This is actually a really interesting demonstration of why we shouldn't make too many systems driven by AI. AI is ultimately just another algorithm with an optimization function that Spiffing Brit can break.

Not entirely sure about that. For a site like youtube to work you are going to need most of this stuff automated with algorithms. Yes people will find exploits like the Spiffing Brit but those can be patched. Apparently an old statistic is about 500 hours of footage is uploaded to youtube every single minute. That is literally impossible to sort or organize by humans.

@@EnderofGames i think they mean that ai is not a standard algorithm. They ar eprobably referring to deep learning models which can adapt and evolve. They are not stationary. But yes the models themselves are algorithms

Wait at 2:28 he says there was an average watch time of one minute and 7 seconds which is 67 seconds. Wouldn’t that mean a 6700% retention rate not 6070%?

Poked around a few source files out of curiosity, and... yike. It's a miracle the thang dings worked at all, let alone functioned 80% of the time until getting confused by a trash can on the sidewalk...

I actually find these ones outside of games fascinating. Taking a deep look at how a system we all participate in works, and then exploiting that system with its own rules in a way any of us could've done. It's brilliant

A modern way of doing QA is just calling Spiffing Brit and letting him do his thing

Prior to blank coming out every single short I watched would autoloop. A few days later and some shorts still do loop, but most have actually just stopped and you have to rewind them. I choose to believe Spiff had a hand in prompting that change.

Not even lying, that spiffco nation (tm) fit goes hard to an unwarranted degree.

I believe that you can help someone out with your experiments .. Ozgeographics seems to be having some difficulties with analytics manipulation by third parties.

I'm kinda curious how well this will actually work. The KZread algorithm is a neural network (see relevant 2016 paper about it) that is optimized to maximize a user's session length, so it seems plausible that community posts of your own content are not manually restricted, and that this restriction is just something the algorithm learned not to do in order to retain users. Knowing this, I wouldn't be surprised if this scheme either doesn't go as well as expected, or is quickly rendered unreproducible by too many people doing it, thus re-training the algorithm to select against it without the engineers at YT having to do a thing.
