the eco effect for 'Mughal-e-Azam' was produced and recorded in bathroom. I remember Naushad sahab disclosed it in one of his interviews on TV long ago. He had told that the eco was produced by the same voice recording played on many players with fractional difference in all and this created the eco the first time.

Any thing can be said to put down a person he/she is no more. He/she can not come back to defend. So it is not decent to to talk ill of a person whom we did not know personally. But we still do all the same because of our conditioning. Personally I think the Late Naushad Ali was one of the greatest music composer of the sub continent. He created lilting melodies which are time less.

Very nice among Indian musicians.

Great musician who gave jobs to multiple artists regardless of who they were because of their talent. Very unfortunate this series is clumsily trying to put a communal angle to his work. Rise above, people.

Naushad gave opportunity to Hemant Mukherjee , Mukesh, Manna Dey and Subir Sen to sing in the films. Also he in most of his songs used Lata Mughrskar. He was against Kishore Kumar as Kishore Kunar practically ruined Rafi in the Bombay film Industry. Rafi was very close to Naushad. Someone who composed the songs of Baiju Bawra cannot be a bigoted person.

He disliked Kishore because Kishore was an untrained singer and required a lot of hard work. Naushad wanted perfection in his songs which was only forthcoming from legends the like of Mukesh, Manna Dey, Lata and Rafi.

KK did not ruin anybody, he simply outshined others after a long delayed time during his tragedy about Madhubala's death. Yes he was untrained but great music directors did obtain wonderful results from him - read the story about MERE NAINA SAWAN BHADO sung by him after practicing Lata version for several days - that's real master!

Really Naushad was a great music director but Shankar Jaikishan was the best.

As a musician he is really good but as a human he is toxic, envious enviousness.

As given in their religious texts - Muslims will differentiate between Muslims and non- Muslims. It is normal and only few exceptions exist. Even AR Rahman and his elder sister differentiates. As non Muslim try getting into their music school. The elder sister divorced her husband to convert to Islam. Her husband and son remain Hindus to this day. U can see the joy in AR Rahman or SR Khan eyes and words of appreciation when a young Muslim boy sings well in a music contest. AR Rahman father died a Hindu. But the family consider a him a KAFIR. This is the reality.

Since ARR is mentioned I am writing this , ARR was a Hindu Brahmin, his Father was great Musicians and worked along with greats like SBP, this convert is more original than Original, like the saying goes Copies over takes Originals. ARR father had drinking issues and he died young. Rest is history. ARR was introduced by K Balachander, Hindu Brahmin again to revolt against Ilayaraja, as Ilayaraja was too busy to oblige KB those days. KB was a demanding director and quite famous too. ARR is anti Hindu in every sense, and he has very subtle way of creating separatism and in the pre text of Sufi Music he introduces Islamic music copied from Afro Arabic composers and musicians of today. ARR is out there only to spoil Indian Values of Indian Music, meaning Carnatic, etc. But his approach is very subtle and he has a good strings to pull in Dubai and Bollywood due to his present religion. ARR is not to trusted, He is totally anti Hindu.

It is extremely in poor taste to talk about the deceased. Naushad sahib's Hindu Bhajan in Baiju bawra stands as one of the best.

It is absolutely unfair to brand Naushad Ali pro muslim. If he preferred to choose Mohammad Rafi, so did OP Nayyar choose him for long. He was perhaps the greatest singer. Naushad chose Lata not because he had no option but because Lata was so great. An anti Hindu music director could never have produced such masterly Hindu songs.

Mother of Suraiya ji was herself a Muslim, but she called Naushad a communal person.

Maybe it was an ego issue with Mukesh. Naushad used Lata throughout his career. He had to go back to Mukesh for Saathi as Rajinder Kumar insisted. Naushad was surely the villain in the Dev- Suraiyya love story. I hugely admire Suraiya for her resolve to remain unmarried.

@@ImtiazKhan-qo3ct I have nothing against Naushad. I love his songs and his methodical work. I met him personally and he did not drive me away. I only reported the facts and that I had heard about RK asking him, since this video had raised that point. RK always had at least one song by Rafi in his movies. OP even had RK singing in Rafi’s voice in Do Ustaad and SJ did that in Ek Dil Sau Afsaane. Naushad even used to call SJ not musicians, but magicians.

Lata ji was not sung any song related to Dr B R Ambedkar even then after two Ditectors request.

We are fortunate that Naushadji chose Md.Rafi for Baiju Bawra.Actually Md.Rafi was the singer who suited best for Dilip Kumar.BharatBhushan and Naushad- gharana. Kishore kumar's singing style was totally different.Music directors can not choose the producer,director or actors of a movie rather THEY choose the music directors.

Imagine when a bigot like naushad was doing what he wanted, here you have a RAFI who was gold not just in his job, but in his heart also pure gold. He was a close friend of kishore da as well. It has been more than 15 yrs of the death of Naushad saab ,so I don't know whether it is fair to attack him when he is not there to defend himself. This accusation is most likely based on the premise that Mohd Rafi sang the bulk of his songs ,while Kishor almost never sang any. Rafi sang the maximum no of Naushad Saab's songs BECAUSE HE WAS THE BEST AT THAT TIME & EVEN NOW Rafi Saab is the greatest we have EVER had & it is very unlikely that we will EVER have someone better than him.Kishor da was a fine singer but of a limited range,he sang only songs of a particular genre.Has anyone ever heard a quality bhajan,ghazal,qawwali Or classical sung by Kishor.His supporters will say that he didn't learn classical music,BUT,WHO PREVENTED HIM,his father was a top lawyer,so money obviously was not the problem.Rafi Saab landed in Mumbai in utter penury,but started learning various types of music as he went along & thereby sharpened & polishing his already God gifted skills,to the extent that the next best singer the great Manna Dey was always two steps behind Rafi.Naushad gave a lot of songs to Mukesh,Manna,Mahendra Kapoor.His most favorite female singer was Lata ji & not Suraiyya Noor Jahan or Shamshad Begum,so the accusations of Naushad Saab hating Hindus seems motivated.Let's leave Naushad,why did the other greats like Ravi,O P Nayyar ,Madan Mohan,Shankar Jaikishan etc not touch Kishor with a barge pole,ONLY S D Barman( another Bengali) took him, were the others also Anti Hindu.By the end of the 60s & beginning of 70s Rafi's main music directors had either aged or died.The genre of music led by RD Burman also had changed leading to Kishor da's rise & as luck would have it Rafi Saab died in 80 leaving the field empty for Kishore da

जैसा की हमने भी कोई प्रोग्राम में सुना था कि उर्दू के उच्चारणों के बहाने से नौशाद ने लता मंगेशकर जी से अप्रिय व्यवहार किया था और बाद में लता जी ने नौशाद के संगीत में गाना बंध किया था...मुगले आज़म के डायरेक्टर भी कट्टर मुस्लिम ही थे...कुछ मुस्लिम संगठनों से उनके जुड़ाव के बारे में पत्रकारों को ही सबूत जुटाने होंगे
