that is a valid line of thinking in ONE scenario : you are outclassed by your opponent, in every line except will to win. even then, it only really works in real time games. turn-based, not so much. i tend to lose MTG matches against one of my buddies as soon as i start tilting, because i stop using my head and start playing emotionally.

they're judging him because it's not his style of dueling. jaden's more of a "go with the flow" type of duelist. he's not a thinking type of duelist.

To be fair, two of those years his brother wasn't in the academy. Syrus was only there for a year and during that year, he had more important things, like trying to protect his key from shadow riders and yknow, being top of the class. That most certainly wouldn't come easily.

it's sort of a lost in translation issue. he is playing more carefully and thinking out his plays, as opposed to just topdecking his way out and playing his favorite toys. in the japanese he's more calm in the episode and isn't as enthused

Ronald Dragon of America Jaden mainly plays using his heart, and gut feelings. So naturally using his head would be too much for him. Leading to overthinking. His friends know this and says to “play with his heart.”

The problem is that Jaden believes the only way to beat Zane is to play on his terms. Unfortunately, this causes him to get cocky and think Zane will pull the exact same moves he did last time, only to be caught off-guard when he doesn't. He's less focused on having fun like he usually is and more focused on defeating his opponent, ironically disrespecting him in the process. And as we saw back in episodes 7 & 8, Zane has a strong disdain for cocky duelists who disrespect their opponents, like Syrus back when they were kids.

This brings back so many days of school off the best athlete in school loved to get his game right a trade cards on the yard to this day still warms the hart with these cartoons would have called myself childish a few years ago but it’s been a good look back

It's cool that Zane is using his strategy of fusing Cyber End Dragon just as effectively as I do.

Listening to Zane continually scorn Jaden is actually a bit heartbreaking.

i love how zane wanted jaden to be the duelist he was in there first one, here jaden isnt being that which is making zane unhappy. he knows jaden is a good duelist since he almost beat him

Season 1 was the most entertaining out of the show

I love these shows, OG Yugioh and this one in particular, but they always make me laugh by incorporating anime logic into a card game where you have to THINK to win! Jaden was doing everything right. “Nope! Stop thinking! It’s all about the heart of the cards” 😂

@Kari Legion They also changed sending the monsters on turn 1. You have to wait to send too, and you can destroy it while it's face up and it will do nothing xD
