Yeah. As an EO fan myself, all the context necessary was that in the original, the game forces you to genocide an intelligent species to advance, and makes it clear that you are awful for doing this, while in the remake's story mode they try to excuse the main characters by saying the species has some kind of incurable disease that makes them lose their minds, so you have no choice but to kill them for their own good. You don't need to put the game's whole story in your email.

Well the thing to remember is that by return of the Jedi Jabba is like a creepy old man who spent like fifty years sitting around eating and smoking, so of course he can barely feed himself, but other Hutts are probably more active. Plus there's a scene in one of the tie in books where Jabba's dad shows up and him and his gang are having a blaster fight with some empire soldiers, and Jabba's dad (who just looks like Jabba with a beard and Dreadlocks, his name is Zorba the Hutt look him up) just sits there and tanks blaster fire because his hide is so thick that he no sells it. So Hutts are tougher than they look.

@@psykomancer4420 It's both. But the fun part, is how the dynastic power structures got started in the first place: long long ago, when the hyperdrive was brand new, Hutts were a warrior society, conquering numerous star systems and subjugating entire species. At one point there was a civil war, obliterating Hutt society to near apocalyptic levels, and rendering their homeworld completely uninhabitable. This led to Boonta the Hutt and their revolutionary reforms, transforming their culture into the criminal syndicates we know now. The idea being that Hutts are naturally extremely competitive with each other and need the outlet, but can't ever be allowed to reach that boiling again. So now, being so obese that you could barely lift your hand to your mouth was seen as being cultured and refined. But despite the shift in thought, any Hutt that chose to hit the gym and stick with it, would be absolutely terrifying and shockingly fast

"I feel like: The longer your title is, the less faith you have in the story's own core appeal" Pat might be on to something with this statement. There's also something interesting about how the Isekai publishing via mob rule racket operates, however poorly it might run. I feel like getting your story published as an author, would be more about who you know. Mainly because book publishing and book sales in the US are nothing more than a money laundering racket. The worst part on isekai titles is that it's a cycle. Only long titles get picked up, only long titles are there for reference for new writers, everyone only tries long titles because they're afraid of losing engagement. I saw this SO MUCH with webcomics and paneling trends. Do 60 episodes or get out. Get the most bombastic initial episode or readers won't subscribe. Do gigantic white spaces or you'll lose readers' attention. Get surprised when an artist fucking dies of overwork or quits due to burnout. I'm so glad page comics stayed alive because a lot of artists just didn't care for that and kept going with their amazing works

What happens is people start to get more and more unhinged with using the letter reading as a platform to tell their life story instead of giving simple context to their question. And I can't really blame how it gets that way. I'll give a personal example, from being at Woolie's panel at TooManyGames. Basically *everyone* who asked a question, me included, gave some personal context to their question, because we've all figured out Woolie and his various co-hosts love how everyone has their own individual experience with the thing they're asking instead of inevitably asking the exact same question 500 times that the asker hasn't caught up on. Eventually you're GOING to get people that don't check themselves on the word count when they do this, because they get so caught up in "having their moment" with getting it put out there for the world to hear. And back to the personal example, I had literally only thought of the Soul Calibur-adjacent question since Woolie announced the line-up for the mic, and I tell you having to re-edit how to go over it in my head was *agonizing* because having to edit yourself can be really tough at first when you just want to run your mouth. I like to think I did an okay job at condensing the context into my question at the end, but lemme tell you, if you want an easy path to getting hit with Pat's lesson: Do it for a con panel instead of an infinite letter. You will check yourself REAL fast especially hearing the people in front of you having equally reasonable lengths in their explanations. ...Yes, I realize the irony of the comment being this long to describe this, but hey, that's why I added the personal context, to demonstrate it. (Also I agree with Pat, it's hilarious that the end of that bit was an actually good question)

21:35 While the lead up is correct - Jabba was just a chubby dude - this part I'm pretty sure is incorrect - and chat rightly calls him out for. The original release of Star Wars (IV A New Hope) and all home video copies had the scene cut from the movie. It wasn't until the special edition re-release in like '97 that the scene was put back in, and they changed it to look like a younger, greener Jabba, rather than just "Chubby schlub".

Funny thing about part of Woolie's example long-as-fuck title including Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon, that is not an Isekai. It's just a regular fantasy world with one of those stupidly long titles. But, the fantasy world does have quantifiable RPG stats in it, but that's just how real life is for them and it's not actually some video game and people just don't question how they're able to quantify their own stats. I haven't actually watched the show, for the record, I've only played the recent dungeon crawler game that's on Switch (and PS4/5 and Steam), and it does a decent job catching you up on basic concepts without needing the show (The most I've seen of the show itself is the one meme gif of the two MC's doing that toothbrush dance.) Unlike, say, the Fairy Tail game starting like several seasons in but having zero subtitle to tell anyone this is for fans and not meant to be a starting point. Yeah, I'm a little salty I almost got suckered by that game. ...That sure tangented.

Gotta admit. I sent a kind of long letter a while back, dunno if it ever even went through since I mostly catch CSB through these cuts, but I remember that it was a _long_ letter about what was functionally my personal understanding of mind's eye, mind's ear, that sort of thing after Pat mentioned not being able to replicate other peoples' voices mentally. Feeling a bit self conscious. When I was writing that I wanted to be as clear as possible and did a lot of overexplaining and reiteration because I felt an odd sort of parasocial kinship with Woolie after the whole 'growing up when we had differences we'd explain where we were coming from and get past it, what do you mean explaining myself comes off as making excuses? people think that way?' thing and I suppose thought being as clear as possible meant being exhaustive in detail. I forget sometimes that tiring people with incessant dialogue is sometimes worse for clarity, not better. Explanation, not excuse. Will learn from that mistake.

It's a catch 22 with him since he's also used to dealing with the super freaks that have actually listened to every podcast going back to the SBFP era. It's not easy as someone in the public spotlight. That and it'd get really tedious to repeat after the fourth or fifth time (Remember when he made Pat hate Sayonara Wild Hearts within the podcast of it getting brought up)
