    Someone commented under the GH5 video of this same choreo that it looked like he had to simplify some of the moves while teaching at GH5, because it was hard for the people at 1M to learn all the moves or something, so I guess it seems like it is one of the hardest choreos, Mel.

    The dance difference in Korea is very noticeable, Sean has more body control and Expresses his emotion while most Korean dancers don't have that and is very noticeable. As well as how western dance has a big influence on Sean shows clearly the great difference. That's the reason why most kpop idols go to LA to trainee at least for 1-3 to learn the basic steps of dancing all THOUGH it's hard to learn in a few months but SEAN for sure is making us proud.

    American dance academies, like the ones Sean grew up attending, focus on technicality and musicality. Whereas most Asian dance academies focus on stage presence energy. Sean was lucky enough to be able to study dance all over the world and so I believe he has one of the widest sets of dance experience and knowledge. But all in all, both Asia and America have very talented dancers and when Asian dancers go over to America to perfect their skills they become truly amazing. Like the Jabawokeez (did I spell that right?😂)

  • @valenyosas

    @valenyosas

    @@sarangjams9721 I fully agree! I think korean dance academies (or culture?) focuses more on stage presence energy, choreographies that are more public, more aesthetically pleasant, and doesn't need certain dance knowledge/interest to be highly appreciated if that makes sense? While western dance academies/culture are more 'like classical stages' as in focuses more on technicality, complexity, emotions, etc. This also shows in each of their pop industries. There are much more publicly known k-pop choreos and of course, idols that incorporate memorable and pleasing dance routines to their performance/songs than in the western pop industry (like, all I can think of is beyonce, whip and nae nae, and more recently wap).

    I love it when US based choreographers come to 1Million always brings to light what this studio and majority of th eKorean dance scene is missing.... individual style, character and variety. After watching a lot i mean a lot of 1Million, they became flat and holes started to show apart from exceptions like Lia Kim and few others. So i always appreciate when Outside influencers come and add more flexibility to my beloved Korean Dance Studio

    Very good musicality. Honestly, that's what I consider dancing to be - listening to sounds in the music, and move to as many sounds as you can manage while maintaining control, isolate and be precise. The best dancers in the world that embody this style are Les Twins. In this video, Sean Lew choreographed a piece that was a good demonstration of that style. Loved it.

    coming back here after almost 4 years to say this is still the hardest choreography taught on 1M (after watching all videos after this was uploaded). so to everyone who still wants to justify their comment of "not the hardest", go see it for yourself. None of the dancers ever gave justice to this choreo, some were a bit close but never too close to justify it. Nonetheless, props to all dancers who attended this class.. 1M and Korean Dancers in general need choreos like this tbh. They may look so good in every korean dance studios but when they go to LA, it's not even close

    I was thinking the same! Nobody can recreate the exact same movements, some did several movements too big IMO. It's all about the small but suuuuuper precise movements that makes it so unique and so damn good. I think Rikimaru & Yumeri were Closest to it anyway. With their own Quality of moving but Close to Sean's!

    they did well considering it was insanely intricate piece they had to learn and perform in like an hour from a fairly new teacher/choreographer lol that choreo is like made by him but also for him in a way so its always going to look best when he's performing it. i think he'll eventually be able to translate his pieces better so that everyone can try and put their own spin on it. this one is really hard to add a variety of styles to. not saying that's bad but its really hard to just nail something like this in an hour. most of those people are professional dancers/choreographers and they had trouble but if they had more time im sure they could nail it

  • @SherbertLomon

    @SherbertLomon

    Infinitemagic i disagree you can see that all of them could do the move fine, but musicality and smooth footwork etc can’t be taught. That’s what makes him different from everyone else, his attention to detail. Also you feel like everyone else is just going through the motions etc but he’s living in the moment.

  • @bobjohnson1737

    @bobjohnson1737

    6 жыл бұрын

    completely disagree - don't get me wrong, Sean is a unique talent and for his age, i don't think there is anyone comparable on his level but nonetheless, his choreo and dance style is unique and you can't expect everyone to do carbon copies but can only expect people to express it in their own way. Also, you don't know how long everyone has been training; usually its only an an hour or two before its being recorded but even if you give them a day to work on it, imagine how long it took sean to come up with it and practice it and then design a teaching method around it so he could teach it. Any comparison would be unfair. Lastly, the Chikada siblings are legends- you shouldn't write people off that you do not know their complete history nor their accomplishments or popularity in another part of the world. Yumeri is a living legend in the hip pop dance world, so its really unfair to say she can't do something as good or better than Sean. If you actually know Sean, he's going to tell you Yumeri along with others are all teachers and idols of his and he himself would never say anything along the lines of what you said.
