If the US decides to wipe my country of the earth, I'd be ok with getting killed by a Gundam. As long as he doesn't just step on me. The only reason giant robots are better than tanks in anime is usually due to two main factors: greater speed and manueverability (tanks can't sidestep, for example), and 3D movement (either by jumping or flying, which tanks may find difficult to pin down). Until we can build systems and materials capable of making BOTH of those factors viable, cool-ass mecha will always lose to boring old tanks. And even then, if you applied that same technology to tanks, the non-humanoid shape carries far more advantages. Of course, that's only thinking about anime-style giant robots. Western-style robots like MechWarriors are objectively shit right from the start.

I just finished watching the mech battle right before watching this. It was both awesome and dumb. Here's what happened so spoilers below... (Spoilers) Two rounds, the Japanese mech vs two American mechs. First round starts and within twenty seconds the Japanese mech punches the American mech with an instant knockout. One-Punch man style. (kind of like what Woolie wanted.) Second round felt a little scripted but that American mech's chainsaw ripping into the Japanese mech was pretty cool. (also almost like what Woolie and Matt wanted.) I think the pilots of the mechs might have seen this podcast because a lot of what happened in the fight was very similar to what these guys wanted. Even the whole people almost dying thing almost happened.

I equate the Megabots v. Suidobashi fight to a round of Battlebots/Robot Wars. A fuckton ton of hype prior to the match (in this case, like two years) which lead to a round 1 knock out. Also, the concept of weight classes needs to be addressed if this becomes a thing.

Its about time you guys started uploading podcast highlights. Hopefully this will curb or kill off all of the channels who just rip and upload parts of your podcast and they have the balls to monetize it. If they were making animations out of your audio that would be different as that's transformative, but there's so many channels who just steal your shit and then they sick their own ads on it. What's even funnier is they have call to actions in the stolen clips, like "Subscribe for more great content" or "Don't forget to subscribe" ... Why would anyone subscribe to a channel that's just stealing from another group of content creators? Like these reupload channels have no value outside of ripping you guys off, yet they think they have some merit.

Twitch chat *carried* this segment SO HARD ... it was a thing to Behold
OH! they updated it here now, nice. I just love the "L O L Kappa" in twicht chat as the father of future super pilot hero kid dies! "pogchamp!"
That part of the podcast was a wild ride They sterted to talking about the fight they ended with the best anime ever
It’s amazing how much they correctly predicted about the fight. Right down to the big anime punch.
I'm so happy you guys are uploading some episodes of your casts to KZread, I'm a poor fucker and can't afford a twitch subscription😓
We now live in a world where giant robots being used as weapons for war will be a question of when, rather than if. I am okay with this timeline.

not really - at all. i bet smart tanks will be the future weapons of war.

If the US decides to wipe my country of the earth, I'd be ok with getting killed by a Gundam. As long as he doesn't just step on me. You know those genocide scenes in anime, where the villain is shown kiling people running away, I want to be the one who just standing there, getting turned into dust.

Gundams are not practical in the slightest, I doubt that they'll ever be used in real war

This entire conversation is more exiting than the entire robot fight.
Dude it's like 5 in the morning for me. Do you really have to be like this? Whatever. Let's go!
Honestly, anything with Plague on the FriendCast should be clipped and uploaded on the main channel. Anything he brings is gold.
If one of the pilots had got totally dismembered by the other robots on the Twitch stream, you would have seen at the bottom of the screen "Matt Grasso subscribed for a lifetime"
We need more hitsparks.

Tekken Team, you know what to do...

FoxNinja4000 Those fights were recorded in August from what I read. They just needed to edit it since they needed a whole day between rounds for repairs.
The hype Woolie is bringing to this fight is REAL!!
This has been no doubt one of the best podcasts ever. Never have i been brought to tears of laughter. To the future of Ultra Instinct Mecha Kid!!
Awww, just saw the video of the mecha battle...these segment of the podcast was WAY more hype then the actual thing.
One day we'll get those Mecha battles, One Dayyyy!!!!
Over The Roar of Flames is a cool ass title for either a mech anime or game. Fucking get on it guys!!!
Lovin’ these highlights!
I've been playing Stardew Valley a lot recently and I love being able to listen to the podcast while playing. Keep it up!
Pile bunkers on giant robot fist is the kind of awesome shit that makes you want to reevaluate your entire life.
The battle sucked, but this was my favorite segment of the podcast this week.
Oh, hey official podcast highlights, thats really nice!
my favorite podcast moment
Billy go to bed
While I was listening to this @ work it was funny as heck, I'm glad the store was dead so I could experience it firsthand. I love you guys and thank you for existing. -an invisiblessed fan
You're doing it, Peter! You're doing it! You're *flying*--I mean, you're starting to put the video version (well, excerpts from it, at least) of the Friendscast on the KZread channel! :D :D :D :D
I equate the Megabots v. Suidobashi fight to a round of Battlebots/Robot Wars. A fuckton ton of hype prior to the match (in this case, like two years) which lead to a round 1 knock out. Also, the concept of weight classes needs to be addressed if this becomes a thing.
15:15 the line of Woolie doing the Gendo pose made me laugh so hard I almost passed out XD
As a person that doesn't have the time to listen to a four hour podcast I love these highlights.
Woolie pulling out that top tier mecha-anime plot.
Watched this after watching the match, and omg did they nail that at the end
Did woolie and plague just write the best mecha anime ever
This is basically the origin story of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
FIGHTING FOR BITS
None of the robots pulled out a giant drill and pointed it to the sky. 5/10.
I was listening live waiting for the dummyplug joke and I got what I wanted
I fucking lost it at the twitch emotes
i wish this conversation was the whole podcast
Instead of asking if we could live in a world with Robot Mech Battles, we have to stop and ask if we 'should'. Although, a Gundam Build Fighter / Angelic Layer style technological advancement in table top gaming would be BA. 'Badass', for you Olders.
You guys had NO IDEA about how many of the things you wanted to see in the fight ACTUALLY happened. Do a post fight discussion on the next podcast, please!
I hope podcast uploads become a thing.
THANK YOU
Plague predicted the Chainsaw but there was no blood
You're enabling my night owl addiction y'know?
Full podcasts on youtube. How else am I gonna watch em on 2x speed?

I think we have the plot for Netflix's next anime series.
man i can't wait for the next gen robo battles
Okay, cool, they're doing this now
They didn't have me until they started playing up the dumb drama and the chainsword. The chainsword was one helluva way to end it.
This kills the QUICKSAVE
fuck yes! i was actually looking for a bootleg version of this video yesterday and couldn't find it.
With 37 cameras I wish at least 1 just recorded what happened without shacking and aiming at the door in the background. No one was expecting it to move 3 times faster that it ever moved before and take down a cruiser by itself, just moving was good enough but we can barely see it.
Good news about that one big charge attack woolz.
I'm going to take into my hands the responsibility of making the slow anticlimactic battle of mechs into a good fight... Except for the first round, that part was super funny
Oh myyy gawddd why so late!
I can't believe Woolie thought this was going to be good.
I’m holding out for full on Real Steel Robot fight matches to start being a thing
THANK YOU, BASED BILLY
plague sorta predicted the outcome at 12:43 ... for both version of the robots!
RIP Solidus
11:15 yeah ive been to a tractor pull once. it WILL annihilate your eardrums. it was intense.
The coolest part about the fight was the destruction of their surroundings, 100%.
Did they ever do a follow up to this? After the fight?
14:18 the paradigm shifting moment.
Bandai, this is a freebie.

Underrated comment.
Billy, I'm getting worried about you
I'm glad the channel's doing these now since there's been a frightening explosion of "friendcast moment" videos. It was fine when it was rare, but it has gotten ridiculous lately to the point that every second of the podcast gets posted by individual channels.
Why is this Friendcast hidden on KZread?
Now i wanna watch mech shit
The dumb little bots were way better than the match I saw.
There better be at least one Shining Finger.
Good god someone animate this
I'm sad I won't live to the point where we can have *REAL* televised mech battles. I'm also sad they I'll never be able to spam Kappa and Gooteks emotes in a twitch chat while someone's father dies
Woolie wants Afro Samurai
So when woolie moving to cali?
What is the official name for this America v Japan robot fight?
So where can i watch that??? Anyone nice enough to toss me a link please?
