It is so obvious you were an elementary music teacher, and not just a musician sharing what you know. The way you explain every tiny detail, like HOW to switch between chords, makes learning ukulele so easy. I’m currently teaching myself ukulele so I can hopefully start teaching it at school (if I can get a class set of ukes). I’ll definitely be referring back to these videos and using some of your techniques. Love the "mouse in the house" trick! Thanks for all of these amazing videos!

I love this lesson, this is exactly what I was looking for, stupid me was confused why my cords sounded dead when it was really just me not pressing hard enough and also , i learned hand position and so many other things. I am an elementary music teacher and have used your videos to teach myself how to start playing the ukulele. I love your videos and how you use every day teaching techniques from the classroom. I'm still a novice, but can tell my skill set is increasing weekly. Thank you for these tutorials. I would be lost without them.

Day 3 on my absolute beginner ukelele journey, stumbled upon your channel on my feed. I have, however, watched a lot of ukelele KZread tutorials. Your videos always bring a smile to my face. Be it the "look up", "don't leave", or "looks, I will wait" moments, you always seem to have some pleasant small details that surprise me in the videos. Those thoughtful moments make you not only a great music teacher, but a total charm to watch. There are many other great ukelele players and good teachers making videos too, but you are adorable in your own way and are valued for it. I will definitely follow and check out your other links/resources too. Thank you! :)

Thank you. Have been mixing it up with a few online tutorials but like your attention to real basics such as position and posture. I'm approaching 72 years old and have had 4 or 5 guitars through my lifetime and because of my wide hands with short stubby fingers could never get any more than a couple of chords right. I went for a harmonica instead!! It was suggested I try a Uke and so glad I did. Now I know its just practice, practice and more but I think I'm going to like this.

I'm 77, and yes, though she's a great teacher, I'd love to have half a dozen granddaughters who have her gorgeuos looks and charm. And yes, kid, I've five guitars, 5 ukes, about a dozen blues harps (harmonicas are for cowboys), 2 violins, about a dozen pennywhistles/tinwhistle/Irish whistles, native American flutes, etc., etc., so I know where you're coming from - and I bet you changed the high G on the uke to a low G, to simulate your guitars.
I am 71. Just want to learn how to play ukulele. Have no music background. Really start from scratch. I really enjoy your teaching. Thank you very much.
20 mins ago i didn't know how to play chords now i learned 4 new chords! Thank you so much
This is the best one I’ve found on KZread so far… very easy to follow and well put together. Great for beginners !!! Thank you, Bernadette 😊

Finally a video that actually speaks clear and their isn’t jus random talking to get ad time. Y’all don’t understand…🤣🤣. I WILL BE WATCHING THIS WHEN I GET HOME.❤️❤️🙆🏽
I'm a retired elementary school music teacher trying to remember how to play. You are wonderful! The old hands aren't quite so supple but you make me want to keep working at it. I love you allusions to Lego hands and a mouse house!
My first ukulele has arrived! My gift to myself for my fast approaching 38th birthday! Your videos were very influential in learning about the instrument and in choosing the one I decided to go with. I am loving this first lesson! Thank you so much for this content. I love your energy and teaching style!
I watched so many videos on how to start playing the ukulele. And they’re good. But you really take your time explaining and showing different aspects instead of just focusing on just the chords. I never thought about how to go from one chord to the other. This was brilliant! I really enjoyed the video 😊
Best way to learn the basics on how to play the Ukulele in less than 30 minutes. Bernadette did a longer video a bit more recently, but this one is still great. Thank you very much for all your lessons
Im dealing with so many different issues right now and I’m buying my first ukulele tomorrow, literally that’s the only good thing in my life atm that keeps me going. I’m so excited that I’m watching tutorials without the ukelele here with me. 🤣
I loved this lesson! I can really see that you are a teacher. The way you notice us the students is just so nice. You also know when to pause and give us some time. Thank you!
AHH THANK YOUU this was super calming and stress free, you're an amazing teacher!
I recommend teaching tuning from the beginning. I tuned my wife’s before, but others might be frustrated from tuning issues. One teacher to another.
I am 70 years old. I live in a care home in the uk. I am trying to learn how to play a Banjolele and I am finding your tutorial very helpful.
Happy New year, Bernadette, and to everyone out there in the ukelele community. Let's just hope it's a joyful one all over the world. From the UK 🇬🇧.
Thank you so much for this!
ok this is so helpful like omg but also when you said “look up real quick” i was literally looking down at my ukulele like how did you know?!?!
you remind me of my orchestra teacher back in middle school he was sick a lot so we ended up having a sub thruought all of 8th grade but toward the end of 8th grade he passed away and you just have the same pacentice and joy for teaching music as he did and its making me cry thank you
I love this video so much! So patient, loving, and most importantly easy to follow and get addicted to play ukulele!!! Love you Miss B!!!
Thank you. I don’t have a ukulele yet but the well presented lesson was very helpful and enjoyable. Hopefully I’ll get one soon. Cheers from 🇦🇺

This my second day with the ukulele. Yesterday, I had trouble with chord changes and the down up strumming. I kept at it and was able to play the chords clearly. At some point the down up strumming clicked with me. I’m having so much fun. I can’t wait to learn more. Thank you so much, Bernadette.

What a great Teacher!
Tbh I watched like 6 different ukulele teachers' videos and I only understood and learned properly from this one. Thank you so much you really helped a lot. But something I'm struggling on is stroking the strings with my finger nails, I don't have long nails so they hurt a lot, the sound doesn't sound good and I can't play it smooth and rapidly.
I've been reading comments, and I got my Ukulele for Christmas this year, and I finally am getting the chance to play it! (school has been getting in the way.) This lesson was perfect, I have ADHD, and the other lessons were hard to follow and very monotone, but you explain things just as well as you show them! I was getting discouraged with the finger placement for some of the chords, but this lesson was perfect! Thanks so much! (lol ik this video was uploaded before 2021 but I commented anyway)

Just lovely.

Good evening Bernadette. I have been playing now for about two weeks. I understand the cords and feel good about the strumming. I want to someday play like Vesko. He is so good.
