Hi there. Great video and you explain things really simply and easy to follow👊I have a Saracen Ariel 50e which is absolutely brilliant and has performed for 700 miles perfectly with no issues👍I have just updated the software which seems to have made the range estimation a little more accurate, but whilst I was in the E-Tube app I checked for errors and found the E01003 logged. As I said, the bike has given me no problems, but I wonder if I need to get this investigated further as I've got some big rides coming up💪I've subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos😎Cheers Del

Hi, the E01003 is quite a common fault and is sensor based. In general shimano motors ep8, e8000 etc can be very sensitive to say the least. most errors will disappear after a few hundred yards pedalling but will remain in the log so that they can be sent to shimano for assessment. Dont worry about it if your bike is running normal and not constantly showing errors on the display.

@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic Thanks for your reply🤩The ep8 on my bike has performed faultlessly, and I know it gets some stick for not feeling as powerful and a being a rattly on decents, but out on tge trail, its so smooth and natural feeling, and nobody smashes climbs in Boost all day anyway😆

@marcdxn87 It's awesome bud👊Really no complaints and it's had a lot of use now. It got COMPLETELY submerged in a waterlogged sink hole, and did several REALLY wet rides in Wales and the Alps.

Hello love your videos. You are an asset to Mountain Biking. lovely easy chilled out vids with great advice. I need to pick your brains my Orange Phase MX works faultless and is all updated software wise. When I use my new second battery I get the E10 error code and it logs a E01020 and then won't allow me to do anything. I replace the original battery everything is fine and rides ok. Any ideas?

Hi, Thanks for watching and your comment. Have you connected the bike to etube with the new battery installed on the bike and ran diagnostics via a laptop and not via a mobile phone?

Hey man, i have some motor problems with my e8000. I had the e020 and e010 for a while and struggled to fix them. I live in norway and i my battery connections had been damaged by salt and rust. I replaced the connector on the bike and in the battery. Bike Worked great for around 1-2 weeks. Suddenly i got w013 and them e010. And its been full screen e010 Since. I really have no idea what it is. My motor is 4 yrs old and out of warranty. Is there anything i can do?

Hi, Try your shimano dealer, perhaps they can speak to Shimano to negociate to supply a new motor at a discount

@@Cookie.x.monsterr hey man, i ended up finding a new motor on the equivalent on Craigslist in my country. I installed it myself, but went to a bike shop to have it programmed with the right settings (Angle of motor and stuff). What’s the problem with yours?

@@ogrbrg e20. I think it’s a loose batter or something. Seems to be when I bang the bike hard or lifting bike on back wheel may make battery drop and lose connection:/ going to have a good look tomorrow as it’s been sitting for ages

I got the E010 code Blaaaa any thoughts on a ay to reset or test

hello from france, i have a megamo al 10 ltd 2022 since 3 weeks and with ep801 and 630 w battery , code error appear quickly after few miles .i let sleep the battery out and after 2 rides 1h30 ,error code again and now after coplete battery charge out the bike, code error again in 1 second and i can't strart the drive unit with screen off , thanks you if you have suggestions beacause i will go in shop in 2 days.

Hi, It needs to be plugged in and diagnostics taken to find out what the problem is.

Ive got the E05000 error on a 2 day old bike. Do I just try and ride it with the bike on and it will clear itself?

Hi Ben , double check that the speed sensor is correctly positioned. Disconnect the battery and re install the battery. Ride it to see if it clears the error. If it doesn’t you going to have to book it in with the dealer. Where are you?

@@Benviermann Thanks Ben! I was doing the same thing, riding at a slow cadence practicing wheelies. When I stopped then pedaled normally is when it gave me the error. Sounds like a software issue I guess. Cheers

Hi Chris, The software is downloadable from shimano steps website but you need a shimano pce02 interface, these are available to buy but not cheap.

Hi there, whereabouts are you based pls? Im hoping somewhere W Yorks. I had a new Shimano Motor under warranty about 9 months ago but have now got continual E010 error that just won’t clear no matter what I do. They won’t look at it again under warranty as the bike is almost 2 years old now and not covered any longer. If you can let me know your contact details I will Give you a shout. Thanks.

Greetings, The Yorkshire Bike Mechanic, I found you recently and immediately gave you a subscription. I've been driving Merida eONE Sixty 900-E since 2.3.2019, today I've driven 22770 km / 14143 miles and I've never had an error code. But now the engine is grinding while pedaling - apparently some bearings are dead, and it's a shame it's so far for you to change bearings. Honestly: it's not a lot of km / miles for the price of an engine, is it? Will I have to buy a new engine, should I choose E8000 or EP8? Thank you for your videos, I wish you good luck!

Hi, thanks for watching. You have done really well getting that sort of mileage without getting bearing noise earlier, it’s normal for a motor overhaul at that mileage. Not sure where you are or how close to a shimano ebike dealer but they will be able to get you a new motor GBP cost would be approx 900 which considering the fun and use you have had is good value, do you know how many charges your battery has had? You will find that the ep8 motor has slightly different mountings.

@@TheYorkshireBikeMechanic Yes, thanks for the encouragement. In terms of batteries, my wife drives M#rida METALLIC CRIMSON 7,258 km / 4,508 miles, together we use three batteries. The 1st BT-E8010 / 503 Wh battery has 122 charge cycles, capacity 82%. The 2nd BT-E8010 / 503 Wh battery has 67 charge cycles, capacity 88%. 3rd battery BT-E8016 / 630 Wh has 25 charge cycles, capacity 96%. If possible, I try to maintain the batteries according to Shimano's recommendations. Good luck to you!

I don't think that is the YT Decoy Shred. The Shred had a coil shock and the older E8000 motor.

@@phyqa1 I took mine to YT and they just fitted a new speed sensor under warranty. If your doing it yourself though id try cleaning the sensor and the connector before buying a new sensor Good luck !

Hi, Thanks for watching and your comments. E10 errors are so difficult to solve, you have done what I would have recommended, if that has not solved it then your shimano dealer needs to be setting up a case with Shimano.

Hi Ashley, You may be right but Im keeping my fingers crossed for this customer, the motor has only done 150 miles, eekkk. the main thing is that I know shimano wont quibble, they will send me a new motor no problem. Thanks for watching.

My motor has only done 150 miles in 4 years in march and have the e010 error which won't clear. Its out of warranty but local shimano dealer wanna plug it in and see what it's is saying. Shocking if its a new motor has its not even been rode.
