Youri Egorov plays Brahms Op.118 Nos. 1, 2, & 6 'live' in 1983
A live recording of Youri Egorov in 3 of Brahms Klavierstuecke Op.118: Nos 1, 2, & 6. The April 22, 1983 performance took place just under five years before the pianist's tragic death at the age of 33 and demonstrates the qualities for which he was justly famous: magnificent tone quality, a huge dynamic range, wonderfully arched phrasing, and flawless balance between voices and between melodic and harmonic elements. Egorov did not record any Brahms in his EMI sessions, making this performance all the more interesting and valuable.

Absolutamente extraordinario!! Gracias a Usted por descubrirlo!!! Que tono, que riqueza de matices!! 😮❤❤
No "hybris" in Youri's play, just beauty.
What a shame he died so young! Superb playing! Thanks for the upload!

Fantastic pianist!
I just discovered this treasure tonight. Surely one of the great Brahms piano performances ever. Every phrase -- and there are many of them, overlapping and intertwined -- is carried to its conclusion. Superb tone. Thank you for uploading.
Great, really great
Yes, great playing. Thanks for posting.
Extraordinary playing.
Thank you very much
Trying your earliest post, I was very pleased with Egorov's playing here. I had seen some LP's when they first appeared, but they didn't excite much interest, I thought this was just the next in line of a long procession of young Russian hot tickets. I did occasionally wonder "what ever became of....." like a number of others. (E.g. does anyone remember Dmitris Sgouros?). But I digress.........everyone's right, these are thoughtful, deeply felt and masterful renderings. The Eb minor conjures up a bleak, frozen landscape.
Apollo was the god of music, and protector of the young. So much for myths.
Andante teneramente 7:37 VI. Andante, largo e mesto
wow yeah I searched in vain for this one, effectively no C.D. Many thanks
Remember how Apollo saw off Marsyas.
