I honestly consider Yugi the only truly undefeated duelist in Yugioh DM. He threw the duels to Kaiba in season 1 and Rebecca for different reasons when he would have won if the duels played out normally. The loss to Raphael was due to a decision Atem made that Yugi was vehemently opposed to. And finally, Yugi won the ceremonial duel against Atem, making that a win for him and a loss for Atem.

the raphael duel and the rebecca duel aren't in the manga so they are pure filler...the only canon duel yugi ever lost was to kaiba at duelist kingdom when he threatened to kill himself to save mokuba as pegassus threatened him to do whatever it took to beat yugi if he wanted to save his brother.... and the only reason yugi lost was cause he quit but they made sure he was about to win before he quit so we know he was going to win if he didn't quit.....yugi when he wants to can't lose...heck same with joey obviously in battle city when hes controlled by marik….yugi chooses to beat himself... .now technically there was an off screen duel atem lost to joey so he got his red eyes back but we have no idea how they went down if he lost on purpose or if yugi didn't help him...

I love how Bakura understimates Yugi because Atem has been the one visibly dueling. But then Yugi shows that he has been dueling and he ain't no slouch by himself. Especially when Gandora comes out

Unlike a lot of other Shonen heros where the main character has a dream to be the very best and pushes themselves hard to get stronger Yugi just had so much fun playing games that he just always practiced as a fun hobby until one day he beats the current world champ and the rest of the series revolves around him keeping his title as the worlds strongest. It was never his intention to be a champion, his only real aspiration was to surround himself with good friends and just play and the reason he tries and struggles as hard as he does is to protect them, rather than for any drive for himself. When nothing major is at stake, he doesn't care about winning or loosing just how much fun playing a good game with his friends is. I really love that aspect of his character. I don't know if I'd like it for EVERY main character but It's a refreshing change of pace from all the shonen protagonists that have come out since him.

Seems like this personality trait sorta skips almost each gen. Yugi wants to have fun, gets roped into world disasters. Judai wants to be the best, causes world disasters. Yusei wants revenge, has to fix his father's mistakes. Yuma wants to have fun, gets roped into world disasters. Yuya wants to be the best, gets roped into disasters. Don't know anything about Yusaku but starting to see that trend. Most of the characters are just looking to have fun and for some strange reason, gets caught up in natural disasters that get stranger and stranger. First series at least made sense as it was a reinvention of dark magic in the modern age but every one afterwards was always involving the creation of the world and humans and matter and multi-dimensions and blah blah blah.

I love how Yugi Muto's deck and cards reflect his child like innocence and the person he is as a character, plus I love the Silent Magician and Silent Swordsman the most😆😆😆🤩

My favorite Yugi moment was when he taught Yami about losing and got rid of Yami's dark side.

Yugi is confirmed 16 in the original manga. He and Tea are the same age but only a month or two difference. Plus Takahashi said he is 16 years old. Even on Yugioh wiki it states everyone who attends Domino High is 16 to 18. Also Yugi is a very late bloomer which is normal for some protagonists in anime.

Yami Yugi is never doing all the work. They always duel together. Yugi just normally duels in the physical form of Yami. Remember when he was dueling Mai, he was physically Yami but Yugi was doing all of the work until Yami pitched in. Sorry, it just really bugs me when people say Yami does all the work, because that is rarely EVER the case.

yeahhhhhh.... bout that (8) I may be one year late, but I wanna clear out some doubts. The fact of yugi muto fighting against Mai in duelist kingdom is 100% made out from the dub; as you can see in both the japanese version and in the manga that it is actually yami yugi that starts fighting against mai, but he was struggling because he underestimated mai and because of his fear of losing. In case you would be confused about some other matter as well, the fact that when yami yugi is thinking, you hear yugi muto's voice instead is also from the dub only. But may I say that they work separately only for the first seasons in both japanese version and manga, they start to bond as time goes by, specifically after the battle against Mai and pegasus, and there on out you may say that they battle alongside each other, just wanted to make that point clear ^^;;)

That's not what happened in the manga. It was Yami as usual. The reason he struggled at the start was because he was focused on dueling Pegasus and saw Mai as just an irritation therefore not taking her seriously enough.

Yugi is the good half of the pharoah reincarnated. Essentially, Atem is what was the bad half. What he has is reason and the good halfs influence. Season 0 is a good example of what Atem is. They have their ka and then something else as explained in millenium world. Yugi would have grown into what would seem like Atem. reason being, they are the same person, just two halves.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Ishizu said that there were good Millenium Items and bad Millenium Items, and the Puzzle was a "neutral" Millenium Item, which meant that Atem is quite literally, an Anti-Hero, and that's proven in season 0, we see him do Penalty Games only to bad people who harmed his friends, or were just jerks in general, heck, this is what causes Kaiba to make Death-T, Atem made him be eaten by the Duel Monsters over and over again, and after he beats Kaiba, in the manga (Where in the first parts, Atem is 100% taking over Yugi's body, at that point, the Smol Boi didn't remember anything he did when he was possessed) he purges the evil in Kaiba's heart with a Mind Crush, sure, Yugi's the reincarnation of the Pharaoh, but Atem himself is not inherently Evil or Good, he's kinda neutral

He got the best deck with Exodia.. He's so OP that the author nerfed him by taking Exodia off.. xD

There are a lot of decks that are more useful to summon exodia than yugi's one

Really nice video, can't wait for the Yami Yugi version. PD: When yugi complete the puzzle he wishes have really true friends... I wanted to hear that part, but all great.

I appreciate the quiet kind of strength Yugi possesses. In season 0 and the rest of the original, he is the shortest of the crew and lacks great physical strength, but fiercely cares for them just as much as Atem. He also tends to approach battles a little differently, as you say, with a strategic deck with a whimsical tune, whereas Atem effectively uses a sledgehammer to get his wins. And when time allows, he truly shines, especially in two personal favorites: when battling the Spirit of the Ring in the puzzle itself, and the ritual duel.

I just wish they made a season of Battle City V2. So we can see all the characters coming back to duel the main ones just for the sake of fan service. And a lot of them can have an upgraded version of their decks so... Would be awesome having Yugi without Yami having an Arc for himself.

Sure Yugi and Atem are two different people, but Yugi is Atem's reincarnation within the modern times. Just like how Priest Seto's reincarnation is Seto Kaiba and Shadi Shin is the reincarnation of Shada. You can say they are all different people from their past selves.

All hail the king of games!!!! If Yugi is the Modern Day version of Atem, does that make him a direct descendant of Yami? It would make since if they were related because they look so much alike that even his friends couldn't tell the difference at first. Plus, their bond is the most strong, intertwined, and influential. Far more than best friends. Like brother practically.

@@haileycasa3866 They make it very clear that Yugi and Yami have their own soul, Yugi has gotten his soul taken twice and Yami was able to carry on and towards the end of the series Yami went to the afterlife and Yugi was able to go with his life.

I don't think Yugi can be a descedant of Atem since he sealed his soul to save the world before he was able to have children(unless he had one with Mana before his final battle with Zork) The rest of descendants for the next pharaos would be from priest Seto's children. So I think Yugi it's a reencarnation and he'll sooner or later when he grows up will become like him.

So in the ocg/tcg yugi plays a modern dark magician deck kaiba plays a blue eyes deck and joey plays a Red-eyes deck Yugi's deck is a control fusion & ritual deck Kaiba's deck is beatdown fusion & synchro deck Joey's deck is burn style fusion & xyz deck

I love when Yugi destroys Kaiba with the darkness. xD

Other than his duels against his other self and Yami Bakura, I love him in Dark Side of Dimensions which is his him from the manga. The manga is also more epic and more darker than the anime (though the JP anime is better than the Dub). I would love to see them play by the real life duels though rather than the overpowered versions within the anime.

The loss against Pegasus for me doesn’t count since had there been enough time for it to be an actual completed duel yugi would have won same with Kaiba who basically said “if you don’t forfeit I’ll kill myself” same goes to the rebbeca hawkins duel he surrendered for reasons although the had a spell card ( don’t remember the name) which would probably helped him win the duel, the loss against rafael was all atem being controlled and influenced by the orichalcos who’s played a major affect in the loss taking all that into consideration the only loss atem had was to yugi basically losing to himself, after looking all of this technically speaking people could almost say he went undefeated on fair terms

I mean both Yugi and Atem are essentially THE protagonist of the show, so they very much can become unbeatable like the mc of Vrains (he only lost in flashback, apparently, haven't watch Vrain yet)

In dark side of dimensions movie when dueling against diva while with kaiba when vanished when his incarnate atem arrived from the afterlife to help him defeat diva freeing the universe and dimensions.

The Yu-Jo Friendship card is such a weird card. Like, if it were in MTG, it would probably be silver bordered, but in Yu-Gi-Oh, it's just a weird-ass but still technically tournament legal card.

@@reyisawesome maybe 15..some kids are 17 when they graduate high school or 15 as a sophomore ..he looks shorter so I assume hes 15 and turns 16 like as the school year ends and hes more mature and smart for his age

Congrats on 10k man! This is probably the best and most informative one you've ever made, I really enjoyed it (minus the part that you said Yugi's deck is balanced LOL)! My favourite Yugi Muto moment is probably when he defeats Bakura in the Lost Memory Arc...he was so strong and capable and showed his strenght without the Nameless Pharoah' help by defeating the true main villain of the series! Keep it up man!

Great job on the OG king of games. :)

Yugi got so jacked because he spent so much time carrying the series. Either that or Yugi took a good hard look at how often he spent getting beat up in season zero and realized that he can't just give his opponents a cool refreshing glass of Mind Crush™, so he better get stronk.

There was an episode in the anime I think that showed who Anzu loved more she was using this gizmo that tracked her heart rate to tell who she loved most or something like that and it went crazy when Yami Yugi appeared so at first she loved Yami more but it's unclear if that changes later on in the series

Nice video he my favorite character beside yami yugioh.

I just realized that Joey had dived 3 times to help Yugi in some ways, although the 3rd one was more of a drown than a dive

Wow! A biography(kinda) on the KING OF GAMES HIMSELF!!! I wish I got to meet him in person like Jaden Yuki…

Super old, but I gotta cut in: He does lose, once, legitimately, against Jounouchi. It doesn't show this on screen however but there are context clues. Ishizu's necklace showed Yugi a vision where he and Jounouchi are dueling in the future (mainly to prove he lives after Ra smites him). Furthermore, Jou doesn't want to be handed Red Eyes back, he wants to earn/win him back. Which, he is shown using it in season 4, after the events of Battle City have concluded. And the end of season 3, it shows Yugi going to meet Jounouchi for the Duel. I think Jou would've won, since his gamblers deck probably scored him some GOATED rolls, and the puzzle wouldn't have interfered with Yugi's draws, as it wasn't a 'dire circumstance', just a passionate duel between two friends. Or Yugi could've just smited him like the King he is, and Jou could've just impressed him enough to earn it back. But I like the other version better :)

fun reference to ancient Egyptian culture: I think Yugi has some reference to Isis - Osiris' wife. As his character is very caring, and he is also the one who assembled pieces of the late pharaoh (in this case, the puzzle - while goddess Isis assembles Osiris' physical body) he also shows a lot of connection to Dark Magician, while Atem connects with Dark Magician. And they had their bromance (no homo) while Isis and Osiris are a couple. Not to mention he supports Atem all the time (just like Isis does to Osiris) In a way, he also share some references to Horus with Atem (with Atem embodies the "Authority" part, while Yugi embodies many other aspects), as he inherited the throne of "King of Games" from Atem. and he's the one whose core ambition was mainly to make friends (like how Horus, son of Osiris got powers from may other gods), and he did make a lot of friends throughout the story (that we know they both won through the "power of friendship" all the time) just like how Horus got all those power to fight Seth (reference to Atem and Seto rivalry)

He does have a very diverse deck, but because of that you would think it would be hard to play combos and be equipped to counter when he needs a particular spell or trap but I suppose that's never really stopped anyone else has it

I always assumed Yugi just lived with his grandpa

The moment where he really feels like he needs to Dual a Possessed Joey by himself and not allow Yami to Dual during the Battle City Torment. And in combination of that, the entire dual itself. And of course the final moments of the second series just before the collapse of the temple. But I guess that's more of a group moment, rather than a solo Yugi moment.

I found it interesting that his Duel Links ace is Gandora the Dragon of Destruction. Granted it doesn't get as big in speed duels as you normally need it to be, but it has made a great finisher after I've trickled down my opponent's LP with Fossil Tusker and Flamvell Grunika. Yeah. I play battle burn on my main Yugi because I have 4 slots to run the good stuff.

I challenge yugi to a staring eye contest for his tytle of King of games!
