The gryphins are the rivals to the harpies, Mai is very miffed😅

If Jar robber worked on any pot card I could see it being played, be it in a still pretty janky way, being able to negate your opponents pot of extravagance and then draw a card from it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Really kind of wish it worked that way. Like, it even would’ve been cool if they took the concept, like the name and art, and applied to a general counter to drawing. 🤷‍♂️

Will have to look out for the random old "Pot of" spell/trap and monsters that are unrelated to the relevant spell cards that might be around from the early days.

To be fair, if Pot of Greed would be playable, Jar Robber would be a staple in ANY deck, because BARELY ANY DECK has a reason to not play Pot of Greed. (maybe Super Heavy Samurai)

Super Heavy Samurai would still 100% play Pot of Greed. They'd use that one Earth Machine to banish it from the GY before continuing their combo.

It is appropriate that a card as iconic as pot of greed is in fact perhaps the most powerful card ever printed. It’s not just on the ban list, it is the poster child of the ban list.

I definitely like how Legacy Support does so Much with these cards by Making Monsters based off the Art! We Got a Dark Hole Dragon Coming that specifically survives Mass Destruction and grabs a Dark Hole! Phantom Griffon should’ve been Made Ages Ago! But it’s great Legacy support, really helping to diversify the Normal level 4 pool since alot of Cards were seriously missing on that list. Anti-Raigeki also got a monster in the form of Lightning Rod Lord! So hey, I find that to be a plus too since it’s retraining the Art of the old card and making it important for utility!

Gryphon Wing and Anti-Raigeki don't even work all the time because they require your opponent to have cards to destroy to begin with.

So if your opponent plays Raigeki with a clear Monster Card Zone, Anti-Raigeki can't resolve if played?

@@devonm042690you got it. Part of its effect, the part where it destroys all monsters your opponent controls, would have no effect. And in yugioh, you can not activate a card if any of its mandatory effects is unable to do anything. I have always joked around with the effect „if this card is summoned; you win the game, and if you do, destroy one monster your opponent controls.“. This is hilarious, because you would actually never be able to destroy a monster with this, since you would always end the game before it has a chance to resolve. But it does have counterplay, because if your opponent has no monster, then that effect (the whole thing including the autowin) can not be activated. I just always found that funny.

I wish White Hole's effect was simply that both players special summon as many monsters from their GY as possible. Busted? Yes. But the potential, oh boy

I'm glad someone finally adressed these. I'm hoping you also make one video about those troll anti cards that reverse the effects of powerful banned cards like pot of generosity

I always told myself that if im ever at a YCS or maybe even locals. If I every play raigeki and my opponent flips anti raigeki. I will surrender immediately. Opponents- what for real we just started. Me - na man, you the real king of games. I don't wanna find out what else you got in your deck lol

It's not on here, but Weather Report is my favorite specific counter.

White hole is technically the best because it is a “hole” normal trap so traptrix could use it

gryphon wing and anti-raigeki are the cards that can cause you psychological damage because they both screw you over and you never see them coming. the other ones are not that devastating. especially call of the grave. even if someone used it against you wouldn't be ruined any more than any other negation card.

Gryphon Wing was funny. It got released before Feather Duster

i don't know if this card included but i lost once long time ago when i am still in elementary school, it called "Weather Report". till this day I can't forget it. it negate "Sword of Revealing Light" and make him able to attack me twice....

Only those cards that ever created to specifically counter 1-time card and ofc they always activate it as first card most of time when there is nothing that just simply make those specific counters terrible Even if some are not they are just straight terrible such as Pot of Greed counter that you can't counter during opponent's first turn

Honestly magic jammer is a better counter and it helps with building a GY for any effects you need

That’s a good idea. Like, with Anti-Raigeki have it give general protection and extra destruction if it was chained to Raigeki 🤔 That doesn’t sound too bad.

I use jar robber in goat cards crazy it's a plus one that plays under decree and jinzo

These cards should be reworked to counter the effects rather than specific cards. So call of the grave should be "When your opponent summons a card from the graveyard" etc. Also, all the trap cards should be quick play spell cards like jar robber.

I think it's important to put cards in the context of when they were originally created as well, at the time in the OCG Magic Jammer wasn't released yet (A Card that essentially covers all of their uses and more, one could argue the discard cost makes it a sidegrade, but Magic Jammer's wider use case makes it better by all accounts) With the only exception being Gryphon Wing which came out 4 months after Magic Jammer as a Cardass exclusive (Cardass is the card vending machines where you get 1 card per attempt) All of the Specific counters were Rares or Commons, compared to Magic Jammer which was an Ultra Rare until it's reprint 1 year and 3 months later as a Super Rare, which at the time there were no guaranteed holos in packs so they were much harder to get. So essentially the specific counters were budget counters to powerful hard to get cards (Raigeki and Feather Duster were promos, The first was in a the first Starter Deck and the 2nd was a Video Game promo, I can't seem to find any info on how widespread available these items were at the time) It doesn't make the cards any good though, a better choice would be to run your own versions of the cards you're trying to counter instead for a wider use case but a lack of widespread internet access definitely made it harder to get a hand on these powerful cards if your card shop didn't sell (these) singles or if they were outside of your budget

White hole should be a infinity trap instead of a time senaitive use .

I actually played someone who ran a white hole trap card 😂shit was so random soon as I played dark hole he activated white hole reason it was so random he ran a hero deck like what's the chance u going to come across a opponent who has dark hole in there deck ..lol

White hole would be much better if it worked to protect your monsters if you yourself activate black hole to clear the board.

Eh I disagree. I don't think it'd be much better. A two card combo for a card that you almost exclusively play when you're behind and or gain advantage from destroying your own cards along with your opponents. All for what you can do with 1 card that was released in the first set, while white hole wasn't released until 6 months later in NA only tournament packs, a year after for EU tournament packs, and wasn't available worldwide until 2010. Only way white hole could have been good is with an entirely unrelated effect

If anything current white hole is better. Current white hole costs you one card to waste opponents one card. This white hole costs you 2 cards to do what raigeki does, you have to rely on having them both by drawing them, and reduces deck consistency by taking up unnecessary space

Man, I wish there was an easier way to counter monster reborn then 2 very bad traps. Maybe a field spell of some kind. I would call it Necrovalley. Stupid, I know.
