Youtubers fanboying over Ethoslab

Hi!
If you don't know who Etho is he is best known though for his single player Minecraft let's play series that started over 12 years ago; being a prominent member of the redstone community; a member of Hermitcraft and just overall being a cool guy. I would definitely recommend checking him out! :)

Whats funny is some of the hermits he play with are also some of the OGs of minecraft youtube. Xisuma, Mumbo, keralis, bdubs, joehills, docm. Xisuma and joehills have been playing on the hermitcraft server since 2012, and xisuma started making minecraft videos in 2011, docm started in 2011. Goodtimeswithscar started making cod videos in 2011. Some of them started year or two, after him. A lot of the hermits are og minecrafters and most of them are basically the second generation of youtube creators. Its actually insane to think about.

One of my favorite Etho fanboy moments was in Last Life when Grian and Impulse released a wither in Etho's base. They were looking around trying to figure out where everyone was and realized that Etho was in fact taking the wither on by himself. I remember someone asking "is he SOLOing it?" and someone else just saying "of course he is. He's Etho." Great moment.

No matter what content style a person prefers to watch, they will undoubtedly click on an Etho vid when it pops up. Even if they like background music n stuff like that (spotify on another device simultaneously would probably work well, Idk cuz I'm not the type that cares all that much about style n tends to lean toward the longform stuff with commentary). The joke of him being washed up is funny because everyone knows it's a joke n they're close enough with one another to trust that it is in fact a joke entirely. Maybe i'm captain obvious for saying that but I wanted to say it anyway 😅

I think the most amazing, most loveable thing about Etho is, that he remained to be Etho. He could EASILY have gone full time KZreadr and probably make a lot more money with it, but he doesn't. He could put his face out there, define his brand, get sponsors and so on. But he doesn't. He just does what he likes, he is still himself (sure, over such a long time with so much going on, everybody changes a little, but where it matters, he didn't change). Just humble, smart, funny and just such a nice guy. Over the past 10 years, I played like 150 hours minecraft in my life, watched like 500 hours minecraft on YT bc of Etho, no regrets :,)

He keeps in his lane and makes genuinely interesting minecraft content. He doesn't like drama, he doesn't do politics, he doesn't 'support' or 'hate' anything. Just a dude minecrafting uploading to youtube and we're here for it for the same reason we play games, to relax and escape a bit while we eat some snacks.

It does my heart some good to see people discovering and enjoying Etho's content to this day. Etho holds a special place in my heart as the only KZreadr I am still watching to this day, and I know I'm not alone. I was there the day his first modded minecraft series, FTB, started, blown away that mincraft could even have mods. I was a child just getting into middle school, and now here I am, a grown man, finished my degree, and am now looking forward to a job by the end of the month. It is honestly mind-boggling how consistently he has been a part of my existence. It's odd when I think about it, though. Etho stands out as an anomoly in the YT space, he has been doing the same thing for 12 years and yet I still see the same number of people click his videos now as I did 6 years ago. Still see the same crowd in the comments. When everything else and everyone else changed, Etho still keeps on doing what he's always done. Maybe that is what I love about his channel. No matter how my life changes, I can always log in and feel a bit like a kid again. Watching his videos.

Its still possible to watch his old content, but i understand that it just isn't the same as watching in release. (Especially for server series like Mindcrack and Hermitcraft where the experience of the season is enhanced by watching multiple perspectives in parallel, atleast on rewatches anyway if you just pick 1 playlist of say hermitcraft S7 you won't know all the other events going on unless its Grian or someone else who uploads daily and "gets around".)

I have the rare privilege of watching the first Etho MC video as it came out seeing him build up the first base, troll the crap out of his viewers, and do boat experiments as i was in the LP scene around the time of Xs Adventures and Costar. DocM and Etho were my guys and i still watch Etho’s single player to this day as they come out. It’s so rare to watch someone on youtube for 10+ years and they never once disappoint you.

Obviously people rate Etho for his humility and I do think that is wonderful and somewhat rare for someone of his stature, reputation and legacy on KZread, but I do think the humility is the by-product of something else, and that's the ability and desire to make other people feel comfortable. I also love how he likes hanging out with other people and just chilling and goofing off, when they're recording/streaming and he's not. He's not saying "if you want to see me talk about y then tune into x" to try and boost content, he's just hanging out with them because he genuinely wants to, pretty much regardless of the size of their platform/their background (see how he kept checking in with people on Pixelmon) for the joy of hanging out with them, even if (possibly especially if) he doesn't know them that well. He's not there to make content, he's there to spend time with people in a low-pressure way. That's something that's so rare in the instagram/micro-blogging/influencer era and is worth holding on to.
