YouTuber & singer Gabbie Hanna speaks about becoming famous on social media & her music career

Gabbie Hanna speaks to Oxford Union president Hannah Edwards about becoming famous on Vine and how she handled fame at a young age.
Ms Hanna has released two studio albums and written both plays and books. She took a break from social media in 2022 after she posted over 100 TikTok videos in one day - which she later attributed to a manic episode brought on by bipolar.

ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.
The Oxford Union is deeply grateful and encouraged by the messages of support in response to our determination to uphold free speech. During our 200 year history, many have tried to shut us down. As the effects of self-imposed censorship on university campuses, social media and the arts show no signs of dissipating, the importance of upholding free speech remains as critical today as it did when we were founded in 1823. Your support is critical in enabling The Oxford Union to continue its mission without interruption and without interference. You can support the Oxford Union here: oxford-union.org/supportus

She really minimized the fact that she gave her book to a person that she "didn't find interesting" and then got mad, lied about the person and went on a whole campaign against her... for reviewing the book that GABBIE sent her. That's wild.

Even if she hasn't changed, people like you certainly haven't hence your same old 'proof she hasn't changed' crap like she owes you or me or anyone anything. Why should she change for you if you're not gonna change for her? She's trying to change for herself, she's not reading comments, and because of people like you i hope she's able to stick to that permanently.

@@RoxanneLavender except I didn’t screw ppl over like she did. And its because of mindless followers like you that she won’t ever take accountability for her terrible actions. She loves to rewrite history to portray herself as the victim and people like you enable her to continue to do so. Everything that ever happened in her life, she brought it upon herself. Even the rice gum situation. It’s never OK to put your hands on anyone, so I was on her side, but at the end of the day, she did lie about him hitting her… she changed the story multiple times to get people on her side. That’s why people don’t believe victims.

She told an interesting story about her experience with cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery as an influencer in L.A. Like how she went to get a bit of filler above her nose bridge, then they talked her into getting it in the tip of her nose too, and her chin, jawline, temples, botox, lips, etc. How every time she would go to get touch-ups they would be like ''you're not symmetrical you'll look better with this, and it's free'', etc. It was actually really interesting to hear about that, and how majorly toxic that sh*t is, and to beware the things these people will say if you you go to these places, and how it can really darken your spirit, etc. I wonder if it happens in the UK too with influencers, i bet it does.
