Okay, explanation time! I have seen so many reaction videos and reaction compilations to Banjo-Kazooie in Smash Ultimate, and no compilations at all for the Dragon Quest Heroes from the same Nintendo Direct (except for one that I’ll talk about below). Some of the reactions I’ve seen to Dragon Quest in Smash Ultimate have been negative, and it makes me extremely sad to see that; and it’s all because they have swords... Who the fuck actually cares about that?! That’s not a legitimate reason to get mad about their inclusion. I understand that RPGs/JRPGs are not for everyone, but if the toxic Smash Bros. fandom’s gonna keep bitching about them, then maybe they should try playing their games and see what they think of them. I think it’s lame when people complain about a franchise without ever playing said franchise; you literally have no reason to have an opinion on something if you’ve never even played it. The same can be said for a ton of different things... … Anyway, since my rant is over for now, I’ve decided to make a reaction compilation for Dragon Quest in Smash Ultimate that are extremely positive. I decided to pick English speakers for this compilation because, you know, I know what they’re saying; but I have seen a reaction compilation of Japanese KZreadrs reacting to the Dragon Quest news, and that really, really warms my heart. Ragged Knowledge DID post a compilation of The Hero reactions...but it isn't gaining as much traction, so it's not as big, promoted or search-relevant as his Banjo ones(And Others' comps as well.)... Keep the good vibes coming.

my favorite reactions are the ones where they either recognize it from the silhouette or get it as soon as they hear the first few notes of the Dragon Quest overture, feels more like someone who truly loves the series instead of faking their hype

I, who was not a fan of Dragon Quest at the time. I wasn't as hyped the Hero reveal, but I was surprised that they put Dragon Quest in smash at all, because they weren't added in smash 4.. But because of how cool and unique he was in smash ultimate, I decided to give his home game a try. So I asked my mom to buy it for me.. Because I played the demo before, I was Invested in the story, so It was enough to convince me.. And honestly, I had no regrets. And after a few months, because I loved the game so much, I decided to purchase Dragon Quest III which I also had fun playing but was a bit harder to play because of random encounters, but I got used to it... And now I want every Dragon Quest on switch. I would buy other systems, but my only source of Income is through birthdays and such. And then new games are coming out so it's hard to save money, and I'm in Highschool and It's hard to find a job, especially because of the pandemic... But someday when I'm an Adult I will find a decent paying job so I'll be able to afford merchandise.. But then I have to pay taxes.... Weird I went from "Smash" to "Paying Taxes", huh...

I've never played DragonQuest but it is sad! as an RPG fan I've wanted to play dragon quest for a while now, so the fact that he's "another Anime swordfighter" is just sad because now everyone's hating on a franchise because of the fact that it has swords! I find this truly sad.

I think it comes down to how the Fire Emblem characters mostly play very similarly. It's had an impact on both how FE characters are perceived and how sword characters in Smash are perceived even though we have ones who play very differently, such as Link and Cloud and Shulk.

And don't forget that Dragon Quest was the grandfather of JRPG'S. And it's sad that not alot people knew about it because it wasn't as popular as Final Fantasy or other JRPG'S.

My only experience with Dragon Quest is Dragon Quest Builders. I really liked it. The people and the monsters really brought the world to life. I am planning to get DQ builders 2 and DQ11 once they come out because I became a fan after trying a free demo.

Watching your video in 2021. I love Dragon Quest. My love for the franchise came from Mr. Akira Toriyama, the creator of the Dragon Ball Z manga and his design work. Dragon Quest VIII is the first Dragon Quest game I ever played and I was extremely excited about Hero joining Smash.

Its a great game and it seems the definitive edition is adding a lot of stuff so its probably the best place to start if you have any interest in the series.

It's just my dumb way of putting it.. Zelda is the Dragon Quest in the west. To me, the reveal just shows Japan telling America "this is how you do it bitch". lol

I still would have preferred Crono. But Hero is good too.

I think the DQ8 hero is probably the closest to resembling a personality but other then that there all silent protagonist.

They're silent, but the later protagonists do have personality traits. Unfortunately since they are silent, we have to be told about them through Party Chat.
